Some of Jesus’ most compelling words are found in what is called “the Sermon on the Mount.” One person said that if we took these words seriously we would have an authentic Christian counter-culture.

You might think a Trappist monk is on a spiritual level far beyond us. But in our next class in The Saints we come to Thomas Merton, who made prayer, meditation and contemplation accessible for everyone. He is one of the most thoughtful writers on the spiritual life in all of Christianity. Merton will help us grow in our awareness of the Lord.

Atheist. Revolutionary. Refugee. Cigarette-smoker. Drinker. Writer. Divorcee. Named after a prostitute. Saint. We continue our class on The Saints by exploring the life of Maria Skobtsova, who became St. Marie of Paris. How did she become a saint? But be warned…this woman might blow you away.

A teaching from our summer class series on the Saints.

At Missio Dei, we believe Jesus is the center of everything. This conviction shapes who we are and how we live as a community. We call this insistence on the centrality of Jesus, our Jesus centered theology.  Here's the thing though, practicing a Jesus centered theology isn't always easy or even simple. Especially in a world where so much can divide us.  In this class, we’ll explore what it means to be a people centered on Jesus. Together, we’ll examine how focusing on him unites us beyond our differences and theological distinctives. Instead of dividing we aim to embody a faith rooted in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
