Jonny Cuba made two LP's for Ninjatune in their golden age before going on to found international Hip Hop crew Soundsci. As a producer he has recorded a shelf full of records, including music for the legendary UK sound Libraries: KPM, Boosey & Hawkes and Bruton. Jonny's most recent project is 'Other Mirror', a live band encompassing all the influences of a lifetime's digging.

On Episode 4 of JONNY CUBA & FRIENDS, Jonny welcomes longtime collaborator and one-half of the dynamic duo The Herbaliser, Mr. OLLIE TEEBA.  Ollie is also part of Jonny's Hip Hop supergroup Soundsci, with Audessey (ex-Mass Influence), U-George (The Hemisphere), Strong Island's Oxygen, and legendary UK Hip Hop engineer 'No Sleep' Nigel. Jonny and Ollie go deep into "What's Beneath The Bottom Of The Glass," a themed mix inspired by late nights, hungover mornings and drowning your sorrows.  Ollie kicks things off with a set of boozy grooves from Ennio Morricone, Asha Puthli, James Brown, Carla Bley, David Axelrod, Peggy Lee and much more.  Jonny takes over for a blended bender of beats from The Karminsky Experience, Ernie Watkins, Parliament, Eddie Harris and John Lee Hooker, among others. Ollie's group The Herbaliser have become an English jazz hip-hop global phenomenon, formed with Jake Woo aka Jake Wherry in West London during the early 1990s, originally inspired by a shared passion for hip-hop, rare groove, funk and jazz. and their youthful heroes James Brown, DJ Premier, Lalo Schifrin, David Axelrod and Serge Gainsbourg, among many others. Although currently releasing on their own label and having previously been signed to !K7 Records, they were one of the best-known acts from the Ninja Tune stable of '90s power players.  They have released 12 albums, including two DJ mixes: one for Ninja Tune's Solid Steel series and the other for Fabric's Live Mix series. The Herbaliser's album Same As It Never Was was their first release on !K7 Records. Their last album Bring Out The Sound was released in 2018, on the BBE label. For the premiere episode of JONNY CUBA & FRIENDS, Jonny is joined by UK master producer DJ FOOD, aka Strictly Kev for a sixty minute musical journey "Above The Clouds."  This gorgeous set of of rare jazz, fusion and ambient sounds features tracks from Broadway Project, Mick Clarke, Tangerine Dream, Young Holt Unlimited, Steve Roach and more.... DJ Food is an electronic music project currently headed by Kevin Foakes aka Strictly Kev. Originally conceived by the members of Coldcut on the Ninja Tune independent record label, the project started in 1990 on the premise of providing metaphorical "food for DJs".  The later DJ Food albums have developed with shades of Latin, Dub, Breakbeat, Ambient and Drum 'n Bass.
