Send Robert a Text! Long before Colonel Thomas Baker arrived in what we now call Bakersfield, a solitary hill rose from the valley floor near the site of today’s Mercy Hospital. Two and a half days later, her body was discovered near Alfred Harrell Highway, launching a homicide investigation that would haun  Bakersfield to this day.
