Welcome back to another exciting episode... and yes, the cauldron is bubbling a little louder this week... Your favourite Witches and Druids gather around the ole podcast table for a conversation sparked by recent headlines surrounding the recognition of Paganism and other faiths within the U.S. military. From our little corner of Canada, a much bigger question is being asked: Should modern Pagans be concerned, or is this simply another chapter in a story we've been telling for generations? For many, these headlines stir up memories of a time when Paganism wasn't something you openly talked about. Pentacles were tucked beneath shirts. Ritual books stayed hidden on bookshelves. Conversations about spirituality happened only with people you trusted. "Back in the day, you didn't wave it around... today, you can wear it loud and proud." But... have we truly moved beyond those days? Speaking from the Canadian perspective, it's time to take a deep dive into how Paganism is recognized here at home, discuss the importance of religious freedom, and reflect on why visibility matters. More importantly, ( piggy-backing off our last episode ) something that has always been stronger than fear: Community! ( Did you miss that one? OH NO! Ok. Go back, have a listen, it's a good one!... we will wait...)  Are you back? GREAT!  Community! Throughout history, when one fire grew dim, another was already burning somewhere else. Pagans have always found one another, whether through festivals, covens, local gatherings, online spaces, or friendships that become chosen family. Grab your favourite mug, settle in, and join us at the table as they talk about what it means to be Pagan in a changing world and why finding your people may be the most powerful ritual of all.  So, what are they even talking about? 🌿 Recent headlines surrounding Paganism and minority faiths in the U.S. military 🌿 Canada's approach to religious diversity and recognition 🌿 Remembering what it was like to practice Paganism decades ago. Living openly vs practicing quietly. 🌿 Is the "Satanic Panic" making a comeback? 🌿 Why community has always been Paganism's greatest strength 🌿 Finding your tribe in an ever-changing world... what does that even mean? Because the magic was never just in the spell...It is always in the people sitting around the table! So let's jump right in because the coffee is warm, the conversation is honest, and there's always room for one more chair... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Pull up a chair, pour yourself a warm cup of tea OR something a little stronger ( we don't judge! ) and gather around the podcast table.  This week, your favourite podcast witches and druids are talking about one of the oldest spells humanity has ever cast... community!  Long before social media, before cities, and even before written history, people survived because they gathered around one another. They shared food, traded skills, raised children, celebrated victories, mourned losses, and watched each other's backs. Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped knocking on our neighbours' doors. So... what happened? Inspired by the old saying, "Don't ask what your community can do for you, but what you can do for your community," this episode wanders down winding woodland paths and asks the hard questions... Have we traded front porch conversations for notifications?  Has our definition of community changed from the people living next door to the people we meet online? Is the old barter system truly gone, or is it quietly waiting to bloom again? ... And why do so many of us instinctively lock our doors before we open our hearts? OH yes, it's time to take a peek into history, exploring the great civilizations that came before us. BECAUSE time and time again, the ones that endured weren't simply the strongest—they were the ones that learned to stand together. Whether your community is your family, your coven, your neighbourhood, your book club, or a handful of internet friends you've never met in person, this episode is a gentle reminder that every village begins with someone willing to say, "How can I help?" Around the circle, we explore: 🌿 Have we lost the neighbourly connection? 🌿 Is community about geography or shared values? 🌿 The forgotten art of bartering and exchanging gifts. 🌿 Why trust feels harder to build than it once did. 🌿 Community in Canada vs. across the border? 🌿 What ancient civilizations can teach us about survival. 🌿 Small acts that make a big difference. 🌿 The quiet magic of showing up for one another. Because perhaps the greatest spell we'll ever cast isn't one found in an old grimoire... It's choosing to build a village where everyone has a place by the fire. -- Listen NOW! Hosted on Acast. This week on Three Witches and a Druid, we are so thrilled to have Karen one again joining our favorite witches around the cozy breakfast table. That's righhhhhhht we get into the ole conversation every Pagan festival eventually has. Usually, somewhere between the bonfire, the drum circle, and someone passing around homemade mead. Because, as the saying goes… “Where two or more Pagans gather, there will be drinks.”  This episode is all about Pagan festival culture: the good, the complicated, the communal, and the conversations people don’t always want to have out loud. They are getting into the real questions surrounding alcohol, substances, smoking, spiritual experiences, and community expectations at Pagan gatherings: Can festivals still be safe family spaces while allowing adult freedoms? Is there a difference between community bonding and party culture? When does “letting loose” cross a line? Does drinking and imbibing spirits enhance connection and ritual… or pull people away from it? And so m much more! This isn’t a pearl-clutching lecture, and it’s definitely not a “what happens at fest stays at fest” glorification episode either. It’s a grounded, funny, thoughtful, and sometimes chaotic conversation about the reality of modern Pagan festivals and often tricky balancing act between freedom and responsibility, revelry and respect, spirituality and community care. Because lets face it, Pagan festivals aren’t Coachella… BUT they are spaces where humans gather to connect, celebrate, unwind, and sometimes wrestle with what healthy community actually looks like. Pour yourself something cozy ( grab that big ole cup of tea... or your coffee and baileys) , pull up a chair to the fire, and join the conversation. Got thoughts on this week’s episode? Yes, it's that time again! This week on Three Witches and a Druid, pull up a chair to the podcast table where the ( apparently 20 year old ) pear wine is flowing, and the conversation gets just a little bit unfiltered. Your hosts with the most are getting into the nitty-gritty… the stuff people don’t always want to say out loud about running a Pagan festival. Because behind the magic, the music, and the late-night fire circles, there’s a small, dedicated crew (mostly volunteers) doing their absolute best to make something beautiful happen with limited funds, limited resources, and a whole lot of heart. Feedback. We love it. We want it. We need it. But we’re also talking about what happens when ideas meet reality. Around the table this week, things get real about: Encouraging bold, creative ideas… while still asking “okay, but how do we actually make that happen?” Accessibility in a rugged, camping-based festival (This isn’t glamping my friends, there will be dirt!) Budget constraints, storage struggles, and the behind-the-scenes logistics nobody sees. Big, beautiful workshop requests! BUT keeping in mind the safety and inclusion standards that come with them The very real shortage of volunteers (and why that matters more than you think) How to honour people’s ideas, even when the answer has to be “not this year”. This is one of those episodes where we pull back the curtain, pour another glass, and trust you enough to share the real story. If you’ve ever thought, “they should totally do this at the festival…” and then wondered why it never happens? YOU KNOW we want to hear it. And even better, we want you in it with us. Got ideas?
