Not Every Yes Is a Calling: Following God Instead of Fear (Part 1)
2026/10/16
Ever said “YES, absolutely!!” to something and immediately felt your soul leave your body? Welcome to the people-pleasing Olympics, where the gold medal goes to whoever can overcommit the fastest and apologize for having basic human needs. We’re talking about being a recovering yes person, professional overthinker, and CEO of Everyone Else’s Problems. You know the drill. Someone texts, “Hey girl!! Could you make a quick logo for my cousin’s candle business?” Suddenly, it’s 1 a.m., you’re on draft number nine, the candle needs to look “cozy but edgy,” and you’ve accidentally become the unpaid creative director of a company selling a scent called Autumn Hug. 🕯️💀 Meanwhile, your calendar looks like Tetris on hard mode, your to-do list has developed its own to-do list, and your loved ones are getting whatever scraps of your personality remain. But hey, at least everyone thinks you’re SO helpful, right?! What if some of those yeses aren't coming from love but from fear? Fear of disappointing people, being seen as selfish, or not being the always-available, never-tired Christian you think you are supposed to be? Yeah. This episode gets personal. We're diving into what the Bible says about people pleasing, boundaries, burnout, and the revolutionary idea that you can say no without submitting a 12-page essay explaining why. We'll talk about King Saul, who was literally a king and STILL worried about what people thought of him. Moses, whose father-in-law basically had to explain that doing everything yourself is a terrible business model. And Jesus, who stepped away from crowds to pray and rest. Even Jesus didn't make Himself available to everyone, every second of every day! ✨ Lessons We're Learning: Serving vs. people pleasing: If your yes is fueled by fear that someone might not like you, it might be time for a little heart check. You aren't the entire body of Christ: You can be the hand without also being the feet, eyes, ears, and the person remembering everyone's birthday. Delegation is biblical: If Moses needed help leading the Israelites, maybe you can stop trying to save every group project. Jesus said no, too: Being a good Christian doesn't mean being permanently available, chronically exhausted, and one minor inconvenience away from crying in a Target parking lot. Rest isn't a reward: If you're waiting until your to-do list is finished to rest, congratulations! You've invented a vacation that will never happen. Boundaries don't make you a bad person: Someone being disappointed by your no doesn't automatically mean you've done something wrong. 📖 Scripture We're Sitting With: Galatians 1:10 — Are we seeking people's approval or serving Christ? 1 Samuel 15:24 — King Saul admits that fear of people led him to give in. Sir, you have an entire kingdom. Proverbs 29:25 — Fear of people becomes a trap. One little yes later, your calendar needs an exorcism. Exodus 18:17–24 — Moses learns he cannot carry everything alone. His father-in-law basically says, “Respectfully, sir, this is not sustainable.” 1 Corinthians 12:21 — Every part of the body matters, but your pinky toe isn't supposed to carry the entire body upstairs. Mark 1:35–38 — Jesus steps away from the crowds to pray and focus on His purpose. Luke 5:15–16 — Jesus regularly withdrew to pray, even when crowds gathered. Mark 6:31 — Jesus invites His disciples to step away and rest. He cared that they were exhausted and hadn't even had time to eat! We're not learning to care less about people. We're learning to stop confusing being needed with being loved, exhaustion with faithfulness, and constant availability with being a good Christian. Because God didn't ask you to be everybody's everything. And honestly, your calendar needs to hear that, too. Come for the laughs, stay for the biblical reality checks, and leave with permission to stop volunteering for your own burnout. And if you're the friend who says “No worries!” while actively having 37 worries, this episode is for you.
What About Her? Learning to Follow Jesus on My Own Path
2026/09/30
What happens when you open Instagram to answer one email, and 40 minutes later you know more about six strangers’ lives than your own? Instagram starts to feel a little personal. Three engagements. Two “thrilled to announce” posts. A girl from high school who now apparently runs her own bakery. And somehow you’re watching a 30-part series about a woman organizing her refrigerator while researching apartments in a city you don’t even live in. You type, “Congrats!!!” and mean it. Then put your phone face down and stare at the ceiling for four solid minutes. The email still hasn’t been answered. Welcome to comparison. In this episode of Brianna’s Bandwagon, Brianna gets real about the scoreboard she keeps on everyone else’s life. Engagement Monday. Promotion Wednesday. New house Thursday. Baby announcement Saturday. Meanwhile, her pantry has no labels. Just a bag of chips held shut with a hair clip. She talks about the spreadsheet in her brain tracking everyone else’s wins the one with a second tab you’re afraid to open and the jealousy-plus-guilt combo meal nobody ordered. Apparently one complicated emotion wasn’t enough, so we got the guilt upgrade. She’s also gotten so good at interviewing that her unofficial job title is now: “Strong Candidate Who Wasn’t Selected.” Brianna explores the uncomfortable space between “I’m so happy for her” and “Respectfully, God, what are we doing?” through stories of the disciples competing over who was greatest, Paul calling out comparison, and Rachel and Leah staring at each other’s plates. (Also, Jacob… how did you not check?) Because celebrating others doesn’t mean stuffing your feelings down and adding a fourth exclamation point. And jealousy doesn’t have to come out sideways as a “must be nice” while the laughing emoji does all the heavy lifting. Sometimes wisdom looks like muting an account for your own peace, naming one thing you’re grateful for before opening Instagram or even celebrating a friend while admitting your own heart is still catching up. Because both feelings can be true. You can be thrilled for someone and still grieve your own closed doors. Those feelings can sit on the same couch. They don’t even have to fight over the remote. Someone else’s highlight reel isn’t proof you’re behind, and their blessing doesn’t mean God ran out of yours. The question was never, “What about her?” It’s, “Okay, Jesus… what about me?” Lessons from This Episode • Someone else’s win doesn’t mean God forgot you.• Jealousy is often fear in disguise.• Comparison is never fair you’re measuring your sweatpants Tuesday against their vacation Saturday.• Even the disciples struggled with comparison, and Jesus kept redirecting them.• Curating your feed isn’t bitterness. It can be wisdom.• You can be happy for someone and sad for yourself at the same time.• Your identity is in being loved, not in being ahead. Verses Mentioned: John 21:21–22 • Luke 9:46 • Mark 10:35–41 • 2 Corinthians 10:12 • Genesis 29–30 • 1 Samuel 23:17 If you’re somewhere between “Congrats, I’m so happy for you!!!” and “Okay, God, are You sure You have my resume?”—pull up a chair. We’re learning to cheer, wait, trust Him anyway, and keep Figuring It out Faithfully For questions, listener stories, topic suggestions, or collaborations, email [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you.
The Door Didn’t Open: I Hit Send and Trusted God
2026/09/23
What happens when the door you were convinced God was going to open… doesn’t? After 145 job applications, 16 third-round interviews, and 229 days of trying to figure out what comes next, you eventually start wondering if God misplaced your five-year plan. Welcome to post-grad life. In this episode of Brianna’s Bandwagon, Brianna gets real about the messy, confusing, hilarious journey of post-grad life: applications, rejections, comparison, overthinking, career identity crises, and staring at a job posting thinking, “Lord, is this a sign, or am I just qualified?” When Brianna found an opportunity that seemed too perfect, the entire system essentially said, “Absolutely not.” Instead of assuming the door was permanently closed, she asked: What if I try another way? That question led somewhere she never could have planned. Sometimes God doesn’t close a door because the opportunity was wrong; He redirects you because your expected route wasn’t the real destination. This episode explores the uncomfortable space between “I know God has a plan” and “Could He maybe send the itinerary?” Brianna discusses keeping momentum when rejected, being resourceful without confusing resourcefulness with control, and taking action with no idea what the next six months look like. Faith doesn’t always mean sitting quietly. Sometimes faith looks like rewriting your résumé for the fortieth time, debating whether “created” or “developed” sounds more employable, and sending the email anyway—even if your brain calls it a 2 A.M. anxiety memory in the making. It means applying, networking, asking questions, using available resources, and releasing the outcome. Praying and preparing, trusting and acting happen simultaneously. While doing all of that, looking around is almost impossible to avoid. Someone else has the dream job, the apartment, or the LinkedIn announcement. Meanwhile, you’ve successfully completed another application. But someone else’s timeline is not proof you are behind, and their success doesn't mean God forgot you. You don't need the entire map, the final job title, or seventeen saved résumé versions. You just need enough faith for the next step. The closed door wasn't the end of the story; it was part of the redirection. Lessons from this Episode A closed door doesn’t always mean “no.”Faith requires action. You are responsible for the step, not the outcome.Rejection is not a measurement of your worth.Sometimes the waiting is doing something in you.Praying and preparing can happen at the same time.Being resourceful isn't the same as trying to control everything.Your skills don't have to fit neatly into one job title.Comparison can make you question a calling that was never supposed to look like someone else's.Sometimes you need to measure progress differently.Small steps can have much bigger consequences than you realize. You don't need the whole map to obey God.An unexpected route can still lead somewhere meaningful. The question isn't always “Why didn't this work?”Keep knocking, but be willing to notice when God redirects you.Verses Mentioned: Proverbs 3:5–6 • Proverbs 16:3 • Matthew 7:7 • Isaiah 43:19 • Romans 8:28 • Galatians 6:4–5 • Colossians 3:23 • 1 Corinthians 12:4–6 • Zechariah 4:10 If you're somewhere between “I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing” and “Okay, God, I'm trusting You anyway,” pull up a chair. We're figuring it out faithfully.
Standing on My Tiptoes: What God Can Do with the Chances We Almost Miss
2026/09/16
What happens when you say yes to something you’re pretty sure you have absolutely no business doing? In this episode, Brianna takes a look back at one of the most unexpected detours in her life one that started with a reluctant “maybe,” a lot of self-doubt, and a situation where she very quickly realized she had no idea what she was doing. What followed involved late nights, unexpected problems, questionable beverages, standing on her tiptoes, and learning to keep going when the original plan was no longer an option. At the time, it felt chaotic. Looking back, Brianna can see how God was using every awkward, uncomfortable, and seemingly insignificant moment to prepare her for things she couldn’t see yet. Through humor, personal stories, and faith, this episode explores what it means to step outside your comfort zone, trust God when you feel unqualified, and keep showing up when you’re operating with approximately 12% confidence and absolutely no idea what’s happening. Because sometimes God doesn’t give you the full plan. Sometimes He gives you one step, one cue, one decision, and just enough light to keep moving. If you’ve ever felt like you accidentally said yes to something way bigger than you were prepared for, wondered why God was taking you down an unexpected path, or found yourself trying to figure things out as you go, this episode is for you. Key Scriptures: Exodus 4:10–12 • Proverbs 3:5–6 • 1 Corinthians 12:18–20 • Colossians 3:23 • Hebrews 12:11 • Romans 8:28 Life Lessons:• Feeling unqualified doesn’t mean you’re incapable.• Sometimes the smallest yes leads to something bigger.• God can use the experiences you never planned for.• You don’t need to understand the entire path to take the next step.• When the original plan falls apart, God hasn’t fallen apart with it.• Correction is not rejection.• The work nobody sees still matters.• Growth often looks a lot messier than we expect.• Flexibility is sometimes the only thing keeping the whole operation together.• God equips us along the way not always before we begin.• Your detours may be preparing you for something you can’t see yet.• You can trust God even when you feel like you’re making it up as you go.• Sometimes faith looks like standing on your tiptoes in the dark and hoping you’re pointing in the right direction.• Sometimes the backup plan involves a very questionable beverage. I’d love to hear from you whether you’re sharing how an episode encouraged you, have a topic suggestion, or simply want to connect.
Throw Away the Scoreboard: Finding God Beyond the Metrics
2026/09/09
What happens when you accidentally turn your entire life into a competition... with absolutely no idea what the rules are? Welcome to adulthood. In this episode, Brianna is throwing open the doors to the imaginary scoreboard in her head the one keeping track of GPA, career, money, apartment, relationships, productivity, followers, accomplishments, and approximately 47 other things that apparently determine whether we're “doing okay.” Because apparently one C isn't allowed to just be a C. It has to become: “Maybe I'm not smart enough,” followed by “Maybe I'm failing,” followed by “Maybe I should abandon my career and live in a van down by the river.” Naturally. Brianna explores how easily we confuse outcomes with identity, whether that's a bad grade, a rejection email, a quiet social media post, an empty calendar, a smaller bank account, or watching everyone around you get engaged while you're wondering what you're doing with your life. And just when you thought the scoreboard couldn't get any worse, she discovers that we've somehow started grading our relationship with God too. Did I pray enough? Read my Bible enough? Feel enough during worship? Am I growing fast enough? Why does everyone else's faith look so much more put together than mine? But Scripture offers a much kinder and completely different way to live. Through humor, personal stories, and faith, Brianna talks about trading performance for presence, comparison for contentment, perfection for faithfulness, and the world's scoreboard for God's. Because God isn't refreshing your analytics dashboard. He's not giving you extra credit for having the perfect quiet time. And He definitely isn't sitting there with a stopwatch waiting for you to become a more impressive Christian. He's inviting you to walk with Him. If you've ever felt behind, overwhelmed, underqualified, unproductive, unsuccessful, spiritually inadequate, or just generally like you missed the secret adulting handbook everyone else apparently received... Pull up a chair. We're throwing away the scoreboard. Key Scriptures: Colossians 3:23–24 • Romans 8:28 • Ecclesiastes 3:1 • 1 Samuel 16:7 • Psalm 127:2 • Ephesians 2:8–9 • Ecclesiastes 2:11 • Micah 6:8 • Psalm 37:7 • Romans 5:3–4 Life Lessons: • A bad grade doesn't get to write your identity. • A rejection isn't a verdict. • Your timeline doesn't have to match everyone else's. • 17 views is still 17 people who saw your work. • Busyness isn't proof of your worth. • Rest isn't failure. • God isn't grading your faith. • Grace isn't something you earn. • Waiting isn't the same as being forgotten. • Failure can produce resilience. • Hard seasons can develop character. • God cares about faithfulness more than appearances. • Your numbers are information, not identity. • You don't have to perform to be loved by God. • Sometimes God is building something in you before changing what's around you. • You can turn the treadmill off. My Heart Said One Thing but God said Another, Finding Him in the Unexpected
2026/09/02
What happens when your heart says one thing, but God says another? Sometimes, the hardest part of life isn't knowing what you wantit's realizing that what you thought was supposed to happen might not be what God had planned at all. In this episode of Brianna's Bandwagon, Brianna gets a little more personal as she opens up about a season when her heart, her plans, and her expectations weren't exactly on the same page. What started as something she thought would have a simple, predictable ending turned into an unexpected detour filled with uncertainty, disappointment, and a whole lot of questions. And no, this isn't exactly the kind of “it's complicated” story you might be expecting. Through humor, vulnerability, and plenty of plot twists, Brianna reflects on what happens when you're handed an outcome you didn't ask for, when the odds don't seem to be in your favor, and when you're left wondering what God could possibly be doing in the middle of it all. She explores the tension between wanting an answer and learning to live without one, between trying to control the outcome and surrendering it to God, and between believing that something went wrong and realizing that maybe the detour was never a mistake in the first place. Because sometimes your heart has its own plans. Sometimes the story doesn't end the way you imagined. And sometimes what feels like a closed door, a disappointing ending, or an unfinished chapter is actually where God is protecting you, shaping you, and reminding you that He sees the whole story when you can only see one page. If you've ever found yourself in an unexpected season, questioning God's timing, feeling like the outlier, or trying to make sense of an ending that doesn't feel like an ending at all, this episode is for you. Bible verses: Isaiah 26:3 • Psalm 46:10 • 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 • Psalm 40:1 • Psalm 139:13–14 • Isaiah 45:9 • Proverbs 3:5–6 • Lamentations 3:22–23 • Sometimes what feels like an ending is actually a detour.• God's protection doesn't always look like getting what you prayed for.• Being the outlier doesn't mean you've been forgotten.• You can trust God even when you don't understand the outcome.• A setback doesn't erase the progress you've already made.• Not every unanswered question needs an immediate answer.• Scars can become reminders of what you've survived.• Your story doesn't have to follow the standard blueprint to have purpose.• Surrender isn't giving up it's releasing the illusion of control.• God's faithfulness doesn't depend on whether your circumstances change.• Sometimes you have to learn to live faithfully in the middle of the story.• God is still writing the story, even when the chapter doesn't look anything like you expected. Beyond the Graduation Stage: Discovering God in the Unseen Journey
2026/08/26
What happens when the moment everyone celebrates is only a small piece of the story? In this episode, Brianna pulls back the curtain on one of the biggest moments of her college experience: becoming her university’s commencement speaker. What looked like a picture-perfect graduation moment was actually built on years of uncertainty, setbacks, fear, and learning to depend on God. Brianna shares how she applied to be commencement speaker on a complete “why not?” whim, never expecting to be chosen, and what happened when that tiny checkbox on her graduation deadline list suddenly became very real. Cue the excitement, gratitude, shock, and immediate “oh my goodness, what did I just agree to do?” panic. Brianna explores what it means to feel unqualified, let go of perfection, and realize that God can use you long before you feel ready. Through humor, personal stories, and faith, this episode is a reminder that the highlight reel never tells the whole story, your weakness is not a disqualification, and the quiet seasons nobody sees are often where God is preparing you for the moments everyone does. If you’re waiting until you feel qualified, afraid to take a risk, or wondering what God is doing in the messy middle, this episode is for you. Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 16:7 • 1 Corinthians 1:8 • 2 Corinthians 12:9 Life Lessons:• The moment everyone sees rarely tells the whole story.• You don't have to feel qualified to be called.• Authenticity matters more than perfection.• God can use you while you are still becoming.• Your weakness is not a disqualification.• The unseen seasons build the character behind the visible moments.• Your struggles can become part of your testimony and purpose.• You don't need a perfect timeline for God to be faithful.• Sometimes you just have to say “why not?” and take the step.• Nothing you walk through is wasted. Some People Are Chapters: Trusting God When People Enter, Leave, and Change
2026/08/20
What happens when you realize you were never meant to do life alone? In this episode, Brianna talks honestly about the people who have shaped her, encouraged her, challenged her, prayed for her, and reminded her who she is when she’s forgotten. She explores the difference between being surrounded by people and truly being known, why asking for help isn’t weakness, and how healthy community can help us carry burdens we were never meant to carry alone. But friendship relationships change, too. Some people stay for years, while others are only meant to be part of a chapter. Sometimes, trusting God means appreciating what was without trying to recreate it. Through humor, personal stories, faith, this episode explores what it means to build intentional community, recognize the people God has already placed beside you, and become the kind of person someone else can thank God for. Because people matter but they were never meant to be our foundation. Our identity is rooted in Christ, and even when relationships, careers, circumstances, and seasons change, God remains. If you’re navigating a lonely season, adjusting to life after college, watching friendships change, wondering where your people are, or simply trying to figure out how to love and be loved well, this episode is for you. Key Scriptures: Galatians 6:2 • Ephesians 2:10 • Proverbs 13:20 Life Lessons:• You were never meant to do life alone.• There is a difference between being surrounded by people and being truly known.• Asking for help is not weakness.• Healthy community means carrying one another’s burdens—not fixing everything.• The right people can challenge you while still pointing you toward Christ.• Not everyone who enters your life is meant to stay forever.• An ending does not mean a relationship was a failure.• You can appreciate the past without trying to recreate it.• Your identity is not found in your friendships, career, accomplishments, or circumstances.• God may be preparing you to become the kind of person you’ve been praying to find.• Sometimes the answer to your prayer is already sitting right beside you.• People matter, but God is your foundation.• When life changes and everyone seems to be scattering, you are still not walking alone.• Send the text. Make the phone call. Tell people they matter while you still can. For questions, listener stories, or collaboration inquiries, you can reach the podcast at [email protected]. When the Routine Disappears and the In-Between Gets Loud

From color-coded calendars and carefully planned schedules to the satisfaction of checking something off a to-do list, routine has always been a source of comfort, stability, and purpose. But after graduating from college, she found herself facing something completely unfamiliar: a life without a built-in schedule telling her where to be and what to do next. As she navigates the uncertainty of post-grad life and the job search, she wrestles with guilt, productivity, and the pressure to always be doing something. Through humor, personal stories, and biblical encouragement, this episode explores what happens when the routines that once grounded us are no longer there and how God can teach us to find our foundation in Him instead. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 16:9 • Matthew 6:31–34 • Psalm 46:10 • Ecclesiastes 3 • Proverbs 3:5–6 • Colossians 3:23–24 Life Lessons:• Control is an illusion, and structure is a scaffolding—not a foundation.• Your calendar can organize your life, but it cannot be the source of your peace.• Your worth is not measured by how productive or busy you are.• The winter seasons of life are not wasted time—they are seasons of growth.• Rest is not failure, and you don't have to earn the right to enjoy your life.• You can create healthy routines even when life feels uncertain.• Stewardship starts with what you have right now, not what you hope to have tomorrow.• God is still working even when your life doesn't look as organized as you planned.• When your routine disappears, you can learn to trust the One who establishes your steps.
