Agape In Real Life
2026/10/26
Send us Fan Mail Parenting will expose what you believe about love faster than almost anything else. If you grew up feeling like affection had to be earned, you may accidentally hand your kids that same script without meaning to, all while calling it “discipline” or “doing what’s best.” We walk through Agape as the unconditional love of God and why it truly transforms, rather than merely modifying behavior. We talk about the protective self, how it forms in childhood as a survival strategy, and how those patterns can become generational cycles unless we let God heal what we never had language for. From there we connect the movements of divine love: Agape as the source, Agapetos as our beloved identity, Agapeton as ongoing formation through surrender, and Agapao as love overflowing into daily life. Then we get painfully practical. We describe what agape parenting looks like: separating behavior from worth, disciplining with firmness and tenderness, never using love as a reward or withholding it as punishment, and having the courage to apologize without a “but.” We also move into friendships and conflict resolution, using Jesus as the template for presence in John 11, a presence that can be moved without being swept away. You’ll hear concrete steps for staying in the room, setting boundaries without cruelty, and returning again and again, plus a short breath prayer to help you go toward repair rather than away. If this helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find a better way to love. What relationship are you being invited to move toward today? Agapao Is Meant To Be Lived Out Loud
2026/10/16
Send us Fan Mail Monday morning can expose what Sunday inspiration never touches. We sit with Agapao, the New Testament love that isn’t a vibe or a heroic spiritual moment, but God’s own Agape flowing through a person who has been filled. Using the Cana jars as a living metaphor, we talk about formation as being filled to the brim so “water becomes wine” when real life asks something of you that you don’t feel you have. We also name the inner battle that keeps so many of us stuck: condemnation versus conviction. Condemnation lands like shame and pressure, as if God is keeping tabs on you. Conviction feels different; it moves you toward change with love, clarity, and help. With Romans 8:1 and Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28, we explore how spiritual formation is meant to feel like grace, not like a crushing self-improvement project. Then we get painfully practical. The workplace becomes a primary classroom for Christian living as performance, people-pleasing, and the need for credit reveal the protective self. From there we move into marriage as the “graduate program” of formation, where Ephesians 5:25 points beyond communication tricks into a deeper source: belovedness. When we stop asking our spouse to carry what only God can carry, love stops keeping score and starts staying present, even in criticism, conflict, and pain. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who feels worn out,  send us a message with your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find the path from belovedness to love in everyday life. From Belovedness To Overflow: A Practical Map For Christian Formation
2026/10/06
Send us Fan Mail Something shifts when you realize God is not asking you to try harder; God’s inviting you to be filled. We unpack the Four Movements of Divine Love framework: it starts with Agape, God’s initiating love; moves into Agapetos, your belovedness; continues through Agapeton, the lifelong forming and shaping; and ends with Agapao, love that finally flows out of you with freedom and joy. We connect Hebrews 10 with the Cana miracle to show a repeatable pattern for spiritual growth: the jar, the emptiness, the filling to the brim, the Holy Spirit-led drawing, and the hidden source. That picture becomes a daily map for how “the word became flesh” can move from a verse you admire into a life people can actually experience. If you’ve ever felt like your faith is true but not fully livable, this will help you see why the journey isn't finished until Agape becomes embodied. Then we get concrete with four spiritual practices: daily kenosis through kenotic surrender; centering prayer as presence rather than performance; the sacred pause that asks whether you’re acting from belovedness or from a wound; and the discipline of returning when depleted without shame. Along the way, we talk about Spirit-led obedience without announcements, serving from overflow rather than obligation, and trusting that “the wine will appear,” even when you don't get credit or see the outcome. Listen, share this with a friend who feels worn out by trying, send us a message with your thoughts, and subscribe so you don’t miss the final steps of the series. If this helped you, leave a review and tell us: which practice will you start this week? This podcast is a production of The Center for Biblical Coaching and Leadership. What If Transformation Is Measurable
2026/09/28
Send us Fan Mail If you’ve ever felt pressured to choose between deep Christian faith and what modern science is discovering about the mind, this conversation is for you. We call it sacred convergence: the idea that God’s truth can be verified from every direction, and that spiritual formation is not wishful thinking but a documented pattern of human transformation. We connect the “water into wine” pattern with neuroscience, psychology, and emotional research. Practices of stillness, surrender, and relational attunement don’t just sound spiritual; they reshape the brain, loosen the grip of the protective self, and grow real capacity to stay present in suffering. We talk about belovedness as something received rather than earned, and why forgiveness and returning to presence can change how you show up long before you realize you’ve changed. Then we ground it in Scripture, walking through Hebrews 4 and Hebrews 10 as a framework for rest, cleansing, confidence, and community. We lay out the arc from Agapetos to Agapeton to Agapao, and we push back on performance based faith that keeps you striving instead of being filled. If you’re not ready for a church building, we also name what “meeting together” can look like without condemnation. Subscribe, share this with someone who’s tired of either or thinking, send us a message sharing your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find this series.  What part of your life needs to be emptied so God can fill it? What If True Faith Is Becoming Wine
2026/09/07
Send us Fan Mail "The water didn’t become better water at Cana; it became wine, and that one detail exposes how small our definition of “growth” can be." We sit with John 2:6–10 and trace the movement from empty jars to brim-level fullness, not as a Bible trivia moment, but as a map for spiritual formation and real Christian transformation. We talk about kenosis from Philippians 2 as a lived posture of letting go, return after return, so God can create space in us for Agape. That leads straight into Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:19, that we’d be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. If you’ve been running on a small taste of love, feeling tired, or trying to “manage” your way into maturity, we name the trap: partial filling produces partial transformation. God isn’t rushing you through chronos (calendar) time, and you can’t fast-forward Kairos, because God gives the increase. Then we follow Jesus’ next instruction: draw some out. Fullness is not a private spiritual high; it’s Agape released under the Holy Spirit’s direction to where it’s needed. We also face the quiet power of the hidden source at Cana, where the servants know, and the room doesn’t, and why freedom from performance is part of becoming a formed vessel. If this challenges you, share it with a friend, subscribe for what’s next, send us a message sharing your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find the path from empty space to overflowing love. Emptiness Is Where God Begins To Fill You
2026/08/31
Send us Fan Mail Emptiness can feel like a verdict, but what if it’s actually a blessing you haven’t learned to read yet? We pick up the thread from Cana’s six ceremonial stone jars and follow it straight into the Beatitudes, where Jesus names the “poor in spirit” as the starting place of the kingdom of heaven, not the evidence of spiritual failure. We talk about kenosis from Philippians 2:7, the Christ-centered practice of letting go, and why a life packed with noise, performance, anxiety, guilt, and self-management can’t receive the water God wants to pour in. The key shift is receptive poverty: an honest, unashamed openness before God that refuses to confuse lack with condemnation. We also confront a common distortion in church culture, where emptiness gets mislabeled as shame, and we name how that keeps people stuck, angry, and unable to experience the Zoe life Jesus promises. From there we move into Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6 on worry and provision, and we practice a different kind of prayer: less grasping, more thanksgiving, deeper intimacy. We connect Cana to Exodus 30 and the washing basin as a threshold into presence, then explore how discovered emptiness through loss, illness, or unmet longing can become a spiritual awakening rather than a punishment. We close with Ephesians 3:19 and the promise of being filled to the measure of all the fullness of God, plus the startling reversal at Cana where holiness moves outward from Jesus and transforms what it touches. If you’ve been feeling dry, behind, or disqualified, let this be a return to presence. Jesus’ First Miracle Shows How Love Forms Us
2026/08/21
Send us Fan Mail The wedding at Cana is often treated like a one-time display of power, but we’re convinced it’s also a pattern for transformation. We pick up the Loved To Love series and bring the framework into focus: Agapetos (beloved identity), Agapeton (being formed), and Agapao (divine love flowing outward). Along the way, we name a hard truth that frees us: our belovedness is not based on a feeling, an emotion, or a “good spiritual day.” From there, we ask the question that lies beneath much of Christian growth: How does the love I have received from God actually become the love I live on a daily basis? We read John 2:1–11 and slow down over the details people skip: six stone jars, their ceremonial purpose, their emptiness, and Jesus’ simple instruction to fill them to the brim. Those jars become a precise picture of spiritual formation, where God shapes a sacred vessel and removes whatever steals space from agape. We also connect Romans 12, Ephesians 1, and Philippians 2 to the practice of kenosis: worshipful surrender that creates interior spaciousness through stillness, silence, and the sacred pause. We end with a direct question for your inner life and a short breath prayer you can return to daily.  If this helps you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, send us a message sharing your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find it. Stop Calling Burnout Faithfulness
2026/08/10
Send us Fan Mail If you’ve been serving others for years and what you feel most often is a sense of duty instead of joy, obligation instead of overflow, we're speaking to you. Not to shame you, and not to tell you to do less, but to offer an invitation to come home to Agape, the unconditional love of God that doesn’t have to be earned. We unpack how church leadership and ministry volunteering can quietly reward protective self-doing, even when it costs our health, families, and inner peace. We name the difference between doing the right things from the wrong place and serving from a grounded identity as the beloved. When Agape becomes the source, ministry stops being a mask and starts becoming a natural movement of grace through a formed life. You’ll also get a short guided practice you can return to anytime: a pause with hand over heart, slow breathing, and simple prayers like “Father, I return to your love” and “Let your love be the source of mine.” We close with reflection questions that help you identify which protective self-pattern is most active, what triggers it, and where the gap between protective self-doing and beloved self-doing is costing you the most. If you’re ready for a healthier, more sustainable Christian life and a deeper experience of Agape, press play. When Love Becomes Labor, Return Home
2026/08/03
Send us Fan Mail Faith can look strong on the outside while feeling heavy on the inside. We pick up where last week left off and name what’s really happening when your spirituality starts to feel like constant effort: the protective self takes the lead, and love turns into performance. We walk through the cost of protective self-doing with honesty and compassion. When we manage how we’re perceived, intimacy shrinks because we can’t be fully known. When we try to sustain ourselves through sheer output, vitality fades, and burnout becomes normal. We also talk about the “uniforms” we wear at work, at church, and in family roles, and how those survival strategies can quietly replace authenticity with armor. Most of all, we confront how performance sneaks into prayer, worship, and serving as if God’s love must be secured, even though agape is unconditional and freely given. Then we shift to what beloved self-doing actually looks like: not passivity, not laziness, but active love flowing from beloved identity. We look at Jesus washing feet as a picture of costly love that doesn’t cost identity, share a simple contemplative practice called the prayer of consent (“Father, I consent to your presence and action within”), and describe a sustainable rhythm of return that displaces striving over time. If you’re craving deeper intimacy with God, spiritual formation that heals, and a way out of performance-based faith, press play, share this with a friend, subscribe, send us a message with your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find the journey home. Stop Keeping Score And Call It Love
2026/07/27
Send us Fan Mail Love can look holy on the outside while it quietly runs on fear underneath. We pick up the thread from the protective self versus the beloved self and get painfully specific about how “human love” turns conditional without us noticing. I share the personal moment that cracked this open for me, how faith can become a way to keep people at arm’s length, and the line that changed everything: "we were created by Agape to be Agaped and to Agape others." From there, we map out what that actually means in real relationships. We talk about spiritual formation as a lifelong process of being formed and shaped so divine love can flow through us, and we use a simple, practical path of recognition, ownership, naming, and letting go. Along the way, we name the barnacles that attach over time: resentment, unforgiveness, scarcity thinking, and how they weigh down your “vessel” until you’re operating from the protective self without realizing it. If you’ve been feeling tired, irritable, or secretly bitter, you’ll hear why. Then we walk through four patterns that show up everywhere: loving to be needed, loving to be seen, loving to manage discomfort (people pleasing and avoidance), and loving to keep a record. We anchor it in 1 Corinthians 13, where Agape does not boast, is not proud, and keeps no record of wrong, and we close with a short stillness practice and a declaration you can repeat when your protective self kicks in: “Agape is now my safety. I can rest.” If this helps you name what’s been happening in your heart, share it with someone who needs it, subscribe for more, send us a message with your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find this work.  What pattern did you recognize most in yourself? Put The Sword Down
2026/07/20
Send us Fan Mail The version of you that overthinks, overworks, people-pleases, or clamps down on control is not “bad” or “evil”; it may be exhausted love trying to stay safe. We name that identity the protective self, and we contrast it with the beloved self: the true identity God gives and sustains, not earned through performance, not constructed through survival, but received through Agape. If you’ve been stuck in spiritual striving or quiet anxiety, this conversation offers language that makes the pattern visible without condemnation. We unpack how the protective self forms from the womb through unmet needs and wounding, then keeps running on autopilot even when the danger has passed. We connect this to the Isaac Principle, showing how the protective self can treat surrender like a completed transaction and replace trust with vigilance: “I’ve already trusted enough. Now I must manage what’s left.” We also draw a sharp line between doing a work for God versus co-laboring with God, and why that “with” changes everything about motivation, peace, and presence. To make it practical, we map the protective self to Positive Intelligence saboteurs like the Judge, Controller, Achiever, Restless, Pleaser, Avoider, and Victim. Then we move to the beloved self, rooted in the heart and the imago Dei, echoing God’s declaration of delight. Stillness and the inner room of Matthew 6:6 do not create belovedness; they uncover what has been true all along, helping your soul finally hear, “You are my beloved.” If this helped you breathe deeper, share it with a friend who’s tired of striving, subscribe for what’s next, send us a message sharing your thoughts, and leave a review so more people can find this path back to belovedness. Put Down The Fig Leaves And Breathe
2026/07/13
Send us Fan Mail You can look like love on the outside and still be running on fear underneath. That’s the heart of what we’re unpacking as we step into the fourth part of Loved To Love, a series on the sacred rhythm of Agape and the Four Movements of Divine Love. I take my time here because the stakes are real: a lot of “good” serving, giving, and helping can be driven by a protective self that learned early that love must be earned. If you’ve ever felt empty after ministry, guilty for resting, or anxious when you’re not needed, you’re not a bad person. You’re carrying a wound that deserves healing, not shame. We draw a clear line between Protective Self-doing and Beloved Self-doing. Protective Self-doing performs, manages, and strives to stay safe. Beloved self-doing flows from a received identity as the beloved, rooted and grounded in God’s unconditional love. We talk about how conditional love forms these patterns, how they migrate into adult relationships and vocational identity, and why even big achievements, titles, or relationships cannot heal what only Agape can reach. I also name the “sacred convergence” where spiritual formation, psychology, and neuroscience point in the same direction: renewal happens as we become attentive, practice the pause, and return to presence. Then we go straight to Genesis 3, where fig leaves become the first act of human self-protection, and God’s first question is not “What did you do?” but “Where are you?” That question is still an invitation today: come out from hiding; you are still beloved. We close with a short contemplative breath practice to help you identify your own fig leaves with honesty and gentleness. If this resonates, subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, send us a message sharing your thoughts, or write a review so more people can find the path from striving to belovedness. Stop Yelling “Believe” And Start Loving
2026/07/06
Send us Fan Mail Peter writes 2 Peter with a clock ticking in the background, and that urgency changes what he chooses to emphasize. Instead of leaving a fear-based warning, we hear him offer a path of formation, a ladder of virtues that culminates in one unmistakable destination: Agape. We walk slowly through 2 Peter 1:3–7, treating it as a map for spiritual growth and real transformation that holds up under stress. Along the way, we talk about why faith is the foundation, and why trust grows best when people first know they are beloved. We name what gets out of order in church culture when we pressure people to “believe” before they have any lived sense of belonging, safety, and grace. Peter’s language about “participating in the divine nature” gives us a grounded, practical vision of Christlikeness through the Holy Spirit, not through willpower or performance. We also linger on one of the most human moments in the letter: Peter calling Paul “beloved” after their public conflict. If agape is real, it shows up in relationships, not just ideas. The episode includes a short, contemplative breathing practice to help you find your place on the ladder and let go of the need to rush the process. If you’ve ever wondered where perseverance ends and love begins, this conversation is for you. Peter Shows How Failure Can Become Formation
2026/06/29
Send us Fan Mail Peter isn’t writing as a distant theologian. He’s writing as a man who cracked under pressure, heard the rooster crow, and still got restored. That’s why his words hit differently when he speaks to believers who are scattered, displaced, and facing hostility. We slow down in 1 Peter and listen for the heartbeat behind the text: Agape received, Agapetos accepted, Agapeton formed in the crucible, then Agapoa returned to God, self, and others. We walk through Peter’s “living hope” language and why an inheritance that cannot perish, spoil, or fade matters most when life feels unstable. We talk about grief and trials without sugarcoating them, then trace Peter’s surprising claim that faith can be refined like gold and come out more genuine on the other side. If you’re carrying pressure at work, in your family, or in your church community, this is a grounded way to read suffering through resurrection. Then we sit with one of the most arresting lines in the letter: “Though you have not seen him, you love him.” Peter describes a joy beyond words, saturated with glory, and we connect this to what it means to live from belovedness rather than performance. From there, we move into Peter’s command to “love one another deeply,” where “deeply” means strained at full stretch, and finally to the statement that can only be truly personal for Peter: “Love covers a multitude of sins.” If this conversation helps you reframe your failure, your grief, or the way you Agapao people who’ve missed the mark, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, send us a message sharing your thoughts, or write a review so more listeners can find it. Your Desire For God Is Proof He Desires You
2026/06/18
Send us Fan Mail A “Yes” to God rarely starts as a lightning bolt. More often, it shows up as a quiet invitation, a repeated nudge, a desire you did not manufacture but cannot ignore. We start with a simple question: How do you recognize an invitation from God?  How do you tell the difference between your own impulse and the Holy Spirit drawing you into something deeper? From there, we dig into Agapao and why it matters for real life, not just theology. We walk through the four movements of divine love: Agape gives first, pursues without quitting, Agapetos names us as God’s beloved, Agapeton forms us into a usable vessel, and then Agapao flows outward through us to others. If you feel stuck in performance, burnout, or constantly trying to “get it right,” this framework reframes spiritual growth as an encounter rather than achievement. Then we stand with Peter in John 21, on the shore at dawn, where Jesus restores the disciple who denied him. The details matter: Jesus calls him “Simon,” asks hard questions with surprising gentleness, and even meets Peter at the level of love (phileo) he can honestly offer. The moment becomes a blueprint for Christian restoration, identity, and calling, ending with a commissioning that does not wait for Peter to feel flawless. We close with a guided reflective pause and a simple breath prayer: Agape meets me where I am, not where I should be. If this helps you hear God more clearly and receive grace more deeply, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find this conversation.
