Firstfruits Week 2: FirstFruits (part 3) Money forces us to make a choice. Will we rely on our own ability to provide or be willing to give to God and trust Him completely with our lives, even with providing the things we need in life? God offers us the opportunity to trust Him, to learn to lean on Him with our finances and in response He has promised to provide for us and to reveal Himself to us in that provision.

Firstfruits Week 2: FirstFruits (part 2) It is made clear in scripture that we are to be generous, and to give willingly and without hesitation. But to do so requires us to check our hearts and to honestly evaluate what we choose to value and to put first in our lives. Jesus called out the Pharisees for tithing without holding justice, mercy and faithfulness in higher esteem, and we too are warned that what we treasure will determine where our heart (loyalty) will be found. This week Pastor Brad speaks on how money and our loyalty go hand in hand and lead us towards or away from God and His kingdom.

Firstfruits Week 1: FirstFruits God asks us to bring our firstfruits to His house, but what does that mean? It is both chronologically the first of our earnings and categorically, or hierarchically, the first or best of our offerings. God uses this gift both to open the door of blessing in our lives, but to provide for those who are employed in the church to do the day-to-day work of the ministry. We are called to be a generous people and it is in gratitude for what God has given us that we should respond with that generosity.

The Cross and the Flag week 3: The Peaceful Life In this final week of our series from the book of Daniel, Pastor Brad speaks to us about living a peaceful life. We are not called to use political systems to change the world for Christ. We are instructed to be a living example of what God's kingdom looks like, and we do this by living quiet lives and letting God be sovereign over the affairs of men and nations. We should pray more and protest less, share our faith more than our opinions. We need to seek the peace and prosperity of our nation, by turning to God not to men and putting our trust in Him.

The Cross and the Flag week 2: The Difficult Way of Jesus As we continue the series, rooted in the book of Daniel, Pastor Brad discusses idolatry and the danger of putting political entities in the place where God belongs. When we turn to anything but God to save us, to be the answer to the needs in our lives we are committing idolatry and just as it never went well for Israel, it will not go well for us either. God is God and only He is worthy of our worship.

The Cross and the Flag week 1: What's wrong? Through the book of Daniel we take a look at what it looks like to disentangle the kingdom of God from the earthy kingdom of our nation. What is patriotism? Are we patriotic about our true King and His kingdom? What would that look like/what should that look like? Join us as Pastor Brad begins a new series examining just that.

In this final week of "Screen Time," our series on technology, Pastor Brad speaks to us about the way that our digital devices rob us of the opportunity to have real relationships and real moments with the people in our lives -- and what we should do about it.

Our devices are designed to pull us away from reality, to saturate us in an infinite scrolling universe where our "friends" are merely a number on a screen consisting of people and bots that have clicked a button. We need to decouple from the digital world and put boundaries in our lives to protect ourselves from seeking validation from a device, when we need instead to develop and find purpose in real relationships with the people we see in the real world. This week Pastor Brad speaks on the dangers and benefits of the online realm, and what God would have us remember as we use technology in our lives.

How much of your attention is being consumed by the screen in front of you? Thank you for joining us for worship as Pastor Brad begins our new sermon series, Screen Time. Together, we’ll consider what it means to step away from constant distraction, give God our undivided attention, and hold firmly to our faith so that we do not drift away. “Pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1 NIV

As we finish our series on anxiety called, "Faith Over Fear," Pastor Brad speaks to the issue of being a people pleaser. It is so easy to feel like we have to say yes to people only to feel upset, used or angry later. We can overcome this by learning to set boundaries, saying no, and working to please God instead of men. This is the Timberlake Church Online podcast, thank you for joining us today.

Welcome to the third week of our series, "Faith Over Fear," this week Pastor Brad teaches us about the need to confront the things that make us anxious head on and not avoid them. The bible is clear that we are to take our concerns to God, but to do so we must be honest with ourselves about our fears first.
