Breast Cancer and Myths
2026/07/31
Getting the right advice and treatment are hugely important in your breast cancer journey. What doesn’t help are myths and disinformation - and there’s plenty of both out there. Here’s the advice from Future Dreams : “Don’t take anything without checking with your clinical team as everyone’s breast cancer diagnosis and prescribed medication is individual. They will be able to tell you if any treatments you are curious about are unfounded or how they will interact with your treatment” In this episode, Victoria talks to journalist Jacquie Beltrao from Sky Sports and Dr Liz O’Riordan who has written a book on this very subject. Brought to you by the Future Dreams charity, "And Then Came Breast Cancer" is for everyone whose lives have been touched by the disease. Breast Cancer and Older Women
2026/06/19
The NHS say that one in 3 women who get breast cancer is over 70. That may be logical - the longer you live the greater your chances of getting the disease. But while the average life expectancy for women is 83, after the age of 71 you no longer automatically get invited for a mammogram. In this episode, Victoria talks to Baroness Margaret Hodge, who was diagnosed herself at the age of 80...she talks about her own experience and how she wants a better deal for older women. Breast Cancer and Milestones
2026/06/05

In this episode, Victoria talks to Fran and Kimmy about the hurdles they’ve put behind them on their post-cancer journey… Brought to you by the Future Dreams charity, "And Then Came Breast Cancer" is for everyone whose lives have been touched by the disease. Breast Cancer and Dense Breasts
2024/08/12
Nearly half of women have dense breasts but many of them won’t know it, as only a mammogram will confirm if you have them. That same mammogram may not be able to pick out whether there’s any cancer there. Following a mammogram, women with dense breasts should consider additional screening such as ultrasound or MRI. Having dense breasts does increase your risk of breast cancer so it’s time more people know about them. Learn more at DenseBreast-info.org/Europe  In this episode, Victoria talks to her fellow TV presenter Julia Bradbury, who found a lump in one of her dense breasts in 2020 but her diagnosis was only confirmed after an ultrasound picked up what the mammograms couldn’t. Julia and Victoria also talk to Cheryl Cruwys who founded Breast Density Matters UK, and get advice from Fleur Kilburn-Toppin, a consultant radiologist. Breast Cancer and Getting It Twice
2024/04/15
This episode is not about secondaries – that was Series 1, Episode 7. Nor is it about the fear of it coming back- that was Series 2, Episode 2. This is about when you think breast cancer is at last behind you. And then you receive the news that you have got it again. A second primary diagnosis - lightning, in the worst way, striking twice. Victoria is joined by three women who have been through that scenario- something that affects around ten per cent of women. They talk about how they rationalised the situation and how they coped. Brought to you by the Future Dreams charity, "And Then Came Breast Cancer" is for everyone whose lives have been touched by the disease. Breast Cancer and Radiotherapy
2024/04/08
There’s a lot of help and information out there for women who have to undergo chemotherapy. Perhaps there’s a bit less about radiotherapy for two reasons - it is not perceived as being as debilitating as chemo and possibly because it comes afterwards, hopefully when you are almost on the ‘home straight’. For many women it isn’t straightforward, neither mentally nor physically. In this episode Victoria talks to women who tell their stories and how they developed coping mechanisms for handling their radiotherapy programme joined by an expert in breast cancer and radiotherapy. Brought to you by the Future Dreams charity, "And Then Came Breast Cancer" is for everyone whose lives have been touched by the disease. Breast Cancer and Surgery - Part Two
2024/04/02
Surgery is a part of many women’s breast cancer stories and this episode puts some of your points and queries to a breast cancer surgeon who also explains why she and her colleagues make the decisions they do. Victoria is joined by a guest who felt that before she had surgery she had no idea what the results would look like- so decided to create a resource that will help many women going through breast cancer in the future. She is also joined by a man who set up a group to help men support each other on their journeys.
