We are a Church at War. We’re losing many battles because we’re not equipping God’s people in spiritual warfare. Pastors and ministry leaders fall daily. Suicide takes many lives. Many are walking away from the faith. A once every 2-3 years message on the armor of God isn’t enough. One pastor of a large church recently said, “Even though we have many big churches, we haven’t made a dent in the culture.” He’s right, the armies of the demonic realm have penetrated every part of society, including the church, and are taking more ground by the minute. The evil we’re immersed in demands that we equip God’s people for spiritual warfare. In this first of a 3 part series, Mike begins to walks you through key points to understand in the spiritual battles every committed will face, beginning with your identity in Christ.

A recent Axios poll showed that 43% of Americans approve of socialism. In this broadcast Mike discusses this and other stories including man allowing AI to talk him out of the faith, suicide, women struggling with porn in increasing numbers, the daily flow of pastors and ministry leaders falling and being exposed to sexual sin, men stepping back from dating and work, and more. If there was ever a time for a sense of urgency and the church becoming a house of prayer, it is now. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,” Ephesians 4:1

“‘Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me.” Ezekiel 16:49 In his 1985 book, Amusing ourselves to Death, Neil Postman wrote the following: “When a population becomes distracted by trivia, when cultural life is redefined as a perpetual round of entertainments, when serious public conversation becomes a form of baby-talk, when, in short, a people become an audience and their public business a vaudeville act, then a nation finds itself at risk; culture-death is a clear possibility.” Our culture of entertainment and prosperity has affected every area of life, including the church. Sexual sin and depravity are widespread. 70% of the US is overweight. In this second of 2 shows, Mike continues to look at how the US reflects the Sodom of Ezekiel 16.

“‘Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done.” Ezekiel 16:49-51 When Sodom and Gomorrah come to mind, many think of how the men of the city tried to rape the angels and the city was destroyed. There’s more to the story, as we see in the verses above. Pride, gorging on food, and prosperity can feed a life of pleasure, entertainment, and sexual sin. This describes the US today. In this first of three episodes, Mike Genung begins to examine how the US has become Sodom-like as Ezekiel 16 describes.

John was the only apostle who went all the way to the cross with Jesus. In the parable of the sower, 1 out of 4 hearts bore fruit. The Bible repeatedly gives us examples showing that there are few who take the narrow path, as Jesus called it. We do well to consider where we are and if our relationship with God is as strong as we assume it is. The crowd, even the Christian crowd, doesn’t always get it right.

Sandy England, leader of the wives ministry at Blazing Grace, returns to discuss what she sees wives whose husbands are mired in porn or other forms of sexual sin going through, and what their process of healing looks like.

Mike talks about not leaving God home when we go on vacation and spending time with the Lord while away, then gets into the battles many are fighting today – and losing – and what we can do about it.

When individuals, families, and churches hide their sin, be it large numbers of men and women ensnared in sexual sin or pornography, or if someone is abused sexually or spiritually, the system becomes more important then helping God’s people, or even God’s holiness. On a large scale, some in leadership positions may try to silence those who have been abused in their flock in order to “protect the reputation of the church,” which adds more pain to those who have been hurt and states that the holiness of God doesn’t matter. Mike discusses how the coverup causes more damage than good. “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper but he who confesses and forsakes them will find mercy.” – Proverbs 28:13
