I Gotta Pod to Get us Out of Here
2026/10/23
Drinking from the Gardenhose: That Bastard, Boss Lady, and the Infinity Wars What do a $50 million bra, a pair of Power Wheels headed for Niagara Falls, and a potato launcher have in common? Absolutely nothing. Which makes them perfect topics for another episode of Drinking from the Gardenhose.
OB tells the tale of an Apple Store visit that takes an unexpected turn when a towering, handsome employee recognizes his wife as Boss Lady. Ed smells a story, OB supplies the misdirection, and suddenly we're wondering whether the Apple Store offers tech support for suspicious husbands.
Then we dive into the internet's strangest corners: Ed questions the hype around Kylie Jenner's $50 million Fantasy Bra, while OB follows two women attempting to drive Power Wheels from Philadelphia to Niagara Falls. Meanwhile, people are letting strangers pelt them with random objects for TikTok fame. Because apparently, the fastest route to internet stardom is a questionable idea, a camera, and absolutely no risk assessment.
And just when you think things couldn't get dumber, OB reopens the case of infinity squared. Ed refuses to surrender, calls in the family brain trust, and prepares to put the universe's mathematical mysteries to a vote. Can science settle the argument? Can Replicant be trusted? And why does "that bastard" keep winning every poll?
Tune in for questionable internet fame, questionable life choices, questionable mathematics, and two guys who are absolutely not qualified to settle any of it.
Join the conversation, vote in our polls, and visit gardenhose.vercel.app. Because apparently, infinity isn't the only thing that goes on forever. So does OB and Edwar arguing.

Nadia Murad was just 21 when ISIS attacked her village in northern Iraq. She was taken captive and endured unimaginable abuse before she escaped and went on to become one of the world's most powerful voices for survivors of genocide and wartime violence. A Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist, Nadia first shared her experience in her bestselling memoir, The Last Girl. Now, in her new book, I Choose My Beginning, she explores what it means to move forward and build a life beyond her past. Oprah and Nadia talk about the difference between surviving and healing and why she continues to speak out for the victims of the Yazidi genocide who are still missing. Nadia also opens up about finding love, getting married and creating a life that includes both her activism and her own happiness. Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney joins the conversation to talk about their work together seeking justice for ISIS crimes against the Yazidi people.

Pod in an Elevator
2026/10/09
OB is still recovering, Ed survived AC/DC with the Foo Fighters, and somehow we end up debating physical therapists, personal trainers, and whether you can do your job hungover. Naturally, things get even more serious when we bring in the military, PTSD, and First Blood. OB rides hard for Rambo, while Ed takes a deeper dive into Sylvester Stallone's career and the Cold War formula behind his movies.
Along the way, OB recounts an elevator encounter with college students that raises some important questions: Was he laughing with them or at them? And, more importantly, when does a funny elevator moment cross the line into creepy old-guy territory? Ed has thoughts. Of course he does.
Plus, concert crowds, beer lines, injury updates, and the legendary tale of Arnold Schwarzenegger allegedly tricking Stallone into a movie role. Another perfectly reasonable conversation that takes a hard left into 1980s action-movie history.
Grab a drink and join OB and ED at gardenhose.vercel.app. Just try not to get caught laughing in an elevator.
Set Your Pod On Fire
2026/09/25
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB is almost walking again, ED is still babysitting grown adults, and Replicant remains at large.
OB gives an update on his recovery before the guys head to New Orleans with ED, where a work conference somehow turns into a series of late-night rescue missions, wrong hotels, wrong directions, and colleagues who apparently cannot be trusted after midnight.
They also debate whether OB should brave another concert while recovering, this time for AC/DC, including the eternal question: How much is a ticket worth if you might need a wheelchair to actually get there?
And then there's Replicant. The mysterious listener continues to lurk in the shadows, leaving comments while refusing to reveal their identity. So OB and ED do what any responsible podcast hosts would do:
They put a $10 bounty on Replicant's head.
Who is Replicant? How many adults does ED have to supervise in New Orleans? And will OB make it to AC/DC?
The investigation continues. The crutch is almost gone. The bounty is $10. 🤘

Hear the Pod of the Ancient Mariner
2026/09/11
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and Ed take on Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, and the worst possible way to attend a concert on crutches.
What should have been a night of heavy metal becomes an epic accessibility adventure involving 21 rows of stairs, wheelchairs, elevators, crowds, bridge closures, a questionable Uber pickup, and ED essentially becoming OB's personal roadie/wheelchair crew.
Along the way, they revisit discovering heavy metal in the 1980s, marvel at Iron Maiden's performance of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, meet a guy named Sergio with an increasingly unbelievable Iron Maiden origin story, and debate what exactly happens when two Gen-Xers discover that their metal heroes are getting old too.
It's part concert review, part mobility challenge, part transportation disaster, and part Weekend at Bernie's.
Rock 'n' roll doesn't stop for a bad foot. It just gets considerably harder to get out of the building. 🤘🦽

This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB is still recovering, ED is preparing for the annual "How Many Times Can I Move My Kid Into College?" event, and apparently kindergarten backpacks are making a comeback.
The guys debate Lewis Hamilton, public displays of emotion, and the ever-changing definition of being a grown-up, before heading down the Jersey Shore to examine how beach vacations have evolved from towels in the sand to full-scale luxury operations.
ED brings us the ancient college art of the Kamikaze shot, OB contemplates the realities of getting older, and the two discuss the strange milestone of sending your kids off to college while simultaneously wondering where the hell the time went.
Then things get wonderfully Gen-X when ED reveals his youngest daughter's first-day-of-senior-year tradition: dressing like a kindergartener and carrying a tiny backpack.
Add in crutches, Labor Day, college move-in chaos, questionable college drinks, and two guys trying to remember how young they used to be, and you've got another Gardenhose episode.
The kids are growing up. The parents are falling apart. The backpacks are getting smaller.
Pod this Way, Talk this Way
2026/08/14
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB is recovering from foot surgery, ED is recovering from whatever OB said last week, and the podcast somehow keeps going.
The guys investigate the mysterious Replicant, revisit the legendary Rutgers grease trucks and discover that those greasy college sandwiches may have been an early form of influencer marketing. They also tackle the baffling modern phenomenon of sorority TikTok dances, because apparently standing in formation and dancing in front of a sorority house is now a media strategy.
Along the way, they dig through listener comments, website polls, questionable workplace team-building decisions, and the eternal question of why people in finance keep volunteering for activities that require physical coordination.
Add in surgery updates, technical difficulties, college nostalgia, and the possibility that Replicant is actually listening, and you've got another classic Gardenhose episode.
Foot elevated. Grease trucks analyzed. TikTok investigated. Replicant still at large.

Pod Into the Danger Zone
2026/07/31
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED come to terms with an uncomfortable truth: they're not getting old... they're just getting injured doing things that are supposed to be fun.
OB recounts the company go-kart outing where he got absolutely T-boned at 40 mph, walked it off like a hero, and then discovered the real damage the next morning when simply getting out of bed became a full-contact sport. Meanwhile, ED wages war against concert ticket scanners that refuse to acknowledge his existence, leaving him to wonder if technology has officially put him on the "too old to compute" list.
As if that weren't enough, OB spends an afternoon being relentlessly betrayed by a teenager during a game of Conspiracy, proving that today's youth don't just beat you... they psychologically dismantle you first.
Along the way, the guys pitch what may be the world's most relatable line of middle-aged merchandise:
It's an episode about bruised backs, bruised egos, malfunctioning technology, and the slow realization that your greatest athletic achievement might now be standing up without making noise.

Sharp Dressed Pod
2026/07/17
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED discover that getting older isn't for the faint of heart.
OB shares the story behind his upcoming ankle surgery, explaining how years of competitive kendo finally caught up with him in the form of bone spurs, and what life will look like while navigating crutches, boots, and the hope of making it to an upcoming concert.
Meanwhile, ED recounts an unexpected deep dive into skincare after a cruise facial, prompting the guys to compare self-care routines... or, in OB's case, the near-total lack of one. They also tackle the tricky social dynamics of interacting with younger generations, discussing where friendliness ends and professionalism begins.
The conversation wraps with tales from a Bon Jovi concert, observations about middle-aged concert crowds, and an unexpectedly spirited debate over whether you're ever truly "with people" when you're just running errands, and whether that should influence what you wear.
Part aging support group, part etiquette debate, and part concert parking lot conversation, it's another episode full of laughs, questionable fashion advice, and the kind of observations only OB and ED can turn into an hour of entertainment.

One Bourbon, One Whiskey, One Pod
2026/07/03
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and Ed take listeners from penalty kicks to park tickets with plenty of detours along the way.
ED finally cashes in on a recommendation that took nearly seven years to pay off, discovering that Blanton's bourbon really was worth the wait. The guys swap thoughts on whiskey, cruises, and whether some bottles deserve the hype.
Then it's off to the Most Magical Place on Earth, where a debate over the idea of an adults-only Disney hotel turns into a spirited discussion about what makes Disney... well, Disney. Can the magic survive without kids, or is that missing the whole point?
The conversation also revisits OB's surprising skydiving past after listeners voted it one of the most unexpected stories in five years of the podcast. Add in a candid look at the show's glamorous financial empire (currently measured in cents, not dollars), a discussion on influencer culture and reality TV, and the mystery of an absolutely baffling text message, and you've got another episode that's equal parts thoughtful, ridiculous, and unmistakably Gardenhose.
Pour yourself something good, settle in, and drink from the hose.

It's a Long Pod Livin' in Reseda
2026/06/20
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED cover an episode that somehow includes Swiss mountain adventure, public restroom etiquette, sports fandom, and unexpected father-son bonding.
OB shares the story of taking to the skies over Switzerland in a parasailing experience that unlocked an old chapter of his life: his former days as a skydiver. From tandem jumps to solo exits, ED discovers there may be considerably more adrenaline hidden inside OB's résumé than previously advertised.
Back on solid ground, the guys debate one of modern society's stranger questions: when did people decide phones belong absolutely everywhere? OB recounts an office restroom encounter that left him questioning privacy, boundaries, and whether humanity has quietly lost the plot.
The conversation takes a turn for the wholesome when OB shares what might be one of his favorite texts ever: his 25-year-old son reaching out about the New York Knicks. For Knicks fans, some victories happen on the court. Others happen in the group chat.
To close things out, ED explains his surprisingly strategic purchase of a U.S. Women's soccer jersey: more stars, more wins, more reasons to wear it without waiting four years.
Adventure, aging, sports, dignity, and airborne self-discovery. Just another week drinking from the hose.

A Pod Appears Above Your Head
2026/06/05
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED tackle some of life's greatest mysteries: Why do birds treat ED's driveway like a bombing range? Why hasn't ED's brilliant concept of the "anti-Shiva" caught on? And at what exact age does hearing Pantera in the grocery store become a life-changing event?
The guys discuss neighborhood bird warfare, celebrate a rare and glorious text message from OB's wife admitting he was right!, and compare notes on the strange moments that remind you you're not as young as you used to be.
Along the way, OB shares stories from the kendo dojo, including an exchange with a teenage student that went hilariously off the rails, and previews an upcoming family adventure to Switzerland. It's a mix of unexpected victories, aging revelations, family stories, and the kind of observations that can only happen when you're old enough to remember Pantera on MTV but young enough to still argue with birds.
Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and drink from the hose.

I Don't Pod Your (Photograph)
2026/05/22
This week on Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED tackle the true modern workplace nightmare: lunchtime meetings, surprise calendar invites, and the silent war for personal time. ED explains his elite-level strategy of blocking off his entire Outlook calendar like a corporate bunker, while OB questions whether anyone actually respects lunch anymore.
The guys also dive into gym politics, prom photo etiquette, and the unwritten rules of where certain pictures should—and absolutely should not—be shared. Along the way, ED recounts a genuinely bizarre night at a beer garden involving unsupervised kids and questionable parenting decisions that left both hosts wondering if public behavior has completely unraveled.
Throw in concert shirts, golf outing chaos, and one hilariously brutal insult OB has been saving for the right moment, and you've got another episode packed with observational comedy, workplace survival tactics, and pure Gardenhose energy. 🎙️🍻
This Ain't no Podcast, This Aint no Disco
2026/05/19
In this very unofficial, definitely-not-planned episode of Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED explain how a perfectly good podcast episode vanished into the digital void, forcing the guys into emergency recording mode.
OB walks through the chain reaction of missed downloads, baseball games, family obligations, hospital visits, and general life chaos that delayed the show—while ED questions whether any actual process exists behind the scenes at all.
Along the way, ED shares the saga of his dog versus a baby bird, including the surprisingly tactical advice he got from ChatGPT to survive an angry flock of ravens. Meanwhile, OB recounts witnessing one of the most obnoxious Yankee fans ever assembled at a Mets-Yankees game, proving once again that some people treat public events like WWE auditions.
Part explanation, part bonus episode, and fully Gardenhose chaos, this episode serves as the bridge between what was supposed to happen and what actually happened.

And You may Pod Yourself... Well how Did I Get Here
2026/05/01
On this episode of Drinking from the Gardenhose, OB and ED break down the science behind their perfectly unscientific season structure (yep—26 episodes and out) before diving headfirst into a generational showdown.
From gym floors to volleyball tournaments, the guys unpack the timeless mystery of zero spatial awareness—teenagers blocking everything, phones everywhere, and the uncomfortable realization that… yeah, they probably did the same thing back in the day.
Along the way, they debate etiquette, social media habits, and what it really means to be "that guy" in public spaces. Plus, OB drops a classic story from a charity sword-fighting event at the Franklin Institute that somehow turns into an accidental first-date moment you won't see coming.
Observational, relatable, and just the right amount of chaotic—tap in and drink from the hose.
