From Atheist to Rock Musician to Pastor
2026/11/02
At fourteen, Frank Hart called himself an atheist—until a night looking at the stars sent him searching for answers in the Bible. In this conversation with Trey Sansom, Frank traces his journey from discovering Jesus in the Gospels to fronting Atomic Opera and eventually becoming a pastor. He recalls bringing the gospel into music venues, facing the end of a record deal, and resisting an unexpected invitation to serve a suburban church.
Their conversation also explores a lesson Frank continues to learn from Jesus: thoughtful questions and genuine listening can open doors that clever arguments cannot. It’s a story of faith, pride, unexpected turns, and learning to care for people.
The Trinity: God Sent God
2026/10/26
What does the Trinity have to do with the mission of God? Everything. Trey Sansom and Pastor Doyle Theimer explore how God’s sending reveals His saving love: the Father sends the Son to redeem us, the Father and Son send the Holy Spirit to create faith, and the triune God sends His church.
Together, they connect this theological foundation with prayer, forgiveness, and everyday relationships. The mission begins with God, and He graciously invites us into what He is already doing. We go with the gospel, the Holy Spirit, and Christ’s promise that we never go alone.
No Darkness Is Too Deep for the Love of Jesus
2026/10/19
Is there a place too dark for Jesus to enter—or a person too lost for Him to love? Trey Sansom and Pastor Daniel Bueckman explore the depth of Christ’s love, a love that pursues sinners and goes all the way to the cross. Through stories of fatherhood, Jesus’ teaching about loving our neighbors, and the hope of His resurrection, they reflect on mercy that reaches beyond our boundaries and expectations. Daniel also shares how a new campus ministry at the University of Houston is creating opportunities for students to hear this good news and grow in faith.
You Never Know What God Is Growing
2026/10/12
What if God is using the gospel seeds you plant even when you cannot see anything happening? Host Pastor Trey Sansom and Pastor Matt Peeples revisit an experimental worship gathering called Bar Church after discovering that one night may have helped begin an atheist’s journey toward faith. The story reminds them that God is often working beneath the surface in ways we cannot measure, manage, or immediately recognize. Together, Trey and Matt discuss scattering gospel seeds widely, listening to the missional ideas God gives everyday Christians, and taking the good news of Jesus beyond traditional church settings. They also explain why no single Christian is responsible for someone’s entire faith journey—the Holy Spirit brings different people into the story at the right times. Keep planting. Keep sharing. God may be growing something you cannot yet see.
Church Hurt Is Real, But It Does Not Define Jesus
2026/10/06
Pastor Trey Sansom and Pastor Chuck Ridley have an honest conversation about how church wounds happen, why hurt people sometimes hurt others, and how unforgiveness can keep us imprisoned long after the original offense. They discuss the importance of speaking directly to the person who caused the hurt, extending grace without pretending the wrong did not matter, and trusting Jesus with justice and healing. Chuck also offers one practical response: call someone you have not seen recently and remind them that they have not been forgotten. Discover how the grace of Jesus can meet us in our wounds and help us forgive.
Listen First: How Curiosity Opens Gospel Doors
2026/09/28
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom sits down again with Pastor Matt Peeples of Faith Oakville in St. Louis and The Kairos Network to talk about having spiritual conversations from a place of curiosity. Together, they explore how listening well, asking honest questions, and paying attention to where someone is spiritually can open the door for Gospel conversations without turning people into projects.
From “Positive Christian Bumps” to recognizing green, yellow, and red lights in conversation, this episode equips everyday Christians to share Jesus with wisdom, patience, and genuine love.
Because Jesus is God
2026/09/21
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom turns the tables on frequent host Pastor John Cain and puts him in the guest chair for a conversation about one of the most foundational truths of the Christian faith: Jesus is God.
Together they explore why the divinity of Jesus matters for salvation, redemption, forgiveness, and Christian hope. If Jesus were merely a great teacher or extraordinary human being, He could not rescue us from sin, death, and the devil. But because Jesus is fully God and fully human, His death and resurrection accomplish what we could never accomplish for ourselves. This conversation points listeners to the certainty of Christ’s promises and the eternal hope we have in Him.
How Can I Pray for You?
2026/09/14
In this follow-up episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom reconnects with Pastor Tony Kobak of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Humble, Texas, to revisit one simple practice: asking people, “How can I pray for you?”
After Tony challenged Trey to try it, Trey began putting it into practice with restaurant servers and discovered how often a simple question opens the door to meaningful conversations about faith, struggle, hope, and Jesus. Together they share stories of servers, cashiers, strangers, and unexpected encounters that became moments of prayer and connection. This episode offers a practical challenge to everyday disciples: notice the person in front of you, ask the question, and trust Jesus with what happens next.
Gather Around God's Word as a Family
2026/09/07
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom talks with his longtime friend Pastor Seth Kunze of The Dwelling in Porter, Texas, about the power of gathering families around God’s Word. Seth shares how simple family devotions shaped him as a child and how he and his wife carry that same rhythm into their home with six children. From reading Scripture and praying together to singing, blessing their children, and adapting family worship to busy schedules, Trey and Seth offer practical encouragement for parents who want Jesus’ voice to shape their homes. The goal is not a perfect devotion—it is simply opening God’s Word, showing up consistently, and trusting Jesus to do what only Jesus can do.
Rehearsal for the Rest of the Week
2026/08/31
What happens in worship is meant to shape the rest of our lives. In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom talks with Pastor Seth Davidson about how the Church gathers to receive God’s Word, forgiveness, grace, and the gifts of Jesus—and then carries those gifts into homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and relationships.
They discuss confession and absolution, the power of speaking the words “I forgive you,” and why Sunday worship should become rehearsal for everyday discipleship. This conversation encourages listeners to see themselves as the Church wherever they go and to bring the grace they have received from Jesus into the lives of others.
Welcome Home
2026/08/24
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom continues his conversation with Pastor Seth Davidson of St. John Lutheran Church in Athens, Texas, about what it means to welcome outsiders into the life of the Church. Seth shares his own journey from growing up outside the faith to discovering Jesus through ordinary Christians who kept showing up, made room for him, and helped him belong before he understood everything.
Together, Trey and Seth explore the power of authentic relationships, radical hospitality, and investing in people who may feel disconnected, uncertain, or out of place. This conversation is a reminder that God often uses simple acts of presence, encouragement, and persistence to bring people home.
Hope For The Outsider
2026/08/17
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom talks with Pastor Seth Davidson of St. John Lutheran Church in Athens, Texas, about Jesus’ heart for outsiders and the power of serving people without expecting anything in return. Seth shares how simple acts of kindness, authentic relationships, and meeting tangible needs have opened doors for the Gospel in his church and community.
Through stories of church hurt, homelessness, disability, addiction, and unexpected connection, Trey and Seth explore what happens when Christians stop treating people like projects and begin seeing them as people Jesus loves. This conversation offers practical encouragement to slow down, notice the people around you, listen to their stories, and carry the hope of Christ into everyday life.
Scripture In Motion: Using Your Gifts to Make Jesus Known
2026/08/10
In this episode of Engaging Truth, host Pastor Trey Sansom talks with David Schlecht, founder and CEO of Scripture in Motion, a nonprofit ministry creating word-for-word animated Scripture videos and Bible study resources.
David shares how God used his passion for animation, storytelling, and Scripture to create a ministry that helps churches, families, classrooms, and small groups engage deeply with God’s Word. Together, Trey and David explore vocation, the priesthood of all believers, and how everyday followers of Jesus can use their God-given gifts—whether in animation, teaching, engineering, parenting, or any other calling—to make Jesus known.
This conversation is a powerful reminder that God’s Word is alive, and God can use what He has already placed in your hands for His Kingdom.
Forgiveness As Witness
2026/08/03
In this powerful conversation, Pastor Trey Sansom and Pastor John Alwood continue the conversation as they explore one of the most distinctive gifts Christians bring into the world: forgiveness.
From personal stories of grace and restoration to Jesus’ commissioning of His disciples in John 20, they discuss how receiving Christ’s forgiveness changes everything—and how extending forgiveness to others becomes a powerful witness to the Gospel. Whether in families, friendships, marriages, or everyday conversations, forgiveness opens
doors that arguments never can. Discover why the simple words “I forgive you” may be among the most powerful words a Christian can speak.
Re-Evangelizing A Post Christian Culture
2026/07/27
What happens when an entire culture forgets the Gospel? Pastor Trey Sansom sits down with Pastor John Alwood to discuss the challenge of re-evangelizing a post-Christian society.
Drawing from ministry in Southern California, John shares how many people today have little or no understanding of Christianity, church, or even the story of Jesus. Together they discuss barriers to faith, misconceptions about the Church, and why building authentic relationships is essential for reaching disconnected people.
This conversation will encourage listeners to see their own communities as mission fields and to embrace the opportunities God has already placed around them.
