Coming up on the one-year anniversary of the start of the podcast, an emotional Victoria and her emotional-support Jared revisit the books that they discussed in the unaired pilot episode: The Sea in Winter by Christine Day (2021) and The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells (1901).

In a slightly experimental format, Jared avoids spoilers while discussing Cixin Liu's The Three-Body Problem (2008), the first novel of the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy, by talking about aliens. Victoria, on the other hand, spoils everything about Maggie Shen King's dystopian novel An Excess Male (2017) which delves into current issues arising from China's One-Child Policy and extrapolating the future of those issues playing out under constant government surveillance.
