Description

The Traditional Millennial is a podcast hosted by singer/songwriter and Millennial, Brittany Dodson. On The Traditional Millennial, we seek to unearth those challenging yet intriguing questions that Millennials have. We will also tackle those issues that threaten to dissolve the unity of tradition, modernity, and faith. We’re talking to other Millennials, those seasoned, knowledgable saints that have come before us, and those Generation Z individuals who will carry the torch after us. We’re asking the tough questions, opening the door to deeper thought, and hoping to inspire those who want to step into a place where conventional meets contemporary and faith fills the gaps.

When Everything Matters, Nothing Does
2026/10/19
Have we become so consumed with ourselves that we've lost the ability to recognize what truly holds value? From the decline of shared cultural experiences like award shows and major sporting events to shifting standards in parenting, relationships, and personal accountability, something has changed in how we define and appreciate what matters. In this episode of The Traditional Millennial, we're examining how individualism, the constant pursuit of validation, and the erosion of standards have influenced what society celebrates, tolerates, and ultimately values. When everything is accepted, affirmed, and celebrated, what distinguishes what is truly valuable? Maybe the problem isn't that things have lost their value. Maybe we've lost the ability to recognize it.
Beyond the Labels: Being the Church Christ Died For
2026/10/12
The history of the Black Church is undeniable, but does it have to dictate its future? In this episode of The Traditional Millennial, we're discussing race, division, and unity within the Church, while challenging the culture of profiting from oppression and calling people out for clicks. Are we genuinely pursuing reconciliation, or have we become more invested in the conversation than the solution? It's time to move beyond identifying the problem and start modeling the example Christ has already given us.
Is “Authenticity” Becoming an Idol?
2026/08/31
Authenticity has become a major value in Christian spaces, especially among artists and ministers. We’re encouraged to be vulnerable, relatable, and willing to let people see the person behind the platform. But can our pursuit of authenticity ever become too important? After hearing an interpretation of Lazarus in John 12, I went back to the passage for myself and found myself questioning whether the text actually supports the point being made. In this episode, I’m exploring the difference between showing people who we are and showing people what Christ has done in us. Because being authentic isn’t the problem. The question is: who gets the glory when people see the real us?
Winning Souls or Arguments? When Defending the Faith Becomes Fighting
2026/08/24
In this episode, I reconsider a stance I once held about the role of public debate in engaging those outside the Christian faith. Looking at Paul’s reasoning in Athens alongside Scripture’s warnings against quarrels, contention, and unnecessary provocation, I wrestle with the difference between defending the faith and simply fighting to win an argument. Scripture clearly gives believers room to reason, correct, contend for the faith, and boldly proclaim truth, but what should our posture be while doing it? And if our ultimate goal is to point people toward Christ, should we be just as concerned with how we present the truth as we are with proving that what we believe is true? Winning Souls or Arguments: When Defending the Faith Becomes Fighting is an honest examination of what it means to stand firmly for truth while still approaching others with the gentleness, wisdom, and love Scripture requires.
Reconciling Death and Faith: Wrestling with the Unknown
2026/08/17
Death is something we know is inevitable, yet knowing that doesn’t always make it easier to understand, accept, or reconcile with our faith. In this episode of The Traditional Millennial, Brittany wrestles openly with some of the questions that can surface when death comes close: Was this really God’s will? Could it have been prevented? Why this person? Why now? And how do we trust God while admitting that loss still hurts? This conversation explores the tension between God’s sovereignty, the reality of grief, and the hope we have through Christ. Because faith doesn’t require us to pretend death has no sting, but through Jesus, we know the sting doesn’t get the final say.
Who is the Real Biblical Israel?
2026/03/09
In light of the heartbreaking conflict unfolding in the Middle East, many believers are wrestling with taking sides. They are also wrestling with the question: Who is the real Biblical Israel? Is Israel simply a modern nation and a place on the map, or does the Bible describe something completely different from what we want to hold true? In this episode, we are wrestling with those questions to explore this truth: the covenant family of God has always been defined not by geography or ethnicity alone, but by hearts transformed through faith.
Politics, Culture, and the World at Large
2026/02/02
In this episode of The Traditional Millennial, Brittany takes a Christ-centered, unapologetic look at politics, culture, and the spiritual condition of our nation. This is not a conversation about parties, personalities, or platforms. It’s a conversation about allegiance. What happens when believers start seeing politics through a spiritual lens instead of a cultural one? What does it mean to vote without idolizing leaders? Can we support a presidency while still holding leaders accountable to truth? And why are relationships, families, and friendships being severed over political disagreement? If you’ve ever felt the tension between your faith and today’s political culture, this episode will challenge you to re-center your loyalty where it belongs: the Kingdom of God.
Are We Really Just Talking About a Dress?
2026/01/12
Are we really just talking about a dress or are we talking about something deeper? In this episode, I step back from the noise to explore the bigger picture: witness, intention, scripture, and how believers navigate visibility, influence, and discernment. This isn’t about one outfit or one moment, but about the principles and perspectives we apply when conversations like this surface within the Christian faith.
Hidden or Protected? Exploring Why We Share or Conceal Our Relationships
2026/01/05
Why do we keep some relationships private and others secret? In this episode of The Traditional Millennial, we unpack the subtle but critical difference between protecting something sacred and hiding something questionable. While privacy can be rooted in wisdom, peace, and intentional growth, secrecy often reveals conviction, fear, or avoidance of truth. This conversation isn’t just about romance. It’s about truth, accountability, and learning to recognize when silence is wisdom and when it’s avoidance. If you’ve ever asked yourself “Why don’t I want anyone to know about this," this episode is for you.
Are You Really Who You Say You Are?
2025/12/01
In this episode, we’re taking a hard, honest look at identity. And not the identity we present to the world, but the one our lives actually prove. We often describe ourselves with words that feel good. But when real life stretches us, challenges us, or exposes us…is there evidence that those traits are truly in us? In today’s conversation, we’re unpacking: the gap between self-perception and reality, the false identities we build to protect our ego, and what Scripture says about our true identity in Christ. This is a reflective, convicting, and freeing episode for anyone who truly wants to grow, mature, and align their life with the identity God has already spoken over them.
Idolatry Beyond the Obvious: Faith, Greek Life, and the Fight Against False Worship
2025/11/03
In this honest and nuanced episode, Brittany takes a deep look at the tension between Greek life and Godly living. Having pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she offers a rare insider’s perspective—not to defend or denounce, but to discuss what idolatry really looks like in modern life. From sacred vows and symbols to the subtle idols within church culture, Brittany challenges us to see that idolatry isn’t just about sororities and fraternities. It’s about anything that competes with our devotion to God. Whether it’s status, social media, relationships, or recognition, she reminds us that misplaced worship wears many faces… and sometimes, it looks a lot like us.
Let Go of Their Guilt
2025/10/06
In this episode, Brittany dives deep into the weight of false guilt—the kind you were never meant to carry. Through Scripture, reflection, and real-world insight, she exposes how manipulation and gaslighting distort truth and shift blame, often leaving us burdened by someone else’s actions. Learn how to recognize false guilt, release it, and walk in the freedom and peace that God intended for you.
Apathy, Cold Hearts, and Consistent Grace
2025/09/15
There has been so much going on, that it weighs on the hearts of those who hate to see tragedy strike. And although, a lot of us are just another voice amongst so many, one can’t help but express how heartbreaking it is watching how easy it’s become for so many not to feel. In this new episode, Brittany reflects on the death of Charlie Kirk and what it reveals about compassion, consistency, and accountability in our communities. It’s not about politics; it’s about how we respond, and what apathy is really costing us. Because sometimes, the hardest test of grace isn’t when it’s our "favorites" who fall, but when it’s our "foes."
How We Show Up: The Overlooked Key to Black Businesses Being Taken Seriously
2025/09/02
In this thought-provoking episode, Brittany is getting real about something that often gets overlooked in our journey as Black entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals: presentation. In this conversation, Brittany explores why white entrepreneurs are often taken more seriously, how our personal spaces impact our professional credibility, and why intentionality can’t be optional when you're trying to build something that lasts. Brittany is unpacking legacy, image, discipline, and the difference between performing and being strategic. If you’ve ever wondered why certain doors open for some and not others or if you've ever felt like your brilliance isn’t being recognized, this episode is for you. Let’s talk about it. And let’s level up.
