This 2025 American neo-Western thriller film was written and directed by Ari Aster, and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone. Set in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in New Mexico, the film examines the political and social turmoil caused by the contested mayoral election fought between Sheriff Joe Cross (Phoenix) and Mayor Ted Garcia (Pascal). The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra and written by Jordan Weiss, with a story by Weiss and Elyse Hollander. It brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan as her daughter Anna, who is now an adult, a mother, and preparing for a major family transition. A new twist pulls Anna’s daughter Harper, played by Julia Butters, and her soon to be stepdaughter Lily, played by Sophia Hammons, into a chaotic four person body swap after Anna becomes engaged to Eric, played by Manny Jacinto. Josh and Jade unpack what works and what is trash and what is treasure. They Manny Jacinto’s performance and argue he deserves far more roles across Hollywood. The film has a star-studded cast, which includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Directed by Matt Shakman and written by Josh Friedman, the movie leans heavily into Cold War era optimism, chrome-plated gadgetry, and bold pastel palettes that make the whole thing feel like a lost episode of The Jetsons with superheroes. If you love superhero movies with style, camp, and a film not overly connected to the web of Marvel films, this is one episode you won’t want to miss.

This week on the B-Roll, our hosts, Josh and Jade, discuss cast Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning for Mummy 4. They also talk about the Harry Potter fanfic Alchemised by author SenLinYu. The rights to development were purchased for $3 million, one of the highest sums for a book’s movie rights, not accounting for inflation. Alchemised started out as a novel called Manacled.
