Trigger warning: Murder, rape, abuse. What happened to Gabby Petitio was tragic, heart breaking and infuriating. We can only imagine how much fear and panic she must have felt, with no one around to rescue her and bring her back to her loved ones, safe at home. We know that thoughts and prayers will never be enough to heal the hearts of her family. The way social media stepped up in sucha profound way to find her, was amazing. But as women of color, I'm sure many of us asked ourselves, "OIf that were me, would there be national outrage? Woudl the entire country rally together to find me, or my remains, and bring me home to my loved ones?" This episode covers the glaring disparities between the disappearance of a white woman versus the tens of thousands of missing and murdered women of color, and how the energy behind finding them and seeking justice for them, just isn't the same.

This one is about my experience with narcissistic abuse, suicide attempts, anxiety, therapy and my healing. This one was hard to get through but it felt good to process some of the stuff I've been through, out loud. I hope that for anyone that follows the podcast, that has dealt with relationship trauma in addition to church abuse, that you hear my story and know you are not alone, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. A tunnel that can seem so long and scary to get through.I feel like though we speak alot about our church experiences, it's important to also share a bit more of ourselves and our experiences moving through the world, no longer tethered to a church home. Experiences just being humans not solely focused on being perfect Christians. Not focused on purity culture and staying out of hell. We process, in depth, our first experience with attending a white, queer led, exvangelical event. We are hoping that by sharing our insights and perspectives on this topic, as BIPOC women, that this will spark a larger discussion and be the catalyst for change within this movement. Please keep in mind we are DESCRIBING our experiences, not bashing the event or the organizers of it.
