Leadership Shift #190 : The One Question You Need to Ask to Be an Effective Senior Leader
2026/10/23
You’ve spent years building your reputation by knowing the answers, solving problems, and being the person everyone can count on.
But what got you here isn’t necessarily what will get you to the next level.
As you rise into senior leadership, the path forward often requires something different: trusting yourself, your instincts, and your own way of leading - even when you don’t have all the answers yet.
In this week’s episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why the skills that got you to where you are today may no longer be the skills that will get you to the next level - and what needs to shift as you rise into senior leadership. How to stop second-guessing yourself, comparing yourself to other leaders, and looking outside yourself for answers - and start trusting your own judgment, instincts, and unique leadership style. The one question to ask yourself in every challenging situation to help you lead with greater confidence, make decisions that align with who you are, and create sustainable success without overworking or carrying everything and everyone.Because the path to becoming a more effective leader isn't about having all the answers or working harder to prove yourself.
It's about learning to trust yourself enough to act on what you already know.
Ask yourself: What would I do if I were trusting myself?
Knowing what needs to change is one thing. Learning how to put it into practice in your career is another.
Next Level™ Leader Quiz: You’re smart. Capable. Proven. So why does the next level still feel harder than it should? Take my free Next Level™ Leader quiz to uncover the hidden pattern slowing your rise…and what to do next.

30-min. Leadership Strategy Consult: On a private consult, we’ll get specific, cut through the noise, and identify the exact gaps that are keeping you from shifting from mid-career mindset to operating like a true senior leader. If you’re serious about accelerating into your next level of leadership without sacrificing your sanity to get there, this is the place to start.

Leadership Shift #189 : Ask the Question You’re Afraid to Hear the Answer To
2026/10/16
You want the promotion.
You’ve been doing the work. Your scope has grown. You’re already operating at a bigger level.
And there’s one question you really want answered:
“Do you believe I will be promoted this cycle?”
But you don’t ask.
You tell yourself your boss already knows you want it. You don’t want to seem pushy. You’ll wait until review season. You don’t want to put anyone on the spot.
All of those explanations sound reasonable.
But sometimes, the real reason is much simpler.
You’re afraid they might say no.
Because as long as you don’t ask, you can keep hoping. You can keep reading into the positive feedback. You can keep assuming that if there were a problem, someone would tell you.
Not knowing can feel safer.
But not asking doesn’t protect you from the answer. It only prevents you from knowing what to do with it.
And while clarity can disappoint you, ambiguity can keep you stuck.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why avoiding the question can cost you more than hearing “no” - and how spending another year working toward an outcome based on assumptions nobody has confirmed can keep you stuck in the same place. How to distinguish strategic patience from protecting yourself against discomfort - especially when you’re waiting for the right time, worrying about how your ambition will be perceived, or hoping your work will speak for itself. How to ASK, HEAR, CHOOSE your way through the conversations that shape your career - ask the question you actually need answered, hear the information without turning it into a story about your worth, and choose what you want to do with what you learn.Because self-trust doesn’t mean believing the answer will be yes.
It means trusting yourself to handle the answer, whatever it is.
Your boss might confirm you’re on track. They might identify a gap you need to close. They might tell you the timing isn’t right because of business constraints. Or they might reveal that the path forward isn’t what you thought it was.
Every one of those answers gives you something real to work with.
You can ask for specifics. Clarify expectations. Build visibility. Seek sponsorship. Make a plan - or decide that waiting indefinitely is no longer the right choice for you.
But you can’t make an informed career decision with information you never asked for.
So before you tell yourself it’s not the right time to have the conversation, ask yourself:
Am I being strategic - or am I trying to protect myself from an answer I might not like?
You don’t need to become so confident that you’re no longer afraid they’ll say no.
You need to trust yourself enough to ask anyway.
Ready to Advocate for Your Next Level?
You know you’re ready for more but aren’t sure how to advocate for yourself, position yourself for a promotion, or navigate the conversations that will get you there. This is exactly the kind of work I do with clients inside The Executive Edge™, my private 1:1 executive coaching program.
Together, we’ll work on the real situations happening in your career right now: the promotion conversation you keep putting off, the senior leader who needs to understand your value, the meeting where you need to trust your voice, and the leadership habits that may be keeping you from fully stepping into your next level.
At the heart of the work are three essential shifts:
Trust Yourself. Trust Your Voice. Trust Others.
You don’t need to keep proving your readiness in silence. You can learn to communicate your value, advocate for what you want, and make deliberate decisions about what comes next.

Not Sure What Needs to Change to Reach Your Next Level?
Sometimes, the first step isn’t having all the answers. It’s getting clear on the questions you need to ask, the patterns that may be holding you back, and what needs to change for you to lead differently.
30-min. Leadership Strategy Consult: On a private consult, together, we’ll uncover the patterns keeping you overwhelmed and map out the leadership shifts required to help you lead more strategically, create stronger boundaries, and thrive at the next level without burnout.
You don’t have to keep figuring everything out on your own or wait until the pressure becomes unsustainable to do something differently.
You can start by getting clarity on where you are, where you want to go, and what it will take to get there.
Book your 30-min. complimentary Leadership Strategy Consult here.
Ask the question. Hear the answer. And trust yourself enough to choose what happens next.

Leadership Shift #188 : You Don’t Need to Be Sure. You Need to Trust Yourself.
2026/10/09
You find an opportunity that excites you.
Maybe it’s a leadership development program. A stretch assignment. A new role. Or an investment in yourself and your career that feels bigger than anything you’ve done before.
And initially, something in you says:
Oh. This could be really good for me.
Then your brain gets involved.
I can probably figure this out on my own.
What if everyone else in the room is more senior than I am?
Q4 is insane right now. Maybe I’ll do this when things calm down.
I’ve never invested this much in myself before. What if it isn’t worth it?
Suddenly, something that felt exciting becomes something you need to analyze, research, and think through from every possible angle.
You want more information. You check your calendar. You look for reasons the timing isn’t right. You try to figure out whether you’re really ready.
Because underneath all that analysis is often a belief you may not even realize you’re carrying:
I need to feel certain before I can trust myself to say yes.
But self-trust isn’t certainty.
Certainty says, “I know exactly how this is going to work.”
Self-trust says, “I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen—and I trust myself enough to make the decision anyway.”
And here’s what’s interesting: you probably make decisions without perfect information at work all the time. You lead through ambiguity. You make recommendations knowing circumstances could change. You take on responsibilities you’ve never held before.
But when the decision is about investing in yourself, suddenly you want a guarantee.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why “I can figure this out on my own” isn’t always the right answer - and how choosing the right support can be an act of discernment, not a sign that you aren’t capable of getting there yourself. Why you don’t have to earn your place in a room designed to help you grow - and how being surrounded by women who are further along can be exactly what helps you expand into the leader you’re becoming. Why waiting for the perfect time can keep your development on hold - and how to distinguish genuine discernment from the fear that shows up when you’re considering something new, unfamiliar, or bigger than what you’ve done before.Because trusting yourself doesn’t mean saying yes to every opportunity.
It means being willing to hear your own answer without letting fear impersonate discernment.
So if you’re standing in front of a decision right now, ask yourself:
If I trusted myself completely, what would I choose?
Not the choice that guarantees the outcome.
Not the easiest thing to do.
Not what you can postpone until life gets calmer.
What would you choose if you trusted yourself to handle what comes next?

Leadership Shift #187: When You Disagree With Someone More Senior Than You
2026/10/02
You're in a meeting with someone more senior than you.
They walk through the problem. They land on a recommendation. And they say it with total confidence:
"I think this is what we should do."
And you think…
I don't.
Then a two-second window opens, and your brain gets to work:
Maybe I'm missing something.
She probably has context I don't.
I don't want to be the difficult one.
I'll wait and see if someone else says it.
And the meeting moves on.
Or you do speak, but bury your point under so many disclaimers it's easy to ignore. Or they push back once and you hear yourself say, "Yeah, no, totally. That makes sense too." Even though twelve seconds earlier, you were sure it didn't.
This happens to women who are deeply confident in their expertise. But the moment hierarchy enters the room, your own judgment suddenly feels less trustworthy.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why your job in the room has quietly changed. You're no longer there just to deliver what senior leaders want. You're there because they need access to your thinking, and aligning with the most senior person means withholding the value that got you invited. The two ways high performers hide their perspective (diluting it or abandoning it) and the direct language that lets you disagree without drama: "I see it differently." "The risk I'm seeing is…" And then you stop talking. Why the goal isn't to win the disagreement. Trusting your voice doesn't mean believing you're always right. It means putting your perspective into the conversation and staying open enough to let it change your mind.Because the shift isn't from quiet to loud. It's from "How do I say the right thing?" to "How do I make sure the room has access to what I genuinely see?"
Respecting someone's authority does not require abandoning your own judgment.
Your Leadership Shift This Week
Notice the two-second moment. Before you defer, ask: Do I actually agree? If not, what do I genuinely think? Then give the room access to it.
Final Weeks to Apply: The Executive Edge™ Accelerator begins October 14

Leadership Shift #186 : You Don't Need Ideal Conditions to Do Your Best Work
2026/09/25
You like to be prepared.
You like having enough time to think things through. Enough information to make a smart decision. Enough space to review your work before you put it out into the world.
And honestly, that probably helped make you successful.
But then your career gets bigger.
There’s a meeting you didn’t have enough time to prepare for.
A decision that needs to be made before you have all the information.
A deliverable you can’t personally review.
A team member who does something differently than you would.
A week where five important things happen at the same time.
And suddenly, you find yourself thinking:
I need more time.
I need more information.
I need to check it.
I need to be involved.
I need to feel ready.
But what if those things aren’t actually requirements for you to do great work?
What if they’re simply your preferred way of operating?
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why your preferences can quietly become prerequisites - and how “I like to be fully prepared,” “I need more information,” or “I need to personally review it” can turn into beliefs that you need those conditions in order to do great work. Why you have to give yourself evidence that you can operate differently - because you can’t build trust in a new way of working by simply thinking your way into it. You build it by making the decision with less information, walking into the meeting less prepared, producing excellent work faster, or letting someone else take ownership and discovering that you can still handle the outcome. What self-trust actually looks like when your ideal conditions aren’t available - not believing you can do everything perfectly under any circumstances, but trusting yourself to figure out what the moment requires. Maybe it requires 100%. Maybe it requires 85%. Maybe it needs two hours. Maybe it needs ten minutes. Maybe you need to do it. Maybe someone else can.Because you don’t need everything around you to be exactly right in order to lead well.
You need to know that you have range.
You can adapt.
You can make the decision with less information.
You can let someone else own the work.
You can deliver excellent work without endlessly refining it.
And you can trust yourself to know what this particular moment requires.
Join The Executive Edge™ Accelerator
Applications are now open for the October cohort of The Executive Edge™ Accelerator - a six-week executive coaching experience for brilliant, high-performing women who are rising into - or already operating within -senior leadership and realizing that the way they’ve always succeeded isn’t necessarily the way they want to keep leading.
We begin October 14, and the cohort is intentionally small because I want us coaching the actual meetings, decisions, conversations, and leadership situations you’re navigating in real time.

Leadership Shift #185 : You Don’t Need More Leadership Advice. You Need a Place to Lead Differently.
2026/09/18
You know you should delegate more.
You know you should speak up sooner, stop overthinking difficult conversations, protect your calendar, trust your team, and spend more time thinking strategically instead of being buried in execution.
You KNOW.
And yet, when your inbox explodes, your boss changes direction, someone on your team misses something important, or a senior stakeholder challenges your recommendation, knowing what you should do and actually doing it can feel like two completely different things.
Because the leadership habits that made you successful - working hard, taking ownership, anticipating problems, and making sure everything gets done - can become the very things that make the next level harder.
That gap is where your next level of leadership lives.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why knowing what to do isn’t the same as leading differently - and why the next level often isn’t about learning another skill or framework, but trusting yourself enough to actually use the leadership skills you already have. The three leadership shifts that change the way you operate at the next level: trust yourself, trust your voice, and trust others - so you can make decisions without endless validation, speak up without overexplaining, say no, delegate, and stop personally carrying everything. Why the right room can accelerate your leadership growth - and how practicing alongside other brilliant women navigating real leadership challenges can help you recognize your patterns, expand what you believe is possible, and stop treating overworking, overthinking, and carrying everything as “just how leadership works.”Because you probably don’t need more leadership advice.
You need a place to practice leading differently.
A place to work through the conversation you’re avoiding.
The delegation you keep taking back.
The feedback you can’t stop thinking about.
The meeting where you know you need to speak up.
Because the goal isn’t to know 17 more things about leadership.
It’s to actually lead differently.
Join The Executive Edge™ Accelerator
This fall, I’m opening a very small October cohort of The Executive Edge™ Accelerator - a six-week experience for brilliant, mid- and senior-level women in demanding corporate careers who are ready to stop proving their way into the next level and start leading it with more self-trust, authority, and strategic influence.
We begin October 14, and the cohort is intentionally capped at 12 women.
Click here to learn more about The Executive Edge™ Accelerator and submit your application.
If you’re not sure whether it’s the right room for you, you can also book a complimentary 15-minute Accelerator Chat with me.
We’ll talk about where you are, what you’re looking for, and whether this is the right fit.
And then I want you to trust yourself to make the decision.
Because ultimately, that’s what this entire program is about.
Not becoming more impressive.
Not becoming more polished.
Not proving that you’re ready.
Trusting yourself enough to lead with the authority you’ve already earned.

Leadership Shift #184 : Stop Trying to Be the Smartest Person in the Room
2026/09/11
You’re sitting in a room full of senior leaders.
Someone asks a question, and you have a point of view.
But before you speak, you start calculating:
Is that smart enough?
Am I missing something?
Does everyone else already know this?
So you wait.
And then someone else says almost exactly what you were thinking.
Or maybe you do speak, and the moment someone challenges your point, you start explaining, adding context, and giving three more reasons to prove you know what you’re talking about.
Because being smart has probably been one of the most valuable currencies of your career.
But at a certain level, trying to prove how smart you are can actually get in the way of how powerfully you lead.
In this episode of Breaking Free From the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why being smart can quietly become something you feel you have to prove - and how overexplaining, overpreparing, second-guessing yourself, and constantly measuring how you’re coming across can keep you from being fully present in the room. Why the smartest person in the room isn’t necessarily the most senior leader - because senior leadership isn’t about knowing more than everyone around you. It’s about creating the conditions for the best thinking to emerge and using your judgment to decide what to do with it.What self-trust actually looks like in a bigger room - including being willing to say “I don’t know,” ask better questions, let someone else know more than you do, allow yourself to be challenged, and change your mind without treating it as evidence that you shouldn’t have spoken up in the first place.Because you don’t need to prove you’re the smartest person in the room.
You get to trust that you’re already smart enough to be there.
And once you stop trying to pass the imaginary exam, something changes.
You can listen instead of performing.
You can get curious instead of competing.
You can let someone else have the better idea.
And you can focus your attention on what senior leadership actually requires:
Not knowing everything.
Not being right all the time.
Not proving your value.
But making the room smarter because you’re in it.

Leadership Shift #183 - The Invisible Cost of Being the Reliable One
2026/09/04
You’re the woman everyone can count on.
You catch the mistake. Fix the problem. Save the deadline. Step in when someone else drops the ball.
And for most of your career, being the reliable one has been a huge part of what made you successful.
But at some point, being the person everyone can rely on can quietly become being the person everyone has to rely on.
And that’s when your greatest strength can become a leadership bottleneck.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving in to discuss:
Why being exceptionally good at execution can keep you stuck in the weeds - and how constantly rescuing, reviewing, fixing, and stepping in can prevent your team from developing the ownership you say you want them to have. The leadership shift from “I can get this done” to “I can create an environment where exceptional work gets done without me” - and why what made you successful earlier in your career may not be what gets you to the next level. How to build trust without lowering your standards - including how to give people real ownership, coach without rescuing, tolerate mistakes, and get comfortable with not being needed in every moment.Because senior leadership requires something very different from being the person who always gets it done.
Your value isn’t in how many things require you.
It’s in how many things can move beautifully without you.
You cannot over-execute your way through senior leadership.
At some point, you have to let other people become powerful around you.
And maybe your next level isn’t about becoming more reliable.
It’s about trusting other people enough to stop being the reason everything works - and start becoming the reason other people can.

Leadership Shift #182 : What Brilliant Women Get Wrong About Executive Presence
2026/08/28
You’ve been told you need more executive presence.
Speak with more confidence.
Be more concise.
Command the room.
Look more executive.
So you start paying attention to everything.
How you dress.
How you sound.
How much you speak.
Whether you seem confident enough.
Whether your answer was polished enough.
Whether everyone in the room thinks you belong there.
But here’s the problem:
The harder you work to perform executive presence, the less present you actually become.
Because real executive presence isn’t about becoming more polished, more serious, or more like the woman three levels above you.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to stop proving you belong, and start participating like you already do.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving into:
Why conventional advice about executive presence gets it backwards - and why trying to fix an internal self-trust problem with external signals like the right wardrobe, vocabulary, posture, or communication style will never create the authority you’re looking for. What a lack of executive presence actually looks like - from overpreparing and overexplaining to talking through silence, watering down your point of view, and interpreting every challenge as proof that you’re wrong. How to build real executive presence through self-trust - so you can say “I don’t know” without panicking, disagree with someone more senior without apologizing, stay grounded when challenged, and lead powerfully without becoming someone you’re not.Because executive presence isn’t about learning how to look certain.
It’s about trusting yourself when you’re not.
You don’t need to eliminate your personality, mute your enthusiasm, or become a generic version of what you think a senior leader is supposed to be.
You need to develop the range to lead strategically without performing someone else’s version of leadership.
Because confidence comes and goes.
But when you trust yourself, you can feel nervous and still lead.
You can feel uncertain and still make the recommendation.
You can be challenged and still stay grounded.
You can get something wrong and still trust that your perspective belongs in the room.
That’s the real shift.
You don’t develop executive presence by adding more polish.
You develop it by removing the proving, performing, and second-guessing that’s getting in the way of the leader you already are.

Leadership Shift #181 - The Power of Your No
2026/08/21
You’re capable.
Reliable.
The person everyone knows they can count on.
So when another meeting lands on your calendar… another project needs someone to step in… or another opportunity comes your way…
You say yes.
Because saying yes has worked.
It’s helped you build a reputation. Earn trust. Create opportunities. Get promoted.
But as you rise into senior leadership, there comes a point when saying yes to everything stops making you more valuable.
It starts scattering your time, energy, and attention across things that don’t actually require you.
And the leadership skill that becomes increasingly important?
Learning to trust your no.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I’m diving into:
Why your no may actually be more powerful than your yes - and how saying no with discernment helps you protect your time, energy, and focus for the work that actually matters. Why saying no becomes part of your job as you rise into senior leadership - because your value is no longer measured by how much you can personally execute, but by your ability to think strategically, make decisions, develop people, and determine what deserves your attention. The three powerful no’s that make you a stronger leader: no to what isn’t yours to carry, no to opportunities you don’t actually want, and no to points of view you don’t agree with.Because your no isn’t about becoming less helpful, less ambitious, or less committed.
It’s about becoming more discerning.
More strategic.
And more intentional about what gets access to you.
Your yes spends your resources.
Your no decides where they’re worth spending.
And sometimes, your next level of leadership isn’t about what else you’re willing to take on.
It’s about what you’re finally willing to put down.

Leadership Shift #180 - 99% of the Time You Know Exactly What to Do
2026/08/14
You know more than you think you do.
Sometimes “I don’t know what to do” isn’t confusion - it’s discomfort with what you already know you need to do. The conversation, the boundary, the difficult feedback, the career move, or the decision that feels risky.
In this episode, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why 99% of the time you already know the right next step—and how fear, self-doubt, and the desire for certainty can convince you to ignore it.How high-performing women talk themselves out of what they know is right, then overthink, spin, and outsource their decisions to other people for validation. The leadership shift from asking “What should I do?” to “If I truly trusted myself, what would I do next?”—and how acting on that answer builds the self-trust required to rise and thrive in senior leadership.Next Level™ Leader Quiz: You’re smart. Leadership Shift #179: Taking the Break You Need Makes You a Better Senior Leader
2026/08/07
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to truly step away from work?
Not because you earned it.
Not because you finally cleared your inbox.
Simply because you knew you needed it.
For many brilliant women in demanding corporate careers, rest feels unproductive. There's always another email to answer, another presentation to prepare, another problem to solve. So instead of slowing down, they keep pushing—believing the answer is to work harder.
But what if the leadership breakthrough you're looking for isn't found by doing more?
What if it's found by reconnecting with yourself?
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I share why rest isn't a luxury or a reward - it's one of the most strategic leadership decisions you can make. I also share lessons from my own quarterly reset while spending time in Los Angeles and why stepping away from work has consistently helped me make better decisions, reconnect with my vision, and become a stronger leader.
In this episode, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why exhaustion disconnects you from the leader you're trying to become — and how constantly prioritizing everyone else's needs over your own quietly erodes your clarity, confidence, and ability to lead with self-trust.The connection between rest and better leadership decisions — why the most effective response to a difficult conversation, career decision, or leadership challenge is often to step away first, reconnect with yourself, and return with greater clarity and conviction. How to build moments of rest into everyday leadership — including the simple shifts that help you recharge without waiting for the perfect vacation, so you can lead with more presence, authenticity, and strategic influence every day.If you've been telling yourself you'll rest after this project...
If you've been running on empty while convincing yourself you just need to push a little harder...
Or if you've forgotten what it feels like to lead from a place of clarity instead of exhaustion...
This episode will remind you that your next level isn't created by sacrificing yourself.
It's created by learning to trust yourself enough to pause.

Leadership Shift #178 - How Overexplaining Quietly Undermines Your Authority
2026/07/31
Have you ever walked out of a meeting knowing you had the right recommendation - but wishing you had stopped talking two minutes earlier? If you constantly feel the need to justify, soften, or defend your ideas before anyone has even challenged them, the issue isn't your communication. It's self-trust. In this week's episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I explore why overexplaining quietly undermines your authority - and the leadership shift that allows senior leaders to communicate with greater clarity, conviction, and influence.
In this episode, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why overexplaining isn't a communication problem - it's a self-trust problem. Discover how the habit of overexplaining stems from seeking validation rather than trusting your own judgment, and why that subtle difference changes how others experience your leadership. The leadership shift from proving your thinking to owning your judgment. Learn why the behaviors that helped you build credibility earlier in your career can begin costing you credibility as you step into senior leadership - and how executive leaders create clarity instead of convincing.A simple awareness practice to break the overexplaining habit. I share one powerful question to ask yourself whenever you notice you've already made your point but keep talking - helping you build deeper self-trust and stronger executive presence.Next Level™ Leader Quiz: You’re smart. Leadership Shift #177 : Stop Waiting Until You're Ready
2026/07/24
How many opportunities have you postponed because you told yourself, "I'm just not ready yet"?
For brilliant, high-performing women, waiting rarely looks like fear. It sounds responsible.
"I need a little more experience."
"Maybe next year."
"I haven't earned it yet."
But what if readiness isn't something you discover?
What if it's something you create?
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I share some of the most pivotal decisions of my own career - from applying to Columbia Business School to leaving investment banking and starting my coaching business before I felt qualified. Along the way, I unpack why confidence isn't what creates action - and why the permission you've been waiting for has to come from you.
In this episode, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why waiting until you feel ready is one of the biggest hidden barriers to senior leadership - and how high-performing women often mistake fear for being "responsible," "strategic," or "not quite ready yet."The difference between waiting to become more qualified and choosing to believe you already belong - why self-trust, not certainty, is what allows exceptional women to step into bigger opportunities. How to stop waiting for confidence before you act - including the mindset shift that helps you trust yourself before you have proof, lead from identity instead of validation, and become the leader your next level requires. If you've been telling yourself you need one more year of experience...
If you've been postponing the conversation, the promotion, or the opportunity because you don't feel completely ready...
This episode will help you stop waiting for permission - and start trusting yourself enough to become the woman your next level is already asking you to be.

Ep #176 - What If They Think You're Too Much?
2026/07/17
What would you do differently if you stopped worrying about what other people thought?
Would you finally ask for the promotion? Speak up in senior leadership meetings? Negotiate your salary? Set the boundary you've been avoiding? Or stop apologizing for taking up space?
For so many brilliant, high-performing women in demanding corporate careers, the biggest thing
standing between where they are and where they want to be isn't capability - it's the fear of other people's opinions.
In this episode of Breaking Free from the Grind, I unpack why the need for approval quietly keeps talented women playing smaller than they're meant to and the leadership shifts required to stop making career decisions based on potential disapproval - and start leading from self-trust instead.
In this episode, I'm diving in to discuss:
Why fear of other people's opinions is one of the biggest hidden barriers to senior leadership - and how constantly worrying about being 'too much,' 'too ambitious,' or 'too difficult' keeps brilliant women from asking for what they want, setting boundaries, and fully owning their leadership. The difference between building your career around approval versus alignment—why decisions made to avoid disapproval will always pull you further away from the career and leadership identity you actually want to create. How to stop editing yourself and start leading authentically—including the mindset shift that allows you to let people misunderstand you, trust your own desires, and become the leader you're truly meant to be.If you've been making career decisions based on what your manager, colleagues, or team might think…
If you've been shrinking your ambitions, softening your voice, or holding yourself back to make other people more comfortable…
This episode will help you stop seeking permission - and start becoming the leader you already know you're capable of being.
