Many of us are missing travelling around the world, so Kyle thought it would be a good idea to watch a movie set outside of Malaysia, away from all the stress and anxiety from the pandemic - in Istanbul, Turkey. This 2012 romantic comedy also started trending again this year, and Kyle thinks it's because director Bernard Chauly is a master at making people feel good through his films.

In conjunction with Merdeka season, Kyle thought it's only fitting to check out a movie about national unity. This 2018 political drama based on actual events during GE14 was a box office flop, but if you look past its flaws, it really does embody how we should never lose sight of who we are as Malaysians moving into the future.

After his first disappointment from Malaysian cinema, SYOK's Nura Khadijah joins Kyle to break down this 2011 action film which actually was a hit with cinema-goers, but not with Kyle.

Loosely based on the infamous true story of singer-turned-witch doctor, Mona Fandey and the murder of politician, Datuk Mazlan Idris, Dukun explores the dark and twisted use of black magic in Southeast Asia, and how some people are so willing to partake, just to fulfill their deepest desires. Kyle shares his thoughts on this 2018 horror-thriller that was banned for over a decade.

KIL touches on a very sensitive topic in Malaysia - suicide. Kyle shares his take on this multi-award-winning 2013 mystery drama, and how its values should be taken note of by all of us, especially during these trying times.

Kyle starts his exploration of Malaysian cinema with the widely-recommended Malay cult classic, Pisau Cukur. And let's just say, Bernard Chauly's popular comedy-drama from 2009 was definitely the right choice to kick things off!
