Mustache Crafting Collective
2025/08/14
Drea takes us to a fantasy land where all different kinds of professions that could exist if reality would allow it. These professions are all well-paid, full of benefits, and takes care of any financial needs you may have. This eventually turns into a really large commercial building to house all of the different professions that the group comes up with. Tina wants on-site daycare so she can do yarn things in peace. Meg wants someone to inspect her hanks for knots before she winds them. Jess suggests a needle repair place, like a cobbler. Meg suggests a pattern librarian (Drea mentions a Fiber Archivist) who can maintain patterns and provide recommendations based on the types of patterns you like. Learn all about how we meld our ideas into something absolutely out of this world that could never exist in real life unless we make friends with some very friendly investors during this imaginative episode! :D Find out more about the podcast as well as our cast Meg, Drea, Tina, and Jess at our website pardonmystash.com. The Original WIP Master

Meg leads our episode today discussing "propaganda we will not be buying" when it comes to fiber arts. Coming off a popular social media trend, the cast brings up certain ideas that seem to be set in stone with some of the community. Some ideas we are not buying that blocking is always necessary, nice yarn is only meant for special projects, handmade gifts are always appreciated, and much more! See what you can relate to this episode, and let us know about "propaganda" you are not buying. Don't Pick Up a Heel, Pick Up a Peel
2025/07/03
Jess starts the episode about the crazy weather changes and not having the desire to knit with cotton during the summer even though it's popular to do so. Meg brings up her mohair sweater, and the discussion turns to making and wearing sweaters in general. This delves into having time to knit but dealing with different kinds of fatigue issues like choice or physical types. Jess talks about getting distracted by cinematic video game playthroughs when they try to knit. Tina realizes she might finish her beanie during the episode recording, and everyone else talks about what they have or have not finished this year. They briefly go over motivation to do so and how difficult it has been with lack of time on everyone's schedules. Tina talks about dealing with chronic illness/pain, free time, and motivation to work on knitting never seeming to coincide. Honesty abounds during this episode, so grab your favorite drink and/or snack, a project if you are feeling it, and hang out with us as we get through. Absolutely Not Making a Hat for Casper the Friendly Ghost
2025/06/12
Tina hosts a lighthearted episode giving each other in the group superlatives similar to those you would see in a school's yearbook, but make it fiber arts related. While going around and asking the rest of the cast who would fit in what "awards", they discuss the different moments that prove why they fit into those titles. See which one you relate to the most along with us! After all the silly antics, the group gives each other a superlative that makes the most sense for them. You Are So Confidently Wrong With Your Answer
2025/05/29
Drea hosts an extra special episode of Nailed It! Yarn Edition with people who know nothing about the fiber arts. A frequent request, Frank and Patrick join for this episode and go through three rounds of ultimate tests - How Well Do You Know Your Partner, Guess That Acronym, and Price is Right: Fiber Edition! Meg and Jess have the answer cards and keep everyone honest during the contest. Drea and Tina learn a lot about their significant others and how well (or not so well) they know about their interests in the fiber arts and the fiber arts as a whole. This episode is extra long and full of fun factoids and tons of laughs. Feel free to try this game at home with your friends and family to see how well they do. ...And There's a List for That
2025/05/15
Meg opens up the floor after a bit of a hiatus from posting new episodes due to the state of the world, in particular for the cast considering they live in the United States. Drea's coping by making really delicious bread, learning crochet, and watching Frank play God of War while watching Star Gate. Tina relays that her father was also a giant Star Gate fan and they watched together when she was younger. Tina talks about how the internet is a hot mess due to the amount of small businesses closing up shop. Meg discusses how in times of uncertainty, the fiber arts economy tends to suffer because its considered more of a luxury. Big buys of yarn is not in the cards while actual crafting, sewing, mending, and more is definitely higher for practical usage. Drea mentions patching up ladies' sweaters at work. Meg talks about the downsizing of bases used for Critical Hit Dyes. Jess talks about how the algorithm is pushing certain types of content creators off folks' feeds in our current divisive environment. This episode reflects on how current life events are affecting our businesses, lives, and how we are seeing it affect others. We mention our opinions and personal experiences regarding the current live events, but we are not claiming to be experts on economy, politics, languages, or otherwise. Jess Does Not Need Any More Eyes
2025/03/20
Jess wants to know what's in everybody's notion bags! First, there's an enamel pin check, and then Jess dumps their bag out to compare to what everyone else has. Jess and Tina realize they are the only ones with random yarn scraps in their bags. How many scissors does Tina have? Drea has a plethora of row counters. Meg has adorable bird stitch markers Drea gave her as a holiday gift recently. Tina may have an entire needle store in her bags. For some reason the cast keeps thinking of different ways to use their notions as impromptu weapons. Jess continues to go through their bag and ask who has what. You'll find out a lot about each cast member and their preferences when it comes to notions and tools! Wait until the end for a surprise item in Drea's bag! Meg & Drea Might Buy An Alpaca Farm
2025/03/06
Tina says they have a lot to cover! First things first, a moment of silence for Joann's closing down - a U.S. based craft store retailer that has been in business for over 80 years. Don't worry, Meg's mom is buying her quilting fabric online now, so she's all good! Tina discusses the fake funny story how Michaels and Joann's were once a married couple, fought about what a craft store should be, and they got divorced and made their own stores. Jess reminisces about "cosplay" days to grab fabrics for different costumes. Drea mentions she is making out well with the yarn sales from the liquidation. Meg offers the idea of giving turtles to random people to help with Drea's excessive crochet turtle problem. Tina asks our listeners to send in questions they may have about our different projects we work on such as yarn dyeing, pattern designing, and podcasting to help us create mini bonus episodes to sprinkle into our regular episode releases. You can send these questions in through our website using on contact form found at the bottom of all pages. Next, Tina brings up questions and topic suggestions the cast has received from Discord and email submissions. They go through lots of different questions and ideas, and also pick some to save for a full episode later on! This or That
2025/02/06
Welcome to Season 5! For 2025, Drea asks our fiber loving crew for updates from when we were gone during our annual break in January. Drea announces she has a "banger" for an episode, and starts a game of This or That. After being confused about the only rule of the game for a moment, Drea starts with easy questions like knit or purl, and progressively gets harder and harder for everyone to answer. Jess keeps their answers to what they don't hate just yet - keyword, yet! Tina goes brioche "all day every day". Drea considers enterlac for a hat project. Meg likes to use feather and fan for the edges of projects over herringbone, and dislikes lacework because a mistake is catastrophic and not easy to fix. There are much more choices made! See if your choice aligns with some of the cast members! Stay until the end to hear a fun Frank-provided "this or that". What Grinds Your Gears
2024/11/07
Tina starts this episode out talking about what grinds her gears. From cords coming undone from needles to test knits with unreasonable deadlines to patterns that say they are size inclusive but have a very limited view of what size inclusive means, the group talks about different things that get under their skin when it comes to the fiber arts. We are proud to support the #SocksForSam initiative, a 501(3)(C) charity! Drea gives all the details on supporting a local CT student for his love for mismatched socks and to bring awareness to his terminal illness, Vanishing White Matter Disease, Beginning in December, they will start collecting knitted single socks for a chance to win prizes! Rhinebeck 2024 Recap & Treat Yourself Makealong
2024/10/28
Drea leads the episode going over how New York Sheep & Wool in Rhinebeck, NY went for the cast. They discuss about the changes done to improve crowd flow and layout, as well as a general note to folks to be more mindful when walking around the festival for those using mobility devices. The meetup was a blast, and everyone talks about who they met and what stories really touched their hearts as well as the free swag they handed out! It was awesome to be able to meet everyone on a Saturday, but the conclusion was that the group is more of a Sunday crowd fan due to the large number of people that show up on Saturday. Drea reminds everyone to find their joy! They go over what they ended up bringing back from the festival and provide vendor highlights. Road to Rhinebeck 2024
2024/10/10
Meg alarms Drea and Tina because they forgot it's time to head to Rhinebeck! It's a special year because the cast will be attending on SATURDAY instead of Sunday this year! Join Pardon My Stash at the Grassy Knoll near Gate 1 from 2:00pm to 2:30pm. It sounds like they might have some goodies to hand out, especially Drea and her shady sales (don't worry, nothing illegal!). Meg reminisces about NY Sheep and Wool and asks everyone what they are looking forward to. Tina is on a mission to find the perfect ivory wedding shawl for a beachy wedding for her sister-in-law. Jess found Tina a pattern to use that's beautiful but failed to let her know that it has 2600+ beads in the project. Drea asks Meg if she found all the beads off the floor after last week's fiasco. Drea usually looks for sheep art, but doesn't have a particular plan for purchases. Jess also brings up the new upcoming makealong from Pardon My Stash - the Treat Yourself Makealong - you have to make something FOR YOURSELF! No gifts, no presents, no giveaways.
