Send us Fan Mail Pour a drink, lock your doors, and lower your moral standards — because the Podcats were absolutely hammered recording this one, and Erica chose this to finally confess her undying love for Ed Gein. (Yes… that Ed Gein. We’re concerned too.) In this episode, Jess, Erica, Traci, and special guest Julian dive headfirst into the dark, gruesome, and occasionally ridiculous world of Ed Gein — the real-life inspiration behind Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs. From Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story to the real history behind Plainfield’s creepiest man, we’re breaking down what’s real, what’s Hollywood nonsense, and what’s just straight-up nightmare fuel. 🍸 What We’re Drinking “The Grave Digger Espresso Martini” — because nothing pairs better with grave-robbing and nipple belts than vodka, espresso, and questionable decision-making. 🔥 What’s Inside: The actual story of Ed Gein — domineering moms, grave-robbing, and why he never had a girlfriend (shocking).Fact vs. Fiction from the Netflix series (spoiler: they made up a lot). The truly horrifying things found in his house (yes… the nipple belt). How Gein became the blueprint for every horror villain you’ve ever loved. The psychology behind one of America’s weirdest, most disturbing criminals. And of course — a drunk, chaotic round of F*, Marry, Kill. Choices were: Ed Gein, Jeffrey Dahmer or John Wayne Gacy. ✨ Guest Alert Tom Cat Julian aka Party After Five  joins the Podcats to offer both insight and unhinged commentary. He survived. Mostly. 💀 Content Warning Blood, guts, grave-robbing, corpse mutilation, “woman suits,” and whatever the hell Erica has going on emotionally with Ed Gein. Grab a cocktail, say a prayer for Wisconsin, and join us for one of our more chaotic episodes.  Because in the words of Jess:  “Stay away from quiet country boys who still live with their mamas.” Final verdict: 10 out of 8 paws. 🐾🐾🐾🐾 (Don't ask - it just happened)  Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail In this week’s episode of Crime and Cocktails with the PodCats, Jess, Erica, and Traci welcome TomCat Julian (aka the honorary feline of the night aka Party after Five) for a wild ride through Netflix’s The Perfect Neighbor — a disturbing true crime tale of Florida feuds, front porch fury, and a heaping dose of old-fashioned racism. Espresso martinis in hand, the crew dives headfirst into the story of Ajike “AJ” Owens and her neighbor Susan Lorincz — where one ordinary Ocala neighborhood spirals into a battleground of petty complaints and escalating tension. The kitties were in collective disbelief as they unpacked the case’s twists and turns. Or maybe just super hammered. Midway through the show, the PodCats called in fan-favorite PodKittie Bryn to offer her signature mix of humor and heart, while Erica’s PodKitty Victoria makes a surprise appearance to finally settle a long-running question about “back massagers.” It’s equal parts chaos, comedy, and catharsis — just the way we like it. We also loved having Julian on the mic (and a brief cameo from the OG TomCat, Justin). Let’s just say it was a lot more testosterone than the PodCats are used to — in the best way.  Final verdict: 8 out of 12 paws. 🐾🐾🐾🐾 Not perfect, but the use of police bodycam footage adds a fresh, gripping layer to the storytelling. This one comes with a friendly warning from the PodCats: always keep an eye on who’s living next door. Send us Fan Mail Jess and Traci are four hours into a Friday night when they decide to go full-send on Netflix’s new documentary aka Charlie Sheen. Pour a drink and settle in: we chat the coke, the meltdowns, the infamous “tiger blood” era, and the jaw-dropping personal revelations — yes, the ice-cube anecdote, the Apocalypse Now near-fatal set story, our takes on exes like Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, and our sudden, suspiciously intense obsession with Sean Penn. It’s the wild ride of a life built on excess, fame, and some truly baffling choices — and somehow, by the end, we love him even more. We call in our pod kitty Bryn, welcome an unexpected guest, and catch up with one of our OG PodCats, Tonia.  Tune in for the laughs, the cringe, and a “Would you rather…” that gets unapologetically ridiculous. Cheers 🥂 to tiger blood, winning, Virgo men, and surviving our own bad decisions.  The kitties gave this 400 out of 4 paws (Seriously - that's how good this is)  🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Content warning: discussion of substance use, sexual behavior, and HIV — listener discretion advised. Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Crime and Cocktails with the PodCats, Jess and the kitties dive into Netflix’s Unknown Number: The High School Catfish — an INSANE docuseries that unpacks one of the most elaborate catfishing cases to ever hit a high school community.  Of course, it wouldn’t be a PodCats episode without a little chaos — Mama Kitty gets a surprise “Happy Birthday” serenade, Jess discovers a vape that’s way too good, and the kitties tiptoe into a brief chatter about  Charlie Kirk’s  assassination and Charlie Sheen’s latest documentary. It’s a mix of bad and good mama reflection, wild tangents, and plenty of cat energy — the perfect recipe for an unforgettable episode. The kitties gave this 6 out of 6 paws. 🐾 🐾 🐾 Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail Most of the Podcats made it to the mic this week to tackle a documentary with quite possibly the longest title we've ever attempted to pronounce after two cocktails. This is also a part of our new twist - PodCats After Dark. Which means we get pretty raunchy and the content is absolutely unsuitable for anyone under 18. Put on your headphones kitties.  In short: A Deadly American Marriage covers the shocking case of Jason Corbett, an Irish businessman living in North Carolina with his wife, Molly Martens. On August 2, 2015, Jason was found brutally bludgeoned to death in their bedroom. Molly and her father—oh, just a former FBI agent named Tom Martens—fully admitted to the killing… but claimed it was all in self-defense. The documentary tries to walk a line between the two sides of the story—but let’s be honest, none of us bought what Molly was selling. We may have leaned a little harder on the cocktails than the crime-solving this week, but you’ll still get most of the key details, a lot of laughs, and—somehow—a spontaneous lesson on squirting from one of the kitties. You’re welcome. This episode gets a unanimous 6 out of 6 🐾🐾🐾—we showed up, we poured up, and we definitely judged Molly Martens the whole way through. Send us Fan Mail Jess and Traci are here with a couple of guests to discuss the three-part documentary This is the Zodiac Speaking, streaming on Netflix. But they all pre-gamed WAY too much so this is more like a Bad Moms podcast with  hear less lots of inappropriate conversation. We caution you to keep your children out of the car when you listen to this episode. Truely, we were hammered.  If you haven't seen this yet, the documentary explores the enduring mystery of the Zodiac killer, who terrorized the Bay Area in the late 1960s. Despite being linked to at least five murders, the Zodiac was never caught. Police identified Arthur Leigh Allen as a prime suspect, but he was never charged. Allen passed away in 1992, leaving the case unsolved—but this docuseries reexamines his potential guilt through shocking new revelations from those who knew him personally. T-Bone and Ivy - thanks for joining us on this episode!  Episode 2 of Season 6 is dedicated to the amazing James Bond - RIP our furry friend 🐈 PodCats gave this documentary 6 1/2 out of 8 paws so check it out soon!!  Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail This episode hosts just a couple of kitties - Jess and her guest T Bone. We do have to warn you that the kitties were sipping cocktails for HOURS before they got to Chowchilla so words are slurred and there is some confusion. But we did manage to get most of the story out. If none of what we said made sense, here is what the doc was all about: CNN Films and Max covered what was truly one of the weirdest mass kidnappings in history—the Chowchilla school bus abduction. This documentary featured exclusive interviews from survivors which is what really made it amazing!  Here’s what happened: On July 15, 1976, three masked men hijacked a school bus in Chowchilla, California. They kidnapped the driver and 26 kids, stuffed them into soundproof vans, and took them to a remote quarry, where they were buried alive in an underground chamber. With barely any food or water, air running out, and the roof caving in, one brave child led a daring escape. When the kidnappers were caught, their identities shocked everyone even more. This chilling event left deep scars on the survivors, who spent decades trying to rebuild their lives. The doc was directed by Paul Solet. The kitties gave Chowchilla 3 1/2 out of 4 paws 🌟🌟🌟 1/2 🐾 Just watch it yal  Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail Welcome to Season 6!  Traci and Jess sip expresso martinis and discuss the insanity of Ms. Elisabeth Finch as depicted in the documentary "Anatomy of Lies"......currently airing on Peacock.  We are captivated by scammer and grifter stories, as are most of us who don’t fabricate fake identities or take other peoples stories as our own. These tales offer a safe, vicarious thrill—an intriguing glimpse into lives seemingly unbound by the usual rules of right and wrong. (Plus, let’s admit it, some of these scammers have an undeniable flair for style!) This documentary details one of the most compelling grifter sagas we can recall. Like ever.  It details the story of Elisabeth Finch, the former Grey’s Anatomy writer who fabricated not only a cancer diagnosis but also a string of other personal tragedies. You need to watch this documentary to fully absorb how fully she devoted herself to the lies and the cover ups for the lies because it truly defies anything you have ever heard about before.  The PodCats had a surprise Tom Cat appearance halfway through this episode but we are not sure how much he contributed to the recap.  The PodCats gave this 4 out of 6 paws but in all fairness - Traci hadn't seen the last two episodes so we really suggest taking the time to watch this crazy doc! 👏🏼   Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail Traci and Jess made pineapple mimosas to pregame for this one! You will never drink them with OJ again once you try pineapple 🍍😋🍹 We were able to really get into a good convo about this wild documentary without the distractions of our missing PodCats but we totally missed those wild pussycats.  BTW - This was a recommendation of Traci's and it was SO GOOD! Here is the gist - thirty-six years after placing her baby girl for adoption, a woman discovered that the child had been missing for 21 years. How insane is that? This isn’t the plot of a mystery novel or a fictional movie—it’s the real story that was told on the Netflix doc released in September of 2024.  This is a two-part series that chronicles Cathy Terkanian’s determined search for her daughter, Aundria Bowman. Though she didn’t raise her, Terkanian’s maternal instincts shine through as she bonds with Aundria’s friends and teams up with online investigators to unravel the case. As Terkanian powerfully states, "I saw the fire, and I walked right in it." And man she had a few great quotes. This mama is a bad ass!!  The PodCats gave this 8 out of 4 paws 👏🏼 so check it out and then listen in and see if we felt the same as you!

Send us Fan Mail Jess, Traci and Madison are all in the house discussing this insightful documentary that we ALL loved! The cocktails were flowing so the kitties got off track from time to time but you will get the gist of it.   Stormy premiered on Peacock March 18, 2024.  We all found Stormy Daniels to be a complex, deeply compassionate women and her story is that of a widely misunderstood individual.  This goes into her childhood, her days as an adult contract star and then bridges into her worldwide infamy after the Trump story broke.  There are tons of interviews with prominent figures who worked with or covered her story, such as Rachel Maddow, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Rogen. Included is the archival footage from a documentary film shot by Dallas Nicks who later had a romantic relationship with Daniels. It all boils down to how a single sexual encounter with the then-reality TV star has virtually destroyed Daniels’ life, which deeply caused havoc on her family, her relationships, and her career. There was a lot of cocktails when this was recorded, so bear with us and enjoy the party!  The PodCats gave this documentary 12 out of 6 paws 👏🏼  so you should probably get on it if you haven't seen it yet!

Send us Fan Mail Jess, Madison and Traci are all in the house discussing the Docuseries about Ashley Madison on Netflix. If you are not familiar with Ashely Madison, it is the dating website where married people can find someone to cheat with. And in 2015, they were super hacked by The Impact Team. This person or persons got into their database and exposed the names, personal info and preferences of more than 30 MILLION users.  There was a lot of cocktails when this was recorded, so bear with us and enjoy the party!   The PodCats gave this documentary 10 out of 10 paws 👏🏼  so you should probably watch it‼️   Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail The PodCats are mostly all in the pod today with the exception of Traci who missed all of the chaos.  Our friend Ivy joined us from Canada and we had a Tom Cat in the house!! Thanks for having some fun with us Ivy & Justin!   "Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God"  is a documentary that explores the life and death of Amy Carlson, also known as Mother God. She claimed to be a spiritual savior and built a cult following through her online manifestos and live-streaming sessions.  Unfortunately, we had too many cocktails and got sidetracked more than usual on this one. We had a call in from one of the PodKittens and many, many other distractions. Hopefully you will jump in and enjoy our party.  Stay tuned for the bonus at the very end when Madison takes a call in the middle of our podcast.    The PodCats gave this documentary 9 1/2 out of 10 paws 👏🏼  so you should probably watch it‼️   Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail Most of the PodCats are in the house to  chat about a deadly love triangle in the Netflix Documentary called Lover, Stalker, Killer.  This is the true story of how auto mechanic Dave Kroupa became the center of an online dating nightmare that resulted in years of stalking and harassment, arson, and a murder.  There are interviews with Dave Kroupa, law enforcement officials, and other main people central to the events to help portray all the situations that occurred surrounding the eventual crimes. One unusual but super cool element to this documentary, is that Dave actually plays himself in many of the film's dramatic reenactment scenes. We have some questions about Dave but we haven't gotten our answers yet from Liz. Stay tuned on that.  We loved this documentary, especially because of the truly shocking twist. We suggest watching this one BEFORE you listen to our podcast so we don't spoil it!    The PodCats gave this documentary 6 out of 6 paws 🐾 🐾 🐾  so you should probably watch it‼️   Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail Most of the PodCats are in the house to  chat about all the twists and turns in the INSANE Netflix docuseries about the kidnapping of Denise Huskins.  This is a three-part docuseries from The Tinder Swindler  filmmakers Felicity Morris and Bernadette Higgin.  They did a great job combining interrogation footage, interviews, and audio recordings to describe how Denise Huskin and Aaron Quinn's story became a horrifying example of what can happen when the justice system fails the victims of a crime. The kitties randomly weaved in a long winded conversation about Michael Jackson and the documentary, Leaving Neverland. And that lead to the new documentary called The Greatest Night in Pop, which is all about the creation of the We Are the World charity single. Bear with them, they had a few cocktails and whatnot 🤣 The PodCats gave this documentary 6 out of 6 paws 🐾 🐾 🐾  so you should probably watch it‼️  Support the show If you love the PodCats, you can support the show and keeping it ad free with a recurring or one time donation at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1840377/support Check out our website at https://www.catsinthepod.com and be sure to follow us on FB  https://www.facebook.com/thecatsinthepod   We hope you enjoy this season of Crime & Cocktails 🍷 🐾 😸 🐾 😸 🍷

Send us Fan Mail All the cats are in the pod to discuss this absolutely insane docuseries about a young lady named Natalia Grace, who was initially assumed to be a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan. Natalia was born with a rare bone growth disorder which added to some of the confusion when it was potentially discoverd that she may have actually been a fully grown adult at the time of her adoption.  We needed a lot of cocktails for this one. The case had more twists and turns than your favorite roller coaster and we all had mixed emotions. But, we did give this 8 out of 8 paws so you might want to check it out!  The Curious Case of Natalia Grace is currently airing on Hulu, Max, Discovery and Amazon Prime.
