Ep.#25- Berserker Built: Saving Veterans and First Responders - Tim DeMaio
2024/02/27
Tim DeMaio has served in the Navy for 10 years and then followed up his military career as an overseas contractor. As a result of his experiences in this line of work, he suffered multiple TBI's (traumatic brain injuries), PTSI (post traumatic stress injury), severe migraines, tinnitus, various other traumas and the weight of guilt.
In his quest to heal, he spent the better part of 3 years in and out of the care of brain specialists around the world, and yet nothing worked. He was directed to "The Mission Within", an organization dedicated to saving and healing veterans...
On this podcast, he shares his story of healing and passion of designing skateboards to help others find recovery as well.

Can you imagine running across the state of Montana?!
Becca Boylan actually did it.
475.75 total miles ran averaging a marathon/day.
All to bring awareness to her mother's battle with cancer. This is a mind-blowing story of hope, mindset, sheer grit and love that will inspire and encourage you.

Ep.#22- Neuroscience: Battling Invisible Injuries - Kate Pate
2023/11/20
It was such a privilege to sit down with Kate Pate, a remarkably intelligent human who uses her superpower in neurophysiology to change lives with her military-specific device company, and also within many non-profit veteran organizations.
Kate is a Ph.D Neurophysiologist, coach, researcher, founder and CEO of her company Corona Medical. She advocates for functional and non-traditional approaches to healing, and helps people find the path that works best for them. Her methods are rooted as much in science as experience, having spend the better part of her own life healing from both visible and invisible injuries.

Ep.#21- "Fireside Chat"- Nick + Anna Bechtold
2023/10/01
Nick and Anna Bechtold are co-owners of Bozeman, MT based Movement Physio.
Nick is a Montana native and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Montana in Missoula, MT in 2015. He also received his Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from the University of Montana. He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Crossfit Level 1 Trainer. His treatment approach combines skilled, hands-on, manual therapy techniques with personalized exercise programming to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals and maintain them throughout their lifespan.
Anna also received her Doctorate at University of Montana in Missoula, MT in 2016. She received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology at Washington State University. She is Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist and a Level-1 CrossFit trainer. Anna has additional training and certifications specializing in the fitness athlete, the neck and back, pre and post-partum athletes, and the endurance athlete.
They are partners in business and in life, and we had the opportunity to sit down and discuss the pros and cons of cash-based private practice. The three of us have lots of similarities on how we treat our clientele and how we view returning athletes to the things they love doing in the midst of injury. I loved the chance to talk shop with other practitioners who took similar risks with our career paths.

Ep.#20- Survivor - Matt Cable
2023/08/22
This episode features Matt Cable sharing his story of surviving cancer not once, but twice. He currently has a thriving athletic career in addition to having a beautiful family even after he and his wife were told by medical professionals having children was improbable. The reoccurring theme throughout this episode is that Matt undoubtedly beats the odds time and time again. Matt is a retired USAF veteran, a member of the grid league Tampa Bay Brigade, and appeared on NBC's Titan Games with The Rock.
The romantic in me loved hearing the story of how Matt and Ensley met (she is also a cancer survivor!), how she stayed by his side through his second cancer journey while battling her own and has never left his side. Her story is also one of selflessness, grit, and overcoming any and all obstacles.

* I tried a new venue to record this podcast in, and unfortunately I am not pleased with the sound quality. Good news is Matt sounds awesome, but the result on my end is disappointing. I apologize for this, and I'll fix it for the next epidode. Please enjoy this amazing story regardless! *

Ep.#19- SNAP into High Performance- David Lindsay
2023/06/19
On this podcast, I had the awesome opportunity to speak with Australian David Lindsay. He speaks about his acronym SNAP for boosting performance in the work place, failing forward, how we need problems and feedback, and dealing with energy vampires (I love this term...). We bounce this back to the tie we see between athletics and productivity in our daily jobs.
David speaks from experience as a personal trainer and a professional speaker. He has extensive training in the Martial Arts... a black belt in Wing Chun, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, trained in submission wrestling and has had several MMA Cage Fights. He has also trained as a Professional Arm Wrestler!

Ep.#14 - The Anti-Ice Man - Gary Reinl
2022/11/09
This episode challenges the R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) protocol. Notoriously used within athletic training rooms, physical therapy clinics, and hospitals for decades, Gary Reinl uses physiology and logic to create a shift in thinking for practitioners and lay people alike.
Gary has been deeply involved with sports medicine for the last 50 years, and his book "De-Iced: The Illusionary Treatment Option" has sparked a revolution within the sports medicine community and how we think about administering ice and the RICE protocol to injuries.
