Pursuing Peace and Unity Without Compromising Truth
2026/10/01
Ephesians 4 calls Christians to maintain the unity of the Spirit with humility, patience, and love. Dave Jenkins explains why that unity rests on the truth of the gospel, how to distinguish essential doctrines from secondary disagreements and matters of Christian liberty, and how to pursue peace without compromising Scripture. Because believers are united in Christ, they can stand firm in truth while treating one another with grace. Cling to What Is Good in a Confused World
2026/09/24
Our culture increasingly treats good and evil as matters of personal preference. Romans 12:9 calls Christians to a different way of life: genuine love, hatred of evil, and steadfast devotion to what is good. Dave Jenkins explains why God's character and Word provide the only trustworthy standard for morality. He also considers how biblical love holds truth and compassion together, how believers can practice daily discernment, and how union with Christ enables Christians to pursue lives that glorify God. Recognizing and Resisting Subtle False Teaching
2026/09/17
False teaching does not always openly deny the gospel. It can sound biblical while quietly distorting the truth of God's Word. In this episode, Dave Jenkins examines Acts 17:11 and the example of the Bereans, who eagerly received teaching while searching the Scriptures to test what they heard. Biblical discernment is neither cynical nor gullible. It is the loving and necessary practice of measuring every spiritual claim by God's sufficient and authoritative Word. Christians are called to know Scripture deeply, evaluate teaching carefully, and remain connected to a biblically faithful local church. The best defense against false teaching is not becoming an expert in every error. It is becoming so grounded in the true gospel of Jesus Christ that error is recognized when it appears. 2026/09/10

Renewed Minds: Resisting the World
2026/09/03
Romans 12:1–2 teaches that the Christian life begins with the mercy of God and calls believers to offer their whole lives to Him in worship. Dave Jenkins explains why Christians must not be shaped by the values of the world, but transformed through the ongoing renewal of their minds by God's Word. This episode considers biblical discernment, the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, and how believers grow in Christlikeness through the gospel. Renewing Your Mind Through the Word of God
2026/08/27
Christians are continually being influenced by the messages, values, and ideas surrounding them. Romans 12:1–2 calls believers not to be conformed to the world but to be transformed through the renewing of their minds. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains how the Word of God reshapes the believer's thinking, desires, decisions, and conduct. He considers the difference between external behavior modification and the inward transformation produced by God through His truth. Dave also provides three practical ways Christians can pursue a renewed mind: consistently reading Scripture, evaluating their assumptions according to God's Word, and meditating on biblical truth. Because believers are united to Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is actively renewing them and conforming them to Christ through the Word of God. Testing Spiritual Experiences by the Word of God
2026/08/20
How can Christians determine whether a spiritual experience, dream, impression, or supernatural claim is truly from God? In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains why every spiritual experience must be evaluated by the authoritative and sufficient Word of God. First John 4:1 commands believers to test the spirits, while 1 Thessalonians 5:21 instructs Christians to test everything and hold fast to what is good. Christians are called neither to accept every spiritual claim nor to reject everything automatically. They are called to exercise careful, Scripture-governed discernment. This episode considers the sufficiency of Scripture, the danger of treating personal experience as the highest authority, the example of the Bereans, and three practical tests Christians can use when evaluating spiritual claims. Experiences may be powerful and emotionally meaningful, but Scripture alone is the final authority for Christian faith and practice. Holiness Is Essential for Christian Living
2026/08/13
Holiness is not a way for Christians to earn God's acceptance. It is the fruit of God's saving and transforming grace. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains why holiness is essential for Christian living. He considers what it means to be set apart for God, why holiness must be distinguished from legalism, and how believers grow in Christlikeness through Scripture, repentance, obedience, and the work of the Holy Spirit. The pursuit of holiness flows from salvation rather than leading to salvation. The same Savior who justifies His people is also sanctifying them. Conviction vs. Condemnation: Freedom from Guilt in Christ
2026/08/06
How can Christians distinguish the Holy Spirit's conviction from crushing condemnation? Although both may involve an awareness of sin, they lead believers in completely different directions. Condemnation declares that there is no hope, that God is finished with you, and that your sin is greater than His grace. Biblical conviction exposes specific sin so that you will confess it, repent, trust Christ, and return to joyful fellowship with God. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins examines Romans 8:1, John 16:8, Psalm 32, Hebrews 4:16, and 1 John 1:9 to explain why believers no longer stand condemned before God. Jesus Christ bore the complete judgment their sins deserved, securing forgiveness, justification, and peace with God. Christians do not overcome guilt through endless introspection, religious effort, or ongoing self-punishment. They overcome it by looking to Christ, receiving His forgiveness, and resting in His finished work. The Gospel Frees Us from Shame and Pride
2026/07/30
Shame says that we are unworthy and can never be accepted. Pride says that we are sufficient and do not need anyone's help. While they appear to be opposite struggles, both seek identity and worth apart from Jesus Christ. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains from Romans 3:22–24 how the gospel humbles human pride while healing the shame of repentant sinners. All people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, leaving no room for boasting. Yet believers are justified freely by God's grace through the redemption accomplished by Christ. The cross exposes the seriousness of our sin and displays the greatness of God's grace. Because Christ bore the guilt and condemnation His people deserve, Christians no longer need to prove themselves through pride or hide themselves in shame. Their forgiveness, acceptance, and identity rest securely in the finished work and perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ alone. The Righteousness of God Revealed in the Gospel
2026/07/23
In this episode of Anchored in the Word with Dave, Dave Jenkins explains Romans 1:16–17 and the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel. Paul teaches that the gospel is the power of God for salvation because it reveals how sinners are made right with a holy God through Jesus Christ alone. Dave explains the meaning of the righteousness of God, justification by faith alone, the importance of Habakkuk 2:4, and why this doctrine became central to the Protestant Reformation. This episode reminds Christians to rest in Christ rather than their own performance, preach the gospel to themselves daily, and live boldly and unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
