"Son, you're anointed," were some of the first words I uttered to Chef Q after I had bitten "The Handshake." It's a Cajun-style Turkey Panini on Tuscan pane bread filled with flavor and joy in each bite. I had known Q for years, and it was also my first time visiting the cafe'. Captured with an idea to provide healthier food options in his community of Hyde Park, Chicago, Chef Q began by questioning his path to realizing his dreams. After a move from Los Angeles and wondering which route he would take, his gift was whispering to him through catering gigs. 7323 is the numerical address of his grandmother's home where he found his love for food and serving others. In this episode we dove deep into the setups, setbacks, obstacles, tears, and ultimately the triumph! After testing the market, Chef Q began to seek ways to bring the dream to reality. After being awarded a grant, he received the necessary funds to get started and bring light to a blighted park. Most of us never sit down to imagine what our lives will be like 10 years from now. Some of us joke and say the world will be over by then, others just never think about it because they are so caught up on our day to day, we never think about the future. I would implore everyone to take some time to reflect and ask ourselves, "How far will we be 10 years from now?" Are you driving the car you want? Creating the products or business you desire? Are you able to tuck your kids in at night without being too tired? Is your health in good standing? Are your relationships thriving? Most of us never ask these questions and possibly never recognize the opportunity we have right now to ensure our futures are successful.
