They Rebooted this Doctor Who Spin-off
2026/10/04
Today on the pod we start series 5 of our Sarah Jane Adventures reviews... a series that was shaping up to be a bit of a reboot of the show. Also, Doctor Who returns to the movies and should Who consider an AI soundtrack......... :PSky was the first serial of series 5 of The Sarah Jane Adventures. It was written by Phil Ford and directed by Ashley Way. Like all of series 5, it was actually filmed as a part of series 4, roughly a year before its broadcast. This production scheduling allowed for the episode to be completed and broadcast after the death of Elisabeth Sladen. It also introduced Sky Smith, who would later become the adoptive daughter of Sarah Jane.Although the story introduced a new regular character, it also contained the last appearances of Gita Chandra, Professor Celeste Rivers and the Shopkeeper. Due to the unexpected end of production, none of these characters were given a narrative conclusion; Sky is merely their final story. The Sarah Jane Adventures is a British science fiction television programme produced by BBC Cymru Wales for CBBC, created by Russell T Davies, and starring Elisabeth Sladen. The programme is a spin-off of the long-running BBC science fiction programme Doctor Who, and the second primarily targeted towards children after Totally Doctor Who. It focuses on the adventures of Sarah Jane Smith, an investigative journalist living in Ealing, London, who, as a young woman, had numerous adventures across time and space with the Doctor. The show ran for five years until Sladen's death in 2011.Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series first broadcast by the BBC in 1963. The series, created by Sydney Newman, C. E. The transition between actors is woven into the story via the plot device of regeneration. When a Time Lord is fatally injured or weakened by old age, their cells regenerate into a new body; while they retain their memories, their personality changes.
