Text Us! Continuing our discussion of Daniel, we examine the overall structure of the book. What types of genres do we find in Daniel? Further, how does the original language play a part in the way we understand the book? These are just a couple of the questions that we attempt to answer on this episode.  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! Can the message of the book of Daniel be applied today? John Lennox believes so! In this episode, we discuss a book by John Lennox titled, "Against the Flow: The Inspiration of Daniel in an Age of Relativism". Dr. Lennox argues that much of our modern culture mirrors the wickedness of ancient Babylon. However, the believer can still live a life that reflects the glory of God, even in a culture that rejects him.  If you would like to purchase a copy of the book by Dr. Lennox, you can do that here: https://a.co/d/02EdYG0T If you would like a copy of the chart referenced by Dr. Hough in this episode, you can find that here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Fz5u2M-YUxJuNqZEE_iVXdaFInkIfpxN/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117211129283342310305&rtpof=true&sd=true To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! On this episode, we address a question that was posed by a listener. He asked, "does it matter how many persons there are within the Godhead?". We give three reasons as to why one's view of the Godhead really does matter.  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! We are continuing our examination of Scriptural verses that are leaned on heavily by Calvinists to defend their doctrinal stance. When John states, "they went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us..." in 1John 2:19, is he describing average individuals that claim to have fellowship with the true church? Or, is there something more that John is intending to communicate in this verse? Those are the questions we seek to address in this episode. Text Us! In this episode, we discuss two alternative interpretations of Acts 13:48. Is this a rock solid proof text for the Calvinist, or can it be understood from an Arminian theological framework?  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! We continue our discussion of Ephesians 5. In this episode, we capitalize on a perspective of Ephesians 5 that seems contrary to the narrative that is often pushed. Many have argued that Paul was dealing in a patriarchal society, and many of the commands he gave was in regard to that societal mindset. However, is that really the case, or was Paul actually addressing issues that had arisen as the culture began to shift toward an embrace of egalitarianism?  If you would like to purchase the commentary that was referenced in this episode, you can find it here: https://a.co/d/03wYDZjZ To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! On this episode, we spend some time discussing a book written by Gavin Ortlund titled, "Finding the Right Hills to Die On: A Case for Theological Triage". In this book, Dr. Ortlund gives some helpful examples and arguments as to how a believer should categorize various doctrines. In all things, as Dr. Ortlund states, we should ultimately desire Godliness, and promote the welfare of the body of Christ! Text Us! On this episode, we spend some time responding to a listener question. The listener wrote in and asked, "what should be our modern day view of Israel?". The listener then proceeded to ask what the role of the Jewish people is in Revelation and the end times. We spend some time addressing these questions, and laying out or view concerning the relationship of the Church to Israel from our understanding of what Scripture teaches.  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! We are continuing our discussion of how the Pentecostal experience should affect the lives of those that have been partakers of it. In this episode, we key in on how that experience should impact the marriage relationship. What roles do husbands and wives play in the home, and how does the Pentecostal experience affect the way that we view those roles? We hope you find this discussion helpful! Text Us! God not only wants our homes to be saturated by the transformational power of our personal Pentecostal experience, but he wants each individual in our family to experience this power as well! On this episode, we demonstrate the importance of the family experiencing pentecost together, as we key in on certain biblical passages and accounts that affirm this truth.  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! We often place an emphasis on Spirit infilling as it affects us in our worship at the house of God. That is certainly vitally important. However, sadly, little emphasis is placed on the affect Spirit infilling should have on our homes and families. That is precisely what we focus on in this episode.  To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! In this episode, we continue our discussion on Annihilationism with Chris Jordon. We specifically address 2 of the points made by Greg Boyd in his article on Annihilationism. The first point is whether a loving God can truly allow a person to suffer in a literal eternal hell. The second point is whether the eternality of hell somehow undermines the victorious nature of God. Here is the link to the article we discuss in this episode: https://reknew.org/2008/01/the-case-for-annihilationism/ Here is the book on hell that was referenced by Zondervan: https://a.co/d/4EzmJtX To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html. Text Us! On this episode, we are joined by one of our newest professors at Free Gospel Bible Institute, Chris Jordon, to discuss the Annihilationist perspective on eternity. In this episode we address an article written by Greg Boyd. Particularly, we look at his claim that the soul of man is mortal and only receives immortality when it is granted eternal life from God at salvation. Further, we dissect the hermeneutical approach to terms in Scripture that seem to indicate that "eternal" and "forever" do not necessarily need to be taken in a literal sense.  Here is the article we address in the episode: https://reknew.org/2008/01/the-case-for-annihilationism/ Here is the book on Hell by Zondervan that was referenced in the episode: https://a.co/d/2Wxzoeb To learn more about our online Pneumatology and New Testament Survey Courses, click here https://www.fgbi.org/fast-track.html.
