2026/02/05
Getting an ADHD diagnosis isn’t always a straightforward path, and for many, it can feel confusing, overwhelming, or simply out of reach. In this week's episode of The ADHD Women’s Wellbeing Podcast, I’m joined by Vicki George, specialist nurse and founder of The ADHD Nurse, who’s working to make ADHD assessments more accessible, inclusive and compassionate, especially for women and adolescents. This is a practical, myth‑busting and empowering episode for anyone who feels stuck or confused by the ADHD assessment process, is unsure who can assess them or whether their past diagnosis was thorough enough, feels uncomfortable being asked to involve family, is exploring non‑medication approaches, or is navigating perimenopause and wondering how hormonal changes affect ADHD and treatment. 2026/02/02
In this week's More Yourself episode, I wanted to share a snippet from a recent guest workshop in the More Yourself Community. In this clip, Belinda Edington, executive functioning coach and director of MindSpark CIC, joined the More Yourself Community to offer a gentle yet powerful reframing of what executive functioning really is and what it means for women with ADHD. Belinda breaks down the science behind executive functioning and helps us move away from shame or self-blame towards understanding and support. In this clip, we explore: How executive function skills show up in everyday lifeThe difference between knowing what to do and being able to do itThe connection between ADHD, emotional regulation, memory and motivationWhy struggles with focus, planning or impulsivity are not personal failingsThe role of compassion and scaffolding in building executive functioning skills Timestamps: 05:46– What is Executive Functioning?07:03 – Metacognition and Memory Explained13:00 – Time Blindness16:18 – ADHD and Misdiagnosis17:00 – Reframing Laziness17:55 – Neuroplasticity and Building New Skills18:35 – Tools to Support Executive Function This is a reminder that your challenges are not about willpower; they’re about brain function. Peaceful Parenting for PDA Kids: Compassionate Strategies That Help Them Thrive
2026/01/29
Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), pervasive drive for autonomy, is a deeply misunderstood and often overlooked profile within the neurodivergent spectrum. For many families, living with PDA can feel confusing, isolating, and emotionally overwhelming, especially when traditional parenting approaches seem to make things harder, not easier. In this powerful episode, I’m joined by Dr. Casey Ehrlich, a researcher, coach, and mother to two PDA children, who brings both personal insight and professional expertise to help us reframe what’s really going on beneath the behaviours. If you’ve ever been told your child is “oppositional” or “defiant,” or your child resists even basic everyday requests, from brushing their teeth to getting dressed, or you're exhausted from trying to get it “right,” and you’re starting to question the very foundations of what parenting is “supposed” to look like... This conversation is for you. With the right support and education, children with PDA can thrive. And as parents, we can begin to feel more resourced, more connected, and far less alone in supporting our kids. Tickets to our first LIVE ADHD Women's Wellbeing Event are ON SALE!Click here to book your ticket for a full day of community, connection, awareness and growth. Key Takeaways: Why Casey prefers the term "pervasive drive for autonomy"How PDA can override even basic needs like eating, hygiene and safetyWhy traditional parenting approaches often backfire and what to try insteadThe four observable PDA traits: survival drive for autonomy, equalising, masking, and need for undivided attentionHow PDA differs from Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)What nervous system dysregulation looks like in PDA children and how to support itThe emotional toll on parents and how to care for yourself tooHow animals can support emotional regulation for PDA kidsWhat PDA can look like in adulthood (and why it's often misread as narcissism or avoidance) Timestamps 07:01: A Deep Dive into Pervasive Drive for Autonomy12:22: Understanding Oppositional Defiance and PDA18:13: The Journey of Parenting Neurodivergent Children23:34: A Paradigm Shift to Parenting PDA Kids26:51: Understanding PDA and Burnout35:57: Nervous System Activation in Parenting and Adult Life41:21: The Impact of PDA on Relationships47:54: Navigating Parental Challenges Tickets to our first LIVE ADHD Women's Wellbeing Event are ON SALE!We're so excited to be offering you a full day of real-life connection, calm, and community for late-diagnosed women ready to feel understood, supported, and seen. Making Inner Peace Your 2026 Priority and Finding Your Flow
2026/01/19
For our first More Yourself episode of the year, I wanted to share with you the quiet but powerful commitment I have made to myself to prioritise my inner peace above everything else this year. In this episode, I reflect on the pull I felt to be productive and perform in 2025, and how this year I am choosing to follow invitations that are aligned with my values, that encourage a state of flow, and to step into the version of me which feels most true. This year, I am hopeful that more of us will begin to drop the mask, give ourselves permission to follow what lights us up and to reclaim peace as a daily, radical act of self-trust. In this episode, I explore:How I’m actively prioritising inner peace, and what that looks like in practiceWhy I’ve stopped making decisions that go against my nervous systemWhat flow means to me, and how the podcast became a surprising example of itThe power of doing more of what feels effortless, energising and easefulWhy this year isn’t about fixing or achieving, but about remembering what brings us aliveHow ADHD awareness continues to evolve and the links to hormones, inflammation, pain, anxiety, addiction and more I hope this episode helps you to reflect on what brings you peace and a sense of flow, so that you can move through this year with more softness, more honesty, and more joy? Advocating for Your ADHD Hormonal Health: What Women Need to Know with Dr Helen Wall
2025/11/27
In this week’s episode of The ADHD Women’s Wellbeing Podcast, we’re exploring the complex and often overlooked intersection of ADHD, hormones, and women’s mental health, particularly during pivotal life transitions like perimenopause. I’m joined by Dr. Helen Wall, a GP and registered menopause specialist with the British Menopause Society. Helen is also a resident GP on BBC Breakfast, a columnist for Woman magazine, and public health clinical director in Greater Manchester. She therefore brings both clinical expertise and real-world empathy to bridge the gap between professional healthcare and accessible, compassionate advice to ensure women feel heard, understood, and properly supported. We explore why so many women feel dismissed or misdiagnosed when seeking help for emotional and physical symptoms related to hormone fluctuations, and touch on everything from progesterone sensitivity and HRT, to advocating for yourself at the GP, and the growing need for women’s health education that takes neurodiversity seriously. I discuss the crossover of ADHD and hormones in my new book, The ADHD Women's Wellbeing Toolkit, which is now available. Grab your copy here! Key Takeaways: Why so many women with ADHD report mental health declines during perimenopause, including PMDD, anxiety, and mood disorders. The connection between hormonal sensitivity and neurodivergence, and why it's often overlooked by mainstream medicine. How stereotypes and stigma contribute to late ADHD diagnosis in women, especially in midlife. The shift in how menopause is being discussed and treated post-COVID.The dangers of a "one-size-fits-all" approach to HRT and why personalised prescriptions matter. Why clinicians must join the dots between long-term anxiety and depression and undiagnosed ADHD or hormonal issues. The growing importance of patient-led care and better GP education around menopause and neurodiversity. How to advocate for yourself at the doctor’s office when your concerns have been dismissed. Navigating Winter with ADHD: Tips for Seasonal Affective Disorder
2025/11/24
Have you been struggling to get out of bed lately, stick to your routines or noticed a shift in your mood as the days have got shorter? If your answer is yes, this episode is for you! In this More Yourself episode, we revisit a clip from my recent workshop about Resting Through the Seasons. We discussed the impact of natural light and seasonal shifts on sleep, circadian rhythm and emotional regulation for women with ADHD. As well as exploring the small changes you can make to have a big impact. This isn’t about quick wins or productivity hacks. It’s about understanding your body, honouring your needs, and finding rhythms that feel good to you. My new book, The ADHD Women's Wellbeing Toolkit, is now available, grab your copy here! Key Takeaways: How seasonal changes impact sleep, mood, and energy, especially for women with ADHDWhy morning light is a natural “medicine” that helps regulate melatonin, mood, and motivationThe role of circadian rhythms and how to work with your internal clock, not against itWhy ADHD night owls may struggle more during seasonal shiftsThe influence of hormones (e.g. HRT and progesterone) on sleep quality and emotional regulationTips for creating calming, gentle rituals and a sleep-friendly bedroom environmentWhy acknowledging the impact of seasonal change (without blame) is key to self-compassion Timestamps: 00:00: Understanding Seasonal Changes and Sleep Quality00:26: Understanding ADHD and Circadian Rhythms07:23: The Importance of Morning Light for ADHD Management12:07: The Importance of Evening Routines for Rest and Recovery15:52: Understanding Hormonal Influences on Sleep If you enjoyed this clip, we'd love you to join us for our next live workshop on 16th December.
