245. I Prayed for an Answer About Divorce… and Felt More Confused
2026/10/05
Have you been praying for an answer about your marriage or divorce and still don’t know what to do? Maybe you’ve asked God whether you should stay, leave, keep trying, or let go. Maybe you thought you received an answer, but you don’t like it. Or maybe you feel like you know what God is asking you to do, but you’re afraid to act on it. In this episode, Jenn explores what the Bible teaches us about receiving answers from God and why His direction doesn’t look the same for everyone. Through the stories of Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Paul, Joseph, and even Jesus Christ, you’ll see that sometimes God says go, sometimes He says wait, sometimes He invites us to rest, and sometimes He gives us enough light for only the next step. You’ll also learn why someone else’s revelation about their marriage or divorce is not necessarily the answer for yours, how to keep seeking God when clarity doesn’t come quickly, and different questions you can bring to Him when “Should I stay or should I go?” doesn’t seem to be getting an answer. If you’re stuck in the messy middle, waiting for clarity, afraid of the answer, or wondering if God is even hearing you, this episode offers hope: you don’t have to see the entire road to take the next faithful step. 244. 5 Lies Divorce Makes You Believe About Yourself
2026/09/28
5 Lies Divorce Makes You Believe About Yourself What if some of the most painful things you believe about your divorce aren't actually true? After reading thousands of comments and having countless conversations with people navigating divorce, I've noticed something interesting. Different people, different marriages, different circumstances, but so many of the same painful beliefs. "I'll never trust again." "My kids are ruined." "God abandoned me." "My marriage failed because I wasn't enough." "I'll always be alone." Sound familiar? In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, we're unpacking five common beliefs that can keep you stuck in shame, fear, and hopelessness after divorce. I'll coach you through each one and help you recognize the difference between what happened to you and what you've made it mean about yourself. We'll explore how to rebuild trust, release guilt about your children, reconnect with God when your prayers weren't answered the way you hoped, and stop allowing your divorce to define your worth or determine your future. Your divorce may have changed your life, but it doesn't get to decide who you are or what happens next. Whether you're navigating separation, healing after divorce, or rebuilding your life and faith, this conversation will help you begin questioning the beliefs keeping you from moving forward. You can grieve what you've lost, trust God with what you don't understand, and still find joy in the journey. Ready for more support on your healing journey? 243. Can Trust Be Rebuilt After Betrayal with Geoff Steurer
2026/09/21
What happens when the person you trusted most breaks that trust? Can a marriage heal after betrayal? How do you know if you're seeing genuine change or just hearing more promises? In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, Jenn sits down with licensed marriage and family therapist Geoff Steurer, who has more than 25 years of experience helping individuals and couples heal from betrayal, trauma, and disconnection. Together, they talk about what rebuilding trust actually requires, why forgiveness doesn't automatically mean trust or reconciliation, how to recognize genuine accountability and change, and what healthy boundaries can look like after betrayal. They also discuss how to rebuild trust in yourself, what to consider when you're unsure whether to stay or leave, and how faith can support healing while still making room for therapy, accountability, and personal responsibility. And for those whose marriages didn't survive betrayal, Geoff shares insight into healing without the answers, apology, or closure you hoped to receive, and learning to trust again moving forward. Whether you're fighting for your marriage, deciding what comes next, or rebuilding your life after divorce, this conversation will help you better understand what healing and healthy trust can look like. 242. What My Injury Taught Me About Healing After Divorce
2026/09/14
Can you be hurting more than you realize, even when you think you’re doing okay? After months of pushing through recurring plantar fasciitis, my plantar fascia suddenly ruptured on the pickleball court. One minute I was playing the match of my life, and the next I couldn’t walk. Now I’m in a boot, on a scooter, and being forced to slow down and let my body heal. And it got me thinking about divorce. So many of us learn how to function through pain. We work, parent, go to church, exercise, take care of everyone else, and keep moving forward. We tell ourselves we’re fine because we’re still functioning. But underlying pain doesn’t always disappear just because we’ve learned how to live with it. In this episode, I’m sharing what my injury is teaching me about recognizing the warning signs, getting the right help, and the important difference between managing pain and actually healing. We’ll also talk about how prolonged divorce stress can affect your physical and emotional health, why support matters, and how faith, professional help, and divorce coaching can help you take your next right step. You don’t have to wait until something in your life “pops” to decide it deserves your attention. 241. Why Faithful Women Stay in Unhappy Marriages
2026/09/07
Why do so many faithful Christian and Latter-day Saint women feel trapped in unhappy marriages, even when they deeply believe in marriage, family, and honoring their covenants? Sometimes it’s finances. Sometimes it’s children, geography, fear of starting over, spiritual pressure, or worrying about what other people will think. And sometimes, without even realizing it, a woman can begin to believe, “I don’t have a choice.” In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, we’re talking about the difference between choosing to stay in your marriage and believing you have no choice but to stay. We’ll explore some of the hidden reasons women feel stuck, how controlling behaviors can slowly affect your sense of self, and why recognizing your agency doesn’t automatically mean leaving your marriage. You can love God, honor your covenants, believe deeply in marriage, and still be honest about what isn’t working. You can work on your marriage while also becoming stronger, wiser, more confident, and more connected to God. 240. You Don’t Need More Divorce Advice. You Need This
2026/08/31
What are the questions about divorce you’re afraid to say out loud? Will I ever love again? Did God want my divorce? Should I have stayed longer? Could I have done more? Can my marriage still be saved? Will my children resent me? What if I’m actually happier divorced? And will I ever recognize myself again? In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, we’re talking honestly about some of the hardest questions Christian and Latter-day Saint men and women face before, during, and after divorce. There aren’t always simple answers. But there are healthier questions we can ask, lessons we can learn, and ways to move forward without abandoning our faith or spending years second-guessing the past. We’ll talk about reconciliation, regret, dating your ex, children and divorce, finding love again, rebuilding your identity, and most importantly, learning to trust God when your life looks nothing like you thought it would. Divorce may be part of your story, but it does not get to write the final chapter. God has not given up on you, and your best days do not have to be behind you. 239. What If the Change You're Waiting For Begins With You with Bob Smith
2026/08/24
What if the change you’re waiting for doesn’t begin with your spouse, your relationship status, or your circumstances? What if it begins with you? In this episode, I’m joined by fellow coach Bob Smith, creator of Become the Captain, for a conversation about the power of working on yourself and becoming the person you want to be, regardless of what someone else chooses. Whether you’re struggling in your marriage, considering divorce, separated, divorced, or navigating a new chapter of life, there is still so much within your power to change. Bob and I share success stories from men and women we’ve worked with and talk about personal responsibility, people-pleasing, boundaries, emotional health, faith, communication, and what can happen in our relationships when we begin showing up differently. We also dive into some of the harder relationship issues, including sexless marriages and how couples can begin rebuilding trust, intimacy, connection, and passion. This fall, Bob will lead men through his 12-week Become the Captain program, while I’ll lead women through my 12-week program, The Joyful Covenant Woman, designed to help women reclaim joy, peace, and confidence in their lives and relationships. 237. Divorce Brain: Why You Feel Stuck and How God Can Help You Heal
2026/08/10
Have you ever wondered why you can't think clearly after divorce? Why simple decisions suddenly feel overwhelming. Why you're constantly exhausted. Why you replay conversations in your mind, obsess over what happened, or find yourself checking your ex's social media even though you know it only makes things worse. If you've ever thought, "What is wrong with me?" this episode is for you. The truth is, there may be a lot less wrong with you than you think. In this episode, we'll talk about what divorce actually does to your brain in simple, practical terms. No complicated neuroscience. No therapy jargon. Just an understanding of why you're experiencing these common reactions and, more importantly, how faith in Jesus Christ can help you move through them. You'll learn: • Why making decisions feels so difficult after divorce • Why you're mentally and emotionally exhausted • Why you replay conversations over and over • Why you become obsessed with finding answers • Why it's so hard to stop checking your ex's social media • Why you may feel emotionally numb • How understanding your brain can help you stop judging yourself • Why your brain influences your healing but doesn't define your future God understands both your heart and your mind. While your brain may naturally respond to loss by trying to protect you, the Lord is helping you heal, grow, and become stronger through this experience. No matter where you are in your healing journey, remember this: you are not broken, you are not crazy, and with God's help, you can overcome this. I'd love to hear from you! 236. How Attachment Styles Affect Healing After Divorce
2026/08/03
Attachment Styles After Divorce: They Explain You, But They Don't Define You Have you ever wondered why you react the way you do in relationships? Maybe you find yourself fearing abandonment, pulling away when things get difficult, or feeling stuck in the same unhealthy patterns over and over again. In this episode, Jenn explores attachment styles through the lens of healing after divorce. Rather than focusing on labels, she shares a hope-filled perspective: attachment styles are simply patterns of behavior, not your identity. You'll learn: What the four attachment styles are in simple, practical terms How these patterns often show up in marriage and after divorce Why trauma can temporarily change the way you relate to others How recognizing your patterns can help you grow instead of keeping you stuck Why your past doesn't determine your future How Jesus Christ can heal your heart and help you create new patterns moving forward Whether you identify with an anxious, avoidant, fearful, or secure attachment style, this episode will remind you that your story isn't over. God can transform hearts, strengthen relationships, and help you become the person He created you to be. 232. Healing Begins When Self-Judgment Ends After Divorce
2026/07/06
Have you forgiven everyone... except yourself? After divorce, many faithful Christian and LDS men and women find themselves trapped in a cycle of self-judgment. You replay conversations. You second-guess your decisions. You wonder if you failed your family, your marriage, or even God. It feels like accountability, but what if it's actually keeping you from the healing Christ wants for you? In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, Jenn explores the difference between healthy repentance and unhealthy self-condemnation. You'll discover why shame is never God's plan for your life, how self-judgment quietly steals your peace, and what it really means to accept the Savior's grace. If you've ever thought, I should have known better, I ruined everything, or I'll never get it right, this episode is for you. You'll learn: Why self-judgment keeps you stuck after divorce The difference between accountability and condemnation How to recognize whether your thoughts are coming from God or from shame A simple prayer and practical exercise to help you release guilt How Romans 8:1 can transform the way you see yourself No matter what you've been through, your divorce is not your identity. Your mistakes are not your identity. You are a beloved son or daughter of God, and because of Jesus Christ, healing, peace, and joy are still possible. Scripture Highlight: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1 If this episode encouraged you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who may need this message today. 231. The Truth About Healthy Families After Divorce with Heather Johnson
2026/06/29
Divorce can leave you wondering if your family will ever feel whole again. Many parents worry about the impact on their children, struggle with feelings of failure, and question whether healthy relationships are still possible after everything they've been through. In this episode of Find the Joy with Jenn, I sit down with marriage and relationship coach Heather Johnson to talk about what it really takes to build strong families, navigate forgiveness, and create healthy relationships after divorce. Heather brings years of experience teaching family and relationship principles, along with insights from her work helping couples and families strengthen communication, deepen connection, and find joy in their relationships. Together, we discuss: • Whether a family can still thrive after divorce • How to help children heal and feel secure • The difference between forgiveness and reconciliation • Healthy boundaries with an ex-spouse • Common challenges in blended families • How faith can support healing instead of adding guilt and shame • What strong families do differently Whether you're newly separated, navigating co-parenting, rebuilding after divorce, or creating a blended family, this conversation offers practical wisdom, hope, and encouragement for the road ahead. If you're looking for support in your own divorce journey, I'd love to help.
