I am so excited you’re here! This podcast is your go-to for all things career growth! You’ll learn productivity systems to help you get organized, plan ahead, and accomplish your work efficiently. You’ll increase your ability to anticipate problems at work and inside your team before they occur and increase your confidence to lead through them. Goodbye burnout, hello confident, proactive leadership!
Hey, I’m Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt, MPH, MLS(ASCP)SBB…but you can call me KFA! I’ve got 13+ years of professional healthcare leadership experience, and I have 9+ years of management experience. I’m a mama of 3 littles, wife and best friend to my hubby who is also in healthcare, and coffee and planner obsessed.
When I first stepped into my first professional leadership role, I was promoted quickly! At the time, I was a new mama and had way less experience than those I was leading. I knew I needed to learn and grow in order to succeed in my role.
I lacked work-life balance and had no boundaries. I experienced burnout quickly by trying to people please and do everything myself. I worked long hours and my relationships suffered as a result.
I finally realized that I needed simple, effective strategies to help me get organized and manage my competing priorities.
I created my own daily management tool which helped me get organized, manage stress, achieve work-life integration. I quickly became the go-to leader for innovative healthcare leadership, and I was promoted again!
If you are ready to implement sustainable systems and strategies to help you get organized, ditch the burnout, and finally get the recognition you deserve, grab your coffee or bubbly and press play on my show while you rock your spreadsheets! It’s time to dive in!

Grounded Leadership Systems: Why Getting Organized at Work Is Like The Home Edit
2026/02/02
What if getting organized at work felt more like The Home Edit — and less like hustle, urgency, and mental overload?
In this episode of Get Organized at Work, I’m introducing the concept of Grounded Leadership Systems and sharing why the way we organize our work has everything to do with how we lead, decide, and protect our energy.
Using familiar metaphors from The Home Edit, I walk through how practical tools like Kanban boards, OneNote hubs, and visual leadership systems can function like an organized pantry, a color-coded closet, or perfectly sized storage bins — systems that support you instead of demanding more from you.
We talk about:
What grounded leadership actually means (and what it doesn’t)
Why overwhelmed leaders don’t need more discipline — they need better systems
How Kanban boards work like the “rainbow method” for organizing projects
Why a OneNote hub is the pantry your leadership life needs
How grounded systems reduce decision fatigue, urgency, and burnout
What “The Home Edit for Work” looks like in real leadership life
I also share how this idea ties into our Get Organized at Work community, where I’m hosting my Leading Through Challenging Times webinar and supporting leaders with tools, systems, and practical workflows that make work feel lighter.
If you’re a healthcare leader, manager, or working professional who wants to get organized at work without feeling rigid, overwhelmed, or behind — this episode is for you.

Stewardship at Scale: Time, Energy, Systems — and Leading Together in Uncertain Times
2026/01/26
Stewardship at Scale: Time, Energy, Systems — and Leading Together in Uncertain Times
Leadership doesn’t scale through hustle — it scales through stewardship.
In this episode of the Get Organized at Work podcast, Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt explores what stewardship at scale really means for modern leaders navigating uncertainty, pressure, and complexity. This conversation moves beyond personal productivity and into collective leadership, showing how organized leaders build systems, communities, and structures that create stability — not burnout.
You’ll learn:
Why leadership at scale is about environment design, not over-functioning
How to steward time, energy, and systems without exhausting yourself
The difference between personal leadership and collective leadership
Why structure matters more than speed in uncertain times
How community becomes a leadership system, not just a support space
What it means to lead with presence, clarity, and calm instead of urgency
This episode also introduces a new leadership rhythm inside the Get Organized at Work community:
Monthly Community Leadership Meetups — a space for connection, Q&A, and support focused on leading in uncertain times, collective problem-solving, and sustainable leadership.
Leadership isn’t about doing more.
It’s about stewarding better.
And we don’t scale leadership alone — we scale it together.
🎧 Listen now and reflect:
Where in your leadership do you need more structure — not more effort?

Proactive vs Reactive Leadership: How Organized Leaders Choose Better (Without Overplanning)
2026/01/19
Proactive vs Reactive Leadership: How Organized Leaders Choose Better (Without Overplanning)
What’s the real difference between proactive and reactive leadership — and why does staying proactive feel so hard once work gets busy?
In this episode of Get Organized at Work, we build on last week’s conversation about decision fatigue and explore how organized leaders move from constantly reacting to intentionally choosing what matters most. We talk about proactive vs reactive leadership in real life, how to plan without overplanning, why motivation fades when everything feels urgent, and what it actually means to be strategic at work.
You’ll also hear how simple systems — like a calm OneNote hub — can reduce mental load and help leaders think ahead without burning out.
If you’re a leader, healthcare professional, or business owner who wants practical systems and realistic leadership advice, this episode is for you.

Systems That Reduce Decision Fatigue: How Organized Leaders Protect Their Energy
Decision fatigue is one of the biggest — and most overlooked — challenges leaders face today.
In this episode of Get Organized at Work, we explore systems that reduce decision fatigue and why organized leaders don’t rely on willpower to stay productive — they design systems that protect their time, attention, and energy.
Building on last week’s conversation about stewardship as a leadership skill, this episode breaks down how intentional leadership systems help reduce unnecessary decisions, prevent burnout, and support consistent, proactive leadership.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
what decision fatigue is and why leaders experience it so quickly
how stewardship helps protect clarity and focus
the types of daily decisions that drain leaders the most
practical systems that reduce mental load and cognitive overwhelm
how organized leaders stay strategic without working longer hours
This episode is especially helpful for:
leaders, managers, project managers, executive assistants, healthcare professionals, and anyone juggling multiple roles who wants systems that actually work in real life.
If you’re feeling mentally tired, reactive, or overwhelmed at work, this episode will help you rethink how your systems support — or drain — your leadership energy.
