Your Thyroid Isn't Failing You- It's Protecting You with Amie Hornaman
2026/10/06
Are you exhausted, gaining weight no matter what you eat, and starting to wonder if your fatigue, brain fog, and low energy are "just perimenopause"? Millions of women are walking around with undiagnosed thyroid problems, and the one thyroid test your doctor runs can miss it completely. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Amie, thyroid expert and author of The Thyroid Fix, to talk about why so many women are told their labs are "normal" while they feel anything but.
Your thyroid is the master gland that runs your metabolism from head to toe, and when your hormones start shifting after 40, it takes the hit too. If you are on hormone therapy and still tired and stuck with weight loss resistance, this conversation is going to make a lot of things click. We get into the testing you actually need, why so many women cannot convert thyroid hormone into the form your cells can use, how chronic stress and cortisol quietly shut your thyroid down, and the forgotten thyroid hormone Dr. Amie believes could change how we think about metabolism.
What we cover in this episode
The one thyroid test your doctor almost always runs, why it is not even a thyroid hormone, and the labs Dr. Amie says you need instead.
The hidden conversion problem behind stubborn weight, fatigue, and brain fog, and the everyday factors, from blood sugar to low progesterone, that make it worse.
Why women over 40 get hit with what Dr. Amie calls "Thyropause," and how it hides behind perimenopause symptoms.
The "forgotten" thyroid hormone Dr. Amie has spent two decades studying. Listen for the shifts you can start today.

Overwhelmed by Doing Everything Right? Do THIS Instead: The Midlife Reset That Actually Works
2026/09/22
Overwhelmed by Doing Everything Right? The Midlife Reset That Actually Works
Fatigue in midlife can feel so frustrating when you're already doing everything "right."
Are you taking the supplements, tracking your sleep, eating more protein, trying to balance your hormones, exercising, watching your blood sugar, and still feeling exhausted, bloated, anxious, or stuck with weight loss resistance?
In this episode, I'm talking about why doing more is not always the answer, especially during perimenopause and menopause. Sometimes the routines we start for hormone balance, gut health, metabolism, brain fog, and energy can quietly become another source of stress.
And when your body is under chronic stress, it starts prioritizing survival over digestion, thyroid health, blood sugar balance, sleep, and healthy hormone production. That can show up as low energy, bloating, IBS symptoms, brain fog, inflammation, stubborn weight gain, and that feeling of being completely depleted even though you're trying so hard.
This episode is about the midlife reset your body may actually need: less tracking, less pressure, less over-optimizing, and a return to the foundations that support your nervous system, metabolism, gut health, and hormones.
What You'll Hear in This Episode
• Why fatigue, brain fog, and weight loss resistance can get worse when your wellness routine becomes another stressor.
• The connection between perimenopause, cortisol, progesterone, and why your nervous system may not handle the same routines it used to.
• How over-tracking food, sleep, steps, and workouts can affect hormone balance, digestion, gut health, and stress.
• Why simplifying your routine may support metabolism, blood sugar balance, sleep, digestive health, and energy better than adding another supplement or biohack.
• The foundational five I want you to focus on for midlife hormone balance, inflammation, gut-brain connection, and resilience.
If you're doing everything "right" but still feel exhausted, this episode will help you understand why more effort isn't always the answer—and why simplifying your approach may be the key to better energy, hormone balance, and overall health.

The Shocking Link Between Relationship Stress & Your Gut Health (& How to Fix It)
2026/09/08
If you've been chasing better gut health for months and still wake up bloated, foggy, and exhausted, I want you to consider a question I rarely hear anyone ask out loud. What if it isn't what you're eating? What if it's who you're eating with?
This week, I'm taking you somewhere where most conversations about gut health, hormone balance, and chronic fatigue skip over. Because you can clean up your diet, take every supplement, work on perimenopause symptoms, and still feel stuck. The missing piece might be the person whose name lights up your phone and makes your chest tighten before you even read the message.
I'm walking you through the actual science of how a difficult relationship reshapes your digestive health, your microbiome, and your inflammation levels. We're talking vagus nerve, cortisol, leaky gut, IBS, and why so many women dealing with weight loss resistance and brain fog never make the connection.
What You'll Discover in This Episode:
The hidden reason your digestive health crashes around certain people, even when your diet is dialed in
Why chronic stress in a relationship can drive leaky gut, IBS, bloating, and weight loss resistance no matter how clean you eat
A thirty-second pre-meal practice that helps regulate your nervous system, support hormone balance, and let your body actually absorb what you're eating
A new way to think about boundaries that has nothing to do with self-care and everything to do with gut health and energy
Your symptoms are real. The fatigue, brain fog, bloating, and stalled progress through perimenopause are not in your head. They are signals from a nervous system that has been on high alert for too long, and your gut is paying the price. Once you understand the cortisol-gut-microbiome loop, your whole approach to healing your digestive health, metabolism, and hormone balance shifts.
You do not have to wait for anyone else to change before your body starts to come back online. Press play and let me show you where to start.

The Shocking Link Between What You Eat, Your Anxiety & Trauma with Luis Mojica
2026/08/25
If you've been chasing hormone balance for months and still feel exhausted, bloated, and stuck with weight that won't budge no matter what you eat, there's a piece of this puzzle almost nobody's talking about: what's actually happening in your nervous system every time you sit down to a meal. You've probably heard that stress affects your gut health. But have you ever considered that the exact foods you're eating might be creating the stress in the first place — triggering the same fight-or-flight response as a car accident?
That's exactly what I dig into with Luis Mojica, a somatic educator, certified holistic nutritionist, and bestselling author of Food Therapy: Conscious Eating to Navigate Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma. Luis has spent years working at the intersection of trauma, nervous system regulation, and eating — and this conversation completely reframes how I think about brain fog, low energy, and the binge-and-shame cycle so many women in perimenopause know all too well.
In this episode:
The "seesaw" pattern almost everyone runs on without realizing it — why your morning stimulants might be setting your cortisol and blood sugar up to crash by dinnertime, and why that crash so often ends at the pantry. Why some genuinely healthy foods can trigger the same adrenal stress response as overworking or a car accident — and what that means for anyone dealing with digestive issues, bloating, or IBS that diets alone haven't fixed. The real difference between nutritional hunger and emotional hunger, and the simple somatic check-in Luis uses to tell them apart before a craving turns into a binge. Why what you've been calling "self-sabotage" might actually be your body's overwhelm response — and what that reframe means for anyone stuck in chronic stress and exhaustion. If you've ever felt like your metabolism, your energy, and your relationship with food are all working against you at once, this conversation connects dots that most gut health and hormone balance content leaves out entirely. Stress isn't just something that happens to you around food — it's something certain foods and eating patterns can actually create, and that distinction changes everything about where you start. Press play, and you'll walk away with a completely different lens on your cravings, your fatigue, and why the fix has never been about trying harder.

The Perimenopause Wake-Up Call: How to Know You're in Health Debt and the 5 Steps to Get Out with Bria Gadd
2026/08/11
Is your fatigue the kind sleep doesn't touch, the kind that shows up right alongside stubborn weight loss resistance, bloating, and brain fog you can't explain? If you're doing everything right and your body still feels like it's working against you, this one is going to land.
I sat down with Bria Gadd, the Period Whisperer, to talk about something I see constantly in my practice and almost never hear discussed online. Most women in perimenopause are not dealing with an ovary problem. They're carrying what Bria calls health debt, and it shows up as low energy, digestive issues, night sweats, and a metabolism that suddenly stopped cooperating.
Her own wake-up call came at 37. Fifteen pounds gained without changing a thing. Gut issues and skin problems she'd never had. Then labs that came back completely normal. Fitness and nutrition were her career, so she knew calories and muscle. What she didn't know was how chronic stress, cortisol, gut health, and the adrenal and thyroid connection quietly drain the tank long before your sex hormones ever get the memo.
We get into why hormone balance in midlife is rarely a hormone problem first, why so many women start DIM or hormone replacement without knowing their actual estrogen levels, and why pushing harder when you're already depleted is like putting groceries on a credit card you can't pay off.
What You'll Discover Inside Why roughly 80% of Bria's clients under 47 don't have an ovarian issue at all, and the four systems she checks before she ever looks at estrogen or progesterone
The reason her clients release weight in the first month after eating more and training less
Four everyday signals that tell you whether your body has the capacity to build muscle and burn fat right now, or whether you're borrowing energy you don't have
The most underrated energy source in midlife, and it isn't sleep, protein, or magnesium
Her five steps for getting out of health debt, including the one everyone wants to start with that has to come last
Why This Episode Matters Perimenopause has become the label for every symptom, and that's part of the problem, because cortisol, thyroid, gut health, blood sugar, and inflammation all shape how this transition actually feels. Your fatigue, bloating, brain fog, and stubborn weight are whispers before they become screams, so press play, then pick one thing and start where you are.

How to Tell If You Have a Pelvic Floor Problem (And Exactly What to Do About It)
2026/07/28
How to Tell If You Have a Pelvic Floor Problem Fatigue, hormone balance, perimenopause, menopause, gut health, constipation, stress, and pelvic floor symptoms can all connect in ways many women never realize.
Have you ever leaked when you laughed, coughed, sneezed, jumped, or worked out? Or felt pelvic heaviness, pressure, painful sex, constipation, or low back pain that no one can explain? These symptoms are common, but they are not something you have to live with.
In this episode, I'm talking about how to recognize pelvic floor dysfunction, why it often shows up or gets worse during perimenopause and menopause, and why kegels are not always the answer. Your pelvic floor needs to be strong, flexible, and able to relax — and if it is too tight, more kegels can actually make things worse.
I'll also explain how pregnancy, childbirth, estrogen decline, constipation, chronic stress, shallow breathing, and years of downward pressure can all affect pelvic floor health over time.
Key Points From This Episode • The five signs of a pelvic floor problem — leaking, pressure, painful sex, constipation, and unexplained hip or low back pain.
• Why perimenopause and menopause can make pelvic floor symptoms show up years after having children.
• The surprising reason kegels may make symptoms worse if your pelvic floor is too tight.
• How breathing, stress, constipation, and hormone balance all play a role.
• Why pelvic floor physical therapy can be one of the most helpful, underused tools for women.
The Bigger Takeaway Pelvic floor symptoms are not just an inconvenience. They can affect your bladder, bowels, sex life, exercise, confidence, digestion, and quality of life.
If you've been leaking, avoiding workouts, crossing your legs when you sneeze, or wondering why things feel different in perimenopause or menopause, this episode will help you understand what may really be going on — and why there are real solutions.
Hit play and listen in, because your pelvic floor may be the missing piece in your hormone balance, gut health, stress, and long-term wellness.

The Most Missed Food on Your Plate: How Blue & Purple Foods Protect Your Brain
2026/07/14
Brain fog, fatigue, and low energy can feel frustrating when you're already eating healthy. But what if your brain isn't asking for another supplement — what if it's asking for a missing color on your plate?
In this episode, I'm talking about blue and purple foods and why they may be one of the most overlooked ways to support brain health, hormone balance, metabolism, and long-term memory.
These foods contain anthocyanins, powerful plant compounds that help protect the brain from oxidative stress and support cognitive function. And for women in perimenopause and menopause, this matters even more because estrogen naturally helps protect the brain — and as estrogen changes, your brain needs extra support.
What You'll Learn • Why brain fog can happen even when you eat healthy.
• The color category most people are missing.
• How blue and purple foods support memory, inflammation, and brain health.
• Why this matters more during perimenopause and menopause.
• The simple foods you can start adding this week.
If you're dealing with fatigue, brain fog, hormone imbalance, digestive issues, IBS symptoms, weight loss resistance, or low energy, this episode will help you see how one simple daily shift can support your focus, energy, and future brain health.

The Exhaustion That Sleep Can't Fix: What's Really Happening to High-Achieving Women with Dr. Nikia Smith
2026/06/30
Fatigue can feel confusing when you're getting sleep but still waking up tired, irritable, foggy, or emotionally drained. If you're a high-achieving woman juggling work, family, stress, hormones, gut health, and the mental load of "doing it all," this episode will help you understand why your exhaustion may be about more than sleep.
In this conversation, I'm joined by Dr. Nikia Smith, a board-certified anesthesiologist who has experienced burnout twice. We talk about the slow build of burnout, why so many women miss the early signs, and how chronic stress can impact energy, hormone balance, metabolism, digestion, brain fog, and weight loss resistance.
In this episode, you'll hear:
• Why fatigue that sleep doesn't fix may be a sign of emotional and nervous system overload.
• The early "simmering pot" signs of burnout high-achieving women often ignore.
• How irritability, decision fatigue, and autopilot living can signal deeper exhaustion.
• Why self-care alone is not enough without boundaries, values, and support.
• How learning to say no and delegate can help protect your energy and health.
This episode is for the woman who looks like she has it all together but feels depleted behind the scenes. If you've been blaming yourself for low energy, brain fog, stress, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalance, this conversation will help you see your fatigue differently — and understand what your body may be trying to tell you.

6 Things to Do Before 9 AM to Balance Your Hormones in Midlife
2026/06/16
Coffee First Thing, Fasted Workouts, and Why Your Morning Routine Is Wrecking Your Hormones in Midlife
Morning fatigue isn't just about bad sleep — the first hour of your day shapes your hormone balance, metabolism, brain fog, and energy.
Have you ever done everything "right" — fasted workout, coffee on an empty stomach, fasting until noon — and still felt more exhausted and anxious than ever? In this solo episode, I break down why those wellness habits are cortisol-wrecking chaos for a midlife woman. They were built for a twenty-five-year-old man's body, not yours. I'll walk you through six science-backed things to do before 9 AM that actually match your physiology, plus a twenty-minute version for busy mornings.
Key Points
The one simple swap that changes how women feel more than almost anything I recommend — and why order matters more than the habit.
Why that "I can't function without coffee" feeling isn't an addiction — it's a hormonal clue most women miss.
The reason your thyroid labs keep coming back "normal" while you still have every symptom of an underactive thyroid.
How one client lost weight and got her energy back with six small morning swaps.
We connect the dots between cortisol, the HPA axis, blood sugar, thyroid function, and metabolism — so you can finally understand why the "healthy" things you're doing might be working against you.
Stop wasting time (and money) on products that don't work. My Trusted Brands Guide is the exact list I share with my private clients — the skincare, supplements, food, and wellness tools that have been tested and proven to deliver results. No fluff. No guesswork. Just the brands you can finally feel good about using.

Fatigue after travel isn't just about being tired — it can affect your gut health, hormone balance, metabolism, brain fog, and energy.
Have you ever come home from a trip feeling bloated, constipated, foggy, run down, or completely exhausted? In this episode, I'm talking with Dr. Monisha Bhanote about what really happens inside the body when we travel — and why symptoms like low energy, digestive issues, stress, bloating, and sluggish recovery are not random.
Dr. Bhanote brings a unique perspective to cellular health because she has spent years studying cells, tissues, and disease patterns under the microscope. We talk about how travel can impact digestion, immunity, focus, mitochondrial energy, and recovery — and why your gut can even experience its own version of jet lag.
If you struggle with fatigue, brain fog, IBS, bloating, constipation, weight loss resistance, perimenopause symptoms, or feeling "off" after travel, this episode will help you understand what your body may be trying to tell you.
Key Points
• Why travel can disrupt your gut microbiome and trigger bloating, constipation, and digestive issues.
• How airplane travel may affect brain fog, focus, and energy.
• Why cortisol, dehydration, caffeine, alcohol, and poor sleep can drain your metabolism.
• What cellular health has to do with feeling better and recovering faster.
Listen In
This conversation will help you see travel fatigue in a whole new way. Inside the episode, we connect the dots between gut health, stress, inflammation, hormones, detoxification, and cellular energy — so you can better understand why your body feels different when your routine changes.

The Truth About Cortisol Face: 5 Things TikTok Got Wrong (And 1 Thing They Got Right)
2026/05/19
Fatigue, hormone balance, and gut health can all affect how your body looks and feels — but is "cortisol face" really the answer?
If your face looks puffier, heavier, or different than it used to, TikTok may have convinced you cortisol is the problem. But the truth is more layered.
In this episode, I'm breaking down what TikTok gets wrong about cortisol face, why one supplement or ice roller usually isn't enough, and how perimenopause, low progesterone, chronic stress, poor sleep, blood sugar, inflammation, and metabolism may all be part of the bigger picture.
Key Points
Why "cortisol face" is not a true diagnosis
How hormone shifts can contribute to fluid retention and puffiness
The one thing TikTok actually got right about your face
Takeaway
Your face is not betraying you — it may be communicating with you.
If you're dealing with exhaustion, bloating, digestive issues, brain fog, hormone imbalance, or low energy in perimenopause or menopause, this episode will help you understand what your body may actually be asking for.

Why You Feel Like Your Body Is on Fire: A PhD Expert on Inflammation, Brain Fog, and Fatigue
2026/05/12
Inflammation, Fatigue, and Hormone Imbalance: Why You Still Feel Exhausted (Even When You're Doing Everything Right)
Fatigue, inflammation, and hormone imbalance—have you ever felt like you're doing everything right, but your body still isn't responding? You're eating clean, prioritizing gut health, trying to balance your hormones… yet the brain fog, low energy, weight loss resistance, and bloating are still there.
If you've ever thought, "Is this just aging… or is something deeper going on?"—this episode is going to shift how you see your symptoms.
Because what if the real issue isn't a lack of effort… but hidden inflammation driving everything from digestive issues and IBS to metabolism slowdowns, hormone imbalance, and chronic exhaustion?
Inside this conversation, we unpack how inflammation connects to perimenopause, gut health, and energy—and why so many women feel stuck despite doing all the "right" things
What You'll Discover in This Episode: • The hidden form of inflammation that could be driving your fatigue, brain fog, and hormone imbalance
• Why your gut health and microbiome may be the missing link behind weight loss resistance and bloating

• The surprising reason your metabolism slows during perimenopause—and what inflammation has to do with it
Inflammation is at the root of so many symptoms women experience—fatigue, hormone imbalance, digestive issues, brain fog, and weight loss resistance—but most approaches miss the bigger picture.
When you understand how inflammation impacts your gut health, metabolism, and hormones—especially during perimenopause—you can start connecting the dots in a completely different way. The Longevity Circus: 5 Overhyped Health Trends That Are Wasting Your Time (And What Actually Works)
2026/05/05
If you're dealing with fatigue, weight loss resistance, brain fog, low energy, gut health issues, or feeling "off" hormonally, this episode is for you. Everywhere you turn, someone is selling you a new anti-aging hack—IV drips at the gym, $50,000 longevity clinics, genetic panels, peptides, stacks of supplements. But are any of these actually proven in humans to extend your health span… or are they just very expensive hope?
In this episode, I get honest about what the research really says about longevity, metabolism, hormone balance, and digestive health—and where the hype is way ahead of the science.
Key Points from This Episode
Why the modern longevity industry worries me
Health span vs. lifespan: the question we should be asking
The unsexy things that genuinely move the needle
Why it's never too late to start
This episode gives you the "what" and the "why" behind real, evidence-based longevity so you can stop chasing every new "anti-aging" protocol and start focusing on the habits that actually support your hormones, energy, metabolism, and digestive health long term. Hit play and let's cut through the noise together.

You're Not Weak. How Your Gut Bacteria Are Controlling Your Cravings
2026/04/28
Low energy, bloating, and stubborn cravings—why does it feel like your body is constantly pulling you in the opposite direction of your goals? If you've ever found yourself eating when you're not even hungry, struggling with afternoon energy crashes, or feeling like your metabolism just isn't responding the way it used to, this episode is going to reframe everything for you.
I'm walking you through the real reason cravings happen—and why this has nothing to do with discipline. Because what most women don't realize is this: your gut health, microbiome, stress levels, and hormone balance are all working together behind the scenes, quietly influencing your metabolism, your hunger signals, and even your decision-making.
If you're in perimenopause or menopause, struggling with IBS, digestive issues, or chronic fatigue, this becomes even more important. Your gut-brain connection, cortisol levels, and blood sugar balance can create a perfect storm that leads to intense cravings, energy crashes, and frustration with your body.
Inside this episode, I connect the dots between stress, the microbiome, neurotransmitters, and cravings—so you can finally understand what's actually driving your behavior (and why it's not your fault).
Key Points You'll Discover: • The hidden gut health imbalance that may be driving your sugar cravings—even when you're not hungry
• A surprising connection between stress, cortisol, and your brain's decision-making center that weakens willpower
• How blood sugar crashes quietly fuel weight loss resistance, fatigue, and late-night eating patterns
• The microbiome-driven signals influencing your metabolism, hormones, and energy levels
If you've been stuck in cycles of cravings, exhaustion, brain fog, or digestive issues, this episode gives you a completely new lens to understand what's happening inside your body.
When you start to see cravings as a biological signal—not a personal failure—you open the door to real change. Because this isn't about trying harder… it's about working with your gut health, stabilizing your metabolism, and supporting your hormone balance in a way that actually makes your body respond.
And once that internal signaling shifts? The cravings don't need to be controlled—they simply start to quiet down.

The Hidden Connection Between Your Gut, Your Bones, and Hormones
2026/04/21
The Gut-Hormone Connection No One's Talking About in Perimenopause
If your gut health has gone completely sideways since your late 30s or 40s — bloating, new food sensitivities, constipation — what if the real problem isn't what you're eating? As estrogen drops during perimenopause, your microbiome actually changes. Inflammation goes up, detoxification slows down, and suddenly you're dealing with brain fog, weight loss resistance, fatigue, and digestive issues that seem to come out of nowhere. Today I sat down with Cynthia Thurlow, NP and author of The Menopause Gut, and we connected some major dots.
What we get into:
Why your microbiome looks completely different after 40 — and how that's driving your bloating, low energy, and inflammation The estrogen recycling loop most practitioners aren't testing for that could be behind your hormone imbalance and stubborn weight Why not tolerating fiber is actually a red flag — not a reason to avoid it A surprising gut-bone connection that changes how we think about aging in menopause If you've been chasing hormone balance without looking at your gut, this episode is going to shift your entire perspective. Hit play.
