The Odyssey Review (For Christians To Consider)
2026/09/08
I just finished watching Christopher Nolan's version of the Odyssey. There are 7 main lessons I took from it, specifically as it relates to men, fatherhood, family, and Christ - the areas we tend to work most deeply in. The last 3 I think are most impactful, but they're all worth considering. Don't let this just be a movie to entertain you. Let it improve your life by taking away the right lessons. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 7 Biggest Lessons From The Odyssey 0:21 Lesson 1: Morality 4:15 Lesson 2: War 6:58 Lesson 3: Cost 8:48 Lesson 4: Afterlife 11:05 Lesson 5: Competence 12:38 Lesson 6: Imposters 15:50 Lesson 7: A Son's Life Resources Mentioned: 🎁 FREE COURSE: 5 Days To Transform Your Family: https://familyteams.com/transform --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." The Ultimate Guide To Restoring The Biblical Family As God Intended: Full Blueprint
2026/07/28
Modern family is broken. Very few men truly get excited about fatherhood and family in the same way they do about business or even sports. Why? Frankly, it's because even as Christians, we've bought the secular lie that the family is a "nest". It exists to self-destruct in 18 years. That doesn't motivate a dad, no matter how much he loves each individual in his family. So is family broken? Did God design something poorly? Or is our new, modern experiment with family the problem? Well, God's a perfect designer, so it's not the first one. In this presentation given to 12 Tribes in Columbus, Jeremy lays out the case for getting back to a Biblical vision for family - the multigenerational team on mission. From what's broken, to what the Bible actually says about family, to how you can build that type of family starting this week, this is the blueprint, masterclass, step-by-step reality laid out clearly in Scripture for how to stop living a secular lie and build a family that lasts. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 What is 12 Tribes? 12:40 Jeremy's multigenerational land acknowledgement 15:00 Our multi-generational family obsession origin story 20:00 The connection between family, business, and Kingdom 29:41 The western family is in crisis 44:07 The 2 ways of seeing family 54:28 Fertility crisis 57:14 1st Century vs. 21st Century kid dialogue 1:02:57 The definition of modern and Biblical family 1:05:05 The 5 Part Formula: Multigenerational Team on Mission 1:21:06 Tools to become a Multigenerational Family Team 1:30:11 How to start a family business that includes different personalities 1:35:26 How to know if you're an Abraham or an Isaac generation? 1:38:58 How to take this back to your wife gracefully 1:43:16 How to collaborate with your wife as a team Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Why Christians Must Care About Work and Legacy ft. David Bahnsen
2026/06/30
There's a lie that's been sapping the church of purpose over the past hundred or so years. That lie is rooted in individualism, and honestly, a strange view of materialism. We've exchanged covenantal theology with individual theology, and God's hand over all creation for dualism. As such, we've lost the sacredness of work, which causes so much stress, confusion, and chaos in people's lives, and we've neglected a multi-generational, biblical view of family for a short-term, cultural view. My guest today, David Bahnsen, runs a $10 Billion wealth management firm, and writes widely about the issues we discuss today. He's seen a lot when it comes to multi-generational legacies, and has thought a lot about the theology of work, even writing a book on the subject. Dive in for a succinct conversation on the importance of work and family legacy. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 0:34 The Theological Breakdown of Work 5:54 Multigenerational Legacy 8:05 Why Is The Christian Family Not Interested in Multi-Generational Family Legacy? 11:37 Legacy Lessons From High Net Worth Families 13:41 Preserving A Financial Legacy Resources Mentioned: Full-Time: Work and the Meaning of Life by David Bahnsen: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVRGZRXD/ The Bahnsen Group: https://thebahnsengroup.com/ --- FREE COURSE: 5 Days To Transform Your Family Into A Team: https://familyteams.com/transform --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." How To Not Ruin Your Kids If You're The First Generation To Find Success (in Finances, Faith, etc.)
2026/06/16
Are you the first generation to do something in your family? Follow the Lord? Be financially successful? Break the cycle of addiction? This puts you in a uniquely difficult situation as a parent. Your experience growing up will be EXTREMELY different than the one your kids grow up in. The change you've made will impact them. This is a critical time...there's a saying that goes, "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in 3 generations". In other words, someone gets success, they don't pass it on well to their kids, and the kids ruin it all by the time they have kids so the grandkids end up back where the grandparents started. In this episode, I'll break down what we can learn about Isaac navigating his father's wells in Genesis 26. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 How To Raise Kids Who Don't Squander Your Inheritance 1:37 Four Generations in Genesis 2:25 The Most Important Chapter In The Bible About This 6:38 What Do The Wells Mean? 7:55 How We Raised Good Gen 2 Kids Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Financially Successful Women And The Downfall Of The Family (Danica Patrick / Orion Teraban Response)
2026/06/02
This is a major part of the fertility crisis. Feminism has made women value independence above all else, and when it comes to getting married and having kids, it's no longer "logical" to get a husband if a woman is making money. In fact, the more money women make, the less likely it is that they'll have children...which is the complete opposite of men. It's almost like feminism was designed to destroy the family or something. Hm... Dive into this conversation with Danica Patrick and Orion Teraban and find out what feminism is doing to women who decide to value the marketplace over the home. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:03 When women accumulate money 3:28 The 2 Theories 7:31 Feminism Overriding Nature 8:49 Interdependence Over Independence Resources Mentioned: Danica Patrick and Orion Teraban Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X25vRBKNKD0 FREE COURSE: 5 Days To Transform Your Family Into A Team: https://familyteams.com/transform --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com --- Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Missionalism: An Alternative to Christian Violence
2026/04/28
The 2 main positions on violence in Christianity are Just War Theory and Pacifism. I don't like either of them. In fact, I think there's a third way that really gets to the core of who we are as Christians in a way that I believe is most biblically accurate and true to our identity as followers of Christ. I'm calling it Missionalism, and it has MUCH more to do with fulfilling Jesus' instructions to us as believers to disciple the nations than it does with justifying violence or retreating from society, as the 2 main positions would have us do. Please know that this is Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, not Family Teams or 1KH...which means I often tease out things I'm thinking about, working on, and haven't fully wrapped my head around. Because of that I'd love to get your feedback in the comment section, either on Youtube or on my Substack. Thanks! On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:21 Violence as a Christian 4:04 Just War Theory 6:19 Pacifism 7:59 A Parallel Government 11:44 Missionalism Resources Mentioned: The Patient Ferment of the Early Church by Alan Kreider: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0801048494 --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." What's Wrong With The Evangelical Church? ft. Aaron Renn
2026/03/24
I'm excited to be joined by Aaron Renn for today's discussion about the Evangelical Church, what it's getting wrong, why it lags in influence in major institutions, and what assumptions we're getting wrong that's leading to so much of the family destruction we're seeing today. If we want to see our children grow up in a vibrant faith that they don't leave (like so many people are leaving these days), we need to start getting to the bottom of what's going on in our churches. This is part of my deep dive into figuring out exactly what's going wrong, so that we can fix it. We need more people thinking about these things, so please join us for this discussion and weigh in...what is the key, primary issue underneath it all, and what's to be done? On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 2:51 What Christianity Gets Wrong Interacting With American Culture 10:11 Influential Evangelicalism 15:02 Theology of Family 28:29 Young Churches 34:27 Post-Familial Society 42:33 Masculinity as Fatherhood? 48:19 Individual vs Family Primacy Resources Mentioned: Aaron's Newsletter: https://www.aaronrenn.com/ --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Divorce, Swamp Hags, and The Soft Underbelly of Evangelicalism (The Pryor Family Reacts!)
2026/03/10
Sometimes the only way to process enormous issues is to get the family together and have a deep conversation. That's just what Jeremy, April, Kelsey, and Elisa did in this episode, tackling divorce and family expectations, the enormous cost of not taking swamp hag symbolism seriously, and the biggest problem in the evangelical movement. This conversation will put you on the path toward answering these societal questions yourself from a grounded, Biblical point of view, and help to shift some cultural assumptions that you may accidentally have taken for granted. THIS Is Fuel For The Valleys of Fatherhood with Jeff Zaugg of DadAwesome

I've been a guest on his podcast 4 times now, so I'm excited to welcome Jeff Zaugg of DadAwesome onto the podcast. He's got a book coming out in March, so make sure to check that out (link below!). I think you'll get a good sense of Jeff in this interview, particularly the way he brings so much positivity and joy and amazement to fatherhood. Build A Family That Lasts Forever with Johann Kurtz
2026/02/17
I'm joined today by Johann Kurtz, author of the amazing new book Leaving a Legacy. We discuss the idea of the Thousand Year Family, and talk about what modern American families can learn from aristocratic families that have lasted hundreds (or more) years. This is a deep episode that covers everything from foundational beliefs and mindset about family, wealth, theology, and legacy, to a defense of nepotism versus meritocracy (seriously), to lessons from families that last for centuries. We Accidentally Built A Degenerate Mating System That's Leading To Polygamy
2026/01/27
People are starting to wake up to this, and call it for what it truly is, but I still think they're hedging too much. They're not going all the way, because many people are ignorant of the freedom-obsessed sea in which they swim. This is a hugely important topic that will impact how our kids and grandkids grow up and experience life, and I want to call it out right now: We're moving into a period where there will be a cultural war between polygamy and monogamy as the Christian sexual ethic continues to be cast off in our society. In this episode I break down a recent article and share why this is so devastating and why Christians still have the best response, as long as we actually respond. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 3:00 Framing the debate 6:31 The most powerful incentive of all 8:43 Everyone hedges (and I wish they wouldn't) 11:03 The root of the problem 13:26 Polygamy vs. Monogamy Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor Resources Mentioned: Aaron Renn's Newsletter Article: https://substack.com/home/post/p-184845957 --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Why The Modern Corporation Might Be The "ANTI-FAMILY"
2025/12/23
Just as there are anti-christs who will come to take the place of Christ, I believe there could be anti-families that come to take the place of family. Now I'm not saying that corporations are antichrists. But I am saying that the analogy might hold. When we shifted the locus of economic activity from the family to this new entity called the corporation...what did that actually do to the family? I'd argue it did a lot. And if we want to have flourishing families that obey God's original mandate in Genesis 1:28, perhaps we need to start thinking about how we can build within our own multi-generational family instead of building another corporate entity. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:11 Are modern corporations The Anti-Family? 3:47 Why didn't God create corporations? 8:48 Corporations vs families Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor Resources Mentioned: Rory Groves Podcast Episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPPClJbq2fc Take Back Your Family by Jeff Bethke: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1400221765/ --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." The Intentional Age: Raise A Strong Family In Our Techno Dystopia
2025/12/04
The biggest distinction between people in the next generation will be between those who live by accident and those who live by intention. Specifically, it will be those people who grew up with parents who were intentional about technology, and kept it mostly away from their kids, and those who just "went with the flow" and passed on their screen/technology addiction. How do we buck the trend of "going with the flow", though? If only there were something about humans and how God made us that could protect our kids... Oh yeah, there is. It's called a patriarch. Join me in considering what's coming down the pipeline and how families can raise intentional kids. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:28 Wise cultures 3:48 How to avoid the vortex of the techno dystopia 9:44 A strong will and community 13:01 We MUST protect children 18:14 What to do now --- Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com   Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." How Doug Wilson SHOULD Have Answered Sam Harris' Attacks on Christianity
2025/11/19
Sam Harris recently had Doug Wilson on his podcast where he brought up 2 "kill shots" against Christianity. One is women's right to vote. The other is slavery. While I think Doug did a decent job explaining household voting as a reasonable and ideal alternative to our current voting system, he left a LOT to be desired in his defence of Biblical slavery. The first conversation is good, and something we've talked about here at Family Teams, so I hope you'll watch it and get a sense of why household voting could work. But the second one is very important. Not because it's culturally relevant today, necessarily, but because so many atheists and libertarians think that there's a glaring moral hole in the Bible as it relates to slavery. We MUST be able to defend how the Bible talks about slavery, and I give my version of what I think Doug should have said here. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 1:43 Doug Wilson responds to whether women should vote 13:16 Boomers and individualism 17:28 How to think about slavery as Christians 36:54 The only abolitionists were Christians Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor Resources Mentioned: Sam Harris & Doug Wilson Full Episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRQ6Tcw9maM JOIN THE FAMILY TEAMS ACCELERATOR: https://familyteams.com/accelerator --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered." Do Christian's Owe A Debt of Honor To Today's Jews?
2025/11/04
Jeremy's joined by Jeff, Ryan, and his daughter Kelsey to discuss whether the Bible encourages today's Christians to honor today's non-believing Jews. This is a hot topic, and I think the answer is yes, but I wanted to hash it out with people on both sides of this. This ended up being a thoughtful discussion ranging from Genesis to the New Testament, from honor to salvation. If you care about the Bible and God's plans for the world and for the Jews in particular, this is an important question to come up with an answer to. On this episode, we talk about: 0:00 Intro 2:49 Ryan's Initial Thoughts 5:56 Jeff's Initial Thoughts 8:52 Jeremy's Position 13:40 5 Examples Where The Bible May Describe a Debt of Honor Being Due 35:25 Definition, Gifts, Romans 48:28 Revoke or Rejected Covenant? 53:52 Why NOT To Be Arrogant 59:57 Parable of Tenants 1:09:53 Nuance of Honor 1:17:28 Abrahamic Covenant Subscribe on Substack ➡️ https://jeremypryor.substack.com Follow Jeremy on: Instagram: https://instagram.com/jeremympryor/ X: https://x.com/jeremympryor --- Welcome to Jeremy Pryor's Podcast, or what I like to call, "Jeremy Pryor Unfiltered."
