50. Love Responds to Energy: Why Overfunctioning Is Creating Disconnection ⛓️‍💥
2026/01/28
Are you a mom who does everything, holds it all together, and still feels disconnected from your partner? In this episode of The Heart AF Podcast, Chelsea VanBuskirk explores how energy—not effort—is often the missing link in modern marriages and long-term relationships. This episode dives into the emotional and energetic patterns many women fall into after years of caregiving, overfunctioning, and silently carrying the mental load. Chelsea breaks down how resentment, burnout, and disconnection don’t come from a lack of love—but from chronic self-abandonment and unmet needs. You’ll learn why love doesn’t respond to demands, control, or quiet bitterness—but instead to clarity, softness, emotional safety, and aligned boundaries. Chelsea explains how overgiving and doing it all can unintentionally teach your partner to step back, and how shifting your energetic presence can transform how support, intimacy, and partnership show up in your relationship. This episode offers practical, grounded examples of how to: Stop overfunctioning without guilt Ask for support in a way that invites connection instead of conflict Shift from resentment to self-alignment Create emotional safety without shrinking yourself Trust your partner to step forward by learning how to step back Strengthen your relationship through feminine energy, boundaries, and appreciation If you’re a mom in your late 30s or 40s who feels exhausted, unseen, or emotionally disconnected in your marriage, this episode will help you reclaim your power, soften your nervous system, and create space for love to meet you where you are. This is a powerful conversation about burnout recovery, emotional boundaries, feminine energy, and rebuilding connection in long-term relationships—starting with you. 49. Love Isn’t Earned: Breaking Free from Conditional Love
2026/01/21
Have you ever felt like love is something you have to earn—by doing more, being better, or holding it all together? In this opening episode of a new Love & Relationships miniseries on The Heart AF Podcast, Chelsea VanBuskirk invites millennial moms to question everything they’ve been taught about love, worthiness, and connection. This episode explores how many women unconsciously place conditions on love—both in their relationships and with themselves—by performing, overgiving, people-pleasing, or abandoning their authentic needs in order to feel chosen, accepted, or secure. Chelsea breaks down how these patterns often begin in childhood, how they show up in long-term relationships and marriage, and why conditional love slowly erodes intimacy, polarity, and emotional connection. Through personal stories and relatable examples, she reveals how hyper-independence, control, and constant “doing” can block a woman’s ability to receive love, support, and partnership. You’ll reflect on questions like: Am I performing for love instead of being loved for who I truly am? Am I placing expectations and conditions on my partner without realizing it? Have I lost my softness, receptivity, or feminine energy in my relationship? Am I open to receiving love in the ways my partner is able to give it? This episode is a gentle but powerful invitation to return to authenticity, self-alignment, and unconditional self-love—because the way you love yourself sets the energetic tone for every relationship in your life. If you’re a mom who feels emotionally disconnected, stuck in resentment, or exhausted from doing everything yourself, this episode will help you slow down, gain awareness, and begin shifting how you show up in love—starting with you. This is the beginning of a deeper conversation about feminine energy, healing relationship patterns, emotional safety, and creating partnerships rooted in truth instead of performance. 48. Faith Over Fear: Anchoring Yourself in Uncertain Times
2026/01/14
When life feels uncertain, heavy, or completely out of your control—what do you lean on? In this heartfelt episode of The Heart AF Podcast, Chelsea VanBuskirk explores how faith can become a steady anchor during seasons of fear, uncertainty, grief, and change—especially for moms who carry the emotional weight of their families. Speaking directly to women who feel overwhelmed by “what ifs,” Chelsea breaks down the difference between what is within our control and what simply isn’t—and why trying to control the uncontrollable only deepens anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion. This episode is a compassionate reminder that you were never meant to carry everything on your own. Chelsea shares how fear often shows up as overthinking, planning, and mental spirals—especially during challenges like parenting struggles, relationship uncertainty, health scares, or major life transitions. She explains why surrendering to faith isn’t giving up—it’s releasing what’s too heavy to hold and trusting a higher power to support you. You’ll learn how faith: Creates emotional safety during uncertainty Helps regulate your nervous system when fear takes over Anchors you so you can lead your family with calm instead of panic Allows you to release control without abandoning responsibility Chelsea also shares practical, accessible tools to strengthen faith and inner peace, including prayer, journaling, releasing rituals, asking for signs, and tuning into spiritual support—without needing to be “religious” in a traditional sense. This episode is especially powerful for mothers who feel responsible for everyone else’s emotions and outcomes. Chelsea reframes the role of a mom as the emotional “flight attendant” of the household—showing how anchoring yourself first helps everyone around you feel safer. If you’re navigating uncertainty, parenting challenges, emotional overwhelm, or simply feeling worn down by life, this episode will remind you that you are supported, you are not alone, and you don’t have to have all the answers right now. Faith doesn’t remove the storm—but it can help you stay grounded while you move through it. On this episode of the Heart AF Podcast, I sit down with high-end energy healer and trauma-integrative coach Katie Wessels to talk about what it really looks like to heal from the inside out. Katie shares her raw sobriety journey—from using alcohol and drugs to dissociate and survive, to the moment she chose to finally give herself a real chance at life. 42. Grieving and Receiving Signs During the Holidays
2025/11/19
The Holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, parties, and seeing loved ones, but for some of us, this time of year feels heavy with heartache over our loved ones who are no longer with us during this season. This week, I’m sharing an older episode touching on my personal journey through loss, and grieving through the holiday season. I share with you how we can still feel sad and honor our loved ones while still allowing ourselves to laugh, love, and live in the present moment. Our loved ones in spirit are never too far away from us, and will often send us signs. I share how my dad sends me signs from the other side all the time.  Such a powerful reminder that love never leaves us. 🌟 That if you are open and aware you may start to notice the signs your loved ones could be sending you.. In a song you hear, something that catches your eye, a wild animal, numbers, actual signs, or like for me- license plates! Signs are all around, we can even ask for something specific for validation!  I hope this episode warms your heart and provides you some comfort and tools for making it through this holiday season, especially if grief is still fresh and raw in your heart. I am sending so much love to all of you listening 💖✨ Don't forget to let me know what sign you receive from your loved one!  Send me a DM on Facebook or Instagram @chelsea.vanbuskirk or an email at [email protected] Here is a video I made with some more quick tips to help you if you are grieving this holiday season 🫶: YouTube #grief #griefshare #youaresupported #youarenotalone #youareheld #youvegotthis #wegotyou #onelove #heartaf #innerstrength #weareallone #beyou #youareworthy #youareenough #spiritualgrowth #selfgrowth #spirituality #selfawareness #letitbe #justbe #bestillandknow #pain #griefcloud #feelitall #spiritualhealing #healinggrief #signsfromspirit #signs #mediumship #connection #spirit #divinetiming #journeyofsouls #signsfromabove #signsfromlovedones #riseup #shinebright #shineon #beyou #speakyourtruth #liveyourtruth #doyou #loveoverfear
41. 3 Tangible Actions for Releasing Suppressed Emotions as a Mother
2025/11/12
Have you ever been pushed too far that you finally breakdown and scream and cry while driving in your car? Well that was me the other day.  On this Heart AF episode, I walk you through the moment I was finally able too let go and faced the truths of the pains I had been holding in side, those feelings I hadn't really wanted to look at or acknowledge. They finally bubbled up to the surface and came out in the most animalistic ugly crying and screaming way possible while I was sitting in my car in a public parking lot.  Like Lizzo said, 'Truth Hurts'! BUT..  When I finally looked at the things I didn't want to see, I was able to let it all go. This was a turning point in releasing all the suppressed emotions and  resentment that had been building up within me, showing the only way out of it is through. We dig into: • Suppressed emotions—and how unspoken pain turns into irritation, victimhood, and burnout • The “mirror effect” in relationships (yep, your partner will reflect your stuff) • How to notice triggers before you explode: body cues, short fuse, numb-out habits • Practical tools for release: name it out loud, journal it, move it (somatic shaking/dance), music, crying • Boundaries, responsibility, and self-healing: why no one else can fix what’s hurting inside you • Getting back to alignment—so you can attract joy, abundance, and connection Quick practices to try today: Name the truth: Say it out loud or write it down. Move the energy: 3 minutes of shaking/dancing or a primal scream in a safe space. Micro-boundary: one small, clear ask the next time a line is crossed. The UGLY CRY- This is what healing looks like, It's messy, human, and honest. When we do our inner work, everything around us follows suit! Please share this episode with anyone who could benefit! 🫶 If this resonated, tell me what landed, or share your own release story. I’m listening. 💖 IG/FB: @chelsea.vanbuskirk • Email: [email protected] Don't forget we have our drawing for a 100$ Amazon gift card every month! 40. Parenting Through Crisis & Surrendering to Faith
2025/11/05
I am opening up about one of my most painful moments as a parent when I had to help my oldest daughter through an intense mental-health crisis. This time in our lives was terrifying, but I wanted to share the lessons that came with trying to control what felt uncontrollable, and how everything began to change the moment my husband and I chose to surrender, trust, and lean into our faith. This experience showed me the power of letting go, both as a parent and as a human and how fear often fuels our need for control. In this conversation I explore what it means to create safety, not through holding tighter, but through learning to trust life, God, and the people we love. If you’ve ever struggled with fear, parenting through crisis, or learning to release control when everything feels uncertain, this episode will meet you right where you are, with compassion, hope, and a reminder that you are never alone 💖 Links & Resources: Join the private Heart AF community https://www.facebook.com/groups/heartafcommunity Follow me on Instagram: @chelsea.vanbuskirk Email: [email protected] Write me a review and then screenshot it and send it to me via email or in a DM and be entered in my monthly drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card! 39. How Your Nervous System Impacts Your Kids (My Story of Mom Dysregulation & Burnout)
2025/10/29
This experience showed me the effects of how important co-regulation is with your kids. Especially if you have kids who may have some sensory sensitivities. My nervous system was at a level code red and I had a full on mom meltdown at my son's baseball game. My son was clearly experiencing his own kind of meltdown, that triggered me into both os us losing our sh*t in public. HOWEVER! There is a positive spin to this story as it really showed me how regulating myself, and being aware of my own triggers, can better help me manage my son when he gets into that state. My calm can help him find his.  Why is it the truth that our kids can be our greatest teachers!? Damn I wish it were easier sometimes! In this episode, I share this real moment of parenting through big emotions and dysregulation. I open up about  the struggles we have had with our son and how my triggers and the stories I was creating in my head led to  #momguilt and made this meltdown moment way bigger than it needed to be.  I explore the difference between emotions and feelings, the power of pausing instead of forcing, and how a simple hug helped me co-regulate and come back to center. If you’ve ever felt helpless during your child’s meltdown, or found yourself triggered in the moment, this episode is for you. You’re not alone! Let’s talk about how to move from chaos to calm, one breath or cuss word at a time.
