Oh Me Oh A(I)
2026/10/17
Inflation shocks hit but had warning track power this week, as a strong rotation in the markets continued. Yields came down of their highs but some recent leaders in stocks continued to reel in their gains. This week, Chase digests this volatility for you and gets us ready for the heart of third quarter earnings season. A Tale of Two Markets
2026/10/10
Simon notes favorable momentum and four-year presidential cycle stock market precedent amid the current geopolitical and macroeconomic noise. He highlights the historically wide dispersion between a small stable of largely Technology-oriented names and a healthy chunk of the rest of the market in bear market territory. He notes how the earnings, valuation and consumer health backdrops are still conducive to higher stock prices if interest rates can stabilize. Simon also discusses CEG, VST and LMT as names that have corrected in price and could be worth considering. Tweety Bird

Financial headlines are focusing more and more on the selloff in bonds and the rise in treasury yields. On the show this week, Chase looks at how this is creating opportunities for bond buying, how it may drive some attention away from stocks, and how it may end badly some borrowers. Almighty Earnings
2026/09/26
Simon discusses the tight relationship between earnings growth and stock market returns over longer periods of time and how historically strong corporate performance over recent quarters has buoyed stocks in the face of numerous geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges. He discusses the potential impact of higher rates on stocks and highlights how elevated bond yields are rightly attracting investor interest. Simon also reviews the case for MCK and ICE as ideas for investors to potentially consider. Warsh Of Course
2026/09/19
The Fed delivered their widely anticipated cuts this week. Afterwards, it felt like everyone looked at each other for an hour, then started selling, only to come back on Thursday and start with the buying. On this week's show, Chase tries to make sense of this but puts a greater emphasis on the historic implication of where bond yields have reached and what that means for stocks for the rest of the year. The foregoing information has been obtained from sources considered to be reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is accurate or complete, it is not a statement of all available data necessary for making an investment decision, and it does not constitute a recommendation. Power Surge
2026/09/12
Simon discusses the sharp rise in interest rates that has gathered steam recently. He frames the difference between Fed-controlled and market-driven rates and how to think about from an investor perspective. He suggests that, while rates and bond prices will undoubtedly remain volatile in the near term, the risk-reward tradeoff has grown much more favorable for patient investors. He also examines the electrification megatrend and how a secular investment story is unfolding given a chronically undersupplied market. WIG Stocks: VST, ETN, GEV The foregoing information has been obtained from sources considered to be reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is accurate or complete, it is not a statement of all available data necessary for making an investment decision, and it does not constitute a recommendation. Wake Me Up When September Ends
2026/09/05
A sharp rise in interest rates and another bond market selloff rattled investors early in the week, putting pressure on stocks while the Treasury Department worked to contain the wildfire burning at the long end of the yield curve. But a handful of comments from a Fed governor changed the mood in a hurry, reversing much of the move by Thursday. On this week's podcast, Chase explains what happened. And staying with the wildfire theme, he also takes a fresh look at a major power producer and its place in the increasingly heated debate over data centers and electricity demand. Learn and Earn From the Churn
2026/08/22
Simon highlights the rise in individual stock volatility and intra-market churn. He cautions against associating daily stock price movement with changes in fundamentals and encourages investors to not miss important emerging trends such as the resurgence in Healthcare and Financials. Simon also provides some thoughts around the rise in longer-term bond yields and how investors should consider in their portfolio positioning.  He notes VST, NFLX and UBER as potential values to consider. What's Bigger Than Mega, Giga?
2026/08/15
A giga deal in the AI world this week reshaped the funding landscape to facilitate the growth for the foreseeable future. On the show this week, Chase will review the notable economic news of the week but focus on what this deal means as far as the momentum for spending and risk in the economy. Just a Flesh wound?
2026/08/08
Simon discusses the violence underneath the surface as July witnessed some of the most significant dispersion in underlying stock market performance in recent memory. He highlights the correction in high flying, momentum stocks and how individual investors, in aggregate, appear to be underperforming the broad benchmarks this year. He also notes how company fundamentals are generally changing much less quickly than stock prices and that investors should understand the story behind the price! He reviews recent reports from LLY, AAPL and AMZN. Warsh Pleads the Fifth
2026/08/01
A deliberately opaque message from the Fed shakes the markets and draws down a premium from stocks, bonds, and the dollar. This week Chase looks at why there was such a big reaction to a meeting where nothing happened and looks through the inner workings of one of the world's largest energy companies. Nothing Lasts Forever
2026/07/25
Simon discusses how the market outwardly is experiencing average volatility but there is extreme dispersion at the sector and individual stock level between the surface. He highlights the risks of "momentum" investing and how proper diversification inherently means that parts of the portfolio may be underperforming for periods of time. He also talks about the extremely high bar for corporate earnings and how investors must understand the fundamentals and stories beyond the immediate share price reactions. He discusses recent reports from NFLX, GOOGL and DHR WIG Names: GOOGL, NFLX, DHR, AAPL The foregoing information has been obtained from sources considered to be reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is accurate or complete, it is not a statement of all available data necessary for making an investment decision, and it does not constitute a recommendation. Inherited IRAs: Navigating the 10-Year Rule
2026/07/18
In today's Wise Investor Show podcast, Senior Financial Planner Greg Smith discusses some of the ways you can either bypass the forced distribution from an IRA in 10 years for inheritors, or make it more palatable for you and your beneficiaries.  With additional ideas in your hip pocket, you'll be better equipped to consider what path you want your IRA accounts to be on, and how you prefer your beneficiaries receive what you saved, invested and grew over the years.  The foregoing information has been obtained from sources considered to be reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is accurate or complete, it is not a statement of all available data necessary for making an investment decision, and it does not constitute a recommendation. Dr. Strangelove
2026/07/11
Expectations from the latest Nato meeting as well as a collapse of the cease fire are driving energy prices higher and expectations for further defense spending. On this week's show, Chase looks at the forecasts for defense spending as well as an update for the rest of the year from one of the big Wall St firms, along with a look at a NOC and NFLX.
