Marsha Mason, Malört shots, and the best hair we’ve ever seen in a Hallmark movie. We review Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story and land in different places on whether the story underneath holds up. Hallmark’s third NFL Christmas movie came out swinging on opening weekend, and we have a lot to say about it. Lyndsy Fonseca and Robert Buckley are a terrific pairing with comedy built in rather than bolted on. Marsha Mason is the heart of the whole thing. And Megan would like someone to tell her where to buy those green glasses. But we both wanted more comedy than this script was willing to give Robert Buckley, and Wendy makes the case that if you strip away the Bears, the Chicago of it all and the football traditions, what’s left is a very familiar Hallmark shape. Megan doesn’t mind the formula when the extra layers earn their keep. We do not resolve this. Plus: an Italian beef that was far too dry, a thermostat reading 75 degrees in a Chicago winter, the Always product placement that refused to be discreet, and the movie marquee Easter egg that Mackie has now caught twice in three films. We also hear from Tamera Mowry-Housley about how her cameo happened, from Shannon in Australia about the jumbotron tribute, and from Kea, a Chicagoan who settles the Malört question, confirms cornhole is real, and has strong feelings about a boat tour on a frozen river. Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story kicked off a new era of football-themed Christmas movies for Hallmark Channel when it premiered in 2024. Starring Hunter King and Tyler Hynes, the movie was the first collaboration between Hallmark and the NFL and brought together holiday romance, Kansas City Chiefs fandom, and plenty of familiar faces from Chiefs Kingdom. Set in Kansas City and centered around one family’s bid to become the team’s “Fan of the Year,” Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story launched what has since become an annual Hallmark football tradition, with the Buffalo Bills getting their turn in 2025 and the Chicago Bears joining the lineup in 2026. Haul Out the Halloween (Encore) Five stars. No notes. Not a single wish between us, which almost never happens around here.  Halloween-obsessed new neighbors move onto Evergreen Lane and inspire the whole street to become EverSCREAM Lane. Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown are back as Emily and Jared, Maclain Nelson writes and directs again, and Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz turn up as the new arrivals. This is our final fall favorite encore as we head into the last weekend of Fall Into Love on Hallmark Channel. The review was originally published in October 2025. We get into the five-minute wedding that opens the movie and the one throwaway line in it that wrecked us, why Melissa Peterman and Stephen Tobolowsky together are comedy gold, the Nickelback runner, and the pop culture references that are going to land for a very specific audience. 3 Bed 2 Bath 1 Ghost (Encore) A 1920s ghost refuses to leave the house real estate agent Anna has just listed, and she’s convinced she can’t pass over until she gets Anna back together with her ex. We both came in expecting ghostly hijinks. What we got was one of the best Hallmark movies of the year. This encore review was originally recorded in 2023, back when our format was a little different and our ratings were, in Megan’s words, pure vibes. We’re re-airing our favorite fall movies as we count down to Halloween. Julie Gonzalo stars as Anna opposite her real-life partner Chris McNally as Elliot, and Madeline Arthur turns up as Ruby and walks away with the entire movie. We get into why the friendship between Anna and Ruby is the real love story here, the ghost rules this ghost cheerfully ignores, the two male characters we’d cut entirely, and the backstory questions we still want answered three years later.  Megan gave it 4.25 stars. Pumpkin Regatta Romance premiered on Hallmark Channel on September 26, 2026, and it turns out a movie about people paddling hollowed-out foam pumpkins across a lake is genuinely charming. Mishael Morgan stars as Nadine, a marina owner trying to bring back her town's beloved pumpkin regatta after a decade-old feud between her father and the local pumpkin farmer shut it down. Corey Sevier plays Ethan, the pumpkin farmer's son and the one who got away.
