What happens when a Green Beret takes the survival skills he learned growing up and turns them into a business designed to bring families closer together?
In Episode 477 of the Security Halt! Podcast, host Deny Caballero sits down with Aaron Blaine, Green Beret veteran and founder of Wild Ops Box, to discuss veteran entrepreneurship, outdoor survival skills, military transition, fatherhood, and building stronger family connections through hands-on experiences.
Inspired by the lessons his father and grandfather taught him, Aaron created Wild Ops Box, a family-focused outdoor adventure subscription box designed to help parents teach their children practical skills while spending meaningful time together. Through a structured 12-month curriculum, families can explore shelter building, fire building, knot tying, resourcefulness, and outdoor problem-solving without needing extensive survival experience.
Aaron shares how teaching these skills strengthened his relationship with his son, built confidence, and created opportunities for connection beyond everyday distractions. He also explains how Wild Ops Box combines outdoor education, STEM learning, survival skills, family values, and parent-child activities into an accessible experience.
The conversation goes beyond entrepreneurship as Aaron and Deny discuss the challenges of transitioning from military service to civilian life, finding meaningful employment, involving spouses in major life decisions, and recognizing the importance of mentorship.
Aaron also shares how Warrior Rising helped him develop his business pitch, expand his professional network, and gain confidence as a veteran entrepreneur. He discusses his partnership with survival expert Hazen Audel and his vision for building a community around outdoor adventure and family connection.
Episode 477 is a conversation about Green Beret entrepreneurship, fatherhood, outdoor survival skills for kids, veteran-owned businesses, military transition, and finding purpose after service.

Did you know U.S. Army Green Berets once trained to infiltrate behind enemy lines carrying nuclear weapons?
In this debut episode of Special Forces Declassified, a new Security Halt! Podcast segment exploring the history, missions, and people of U.S. Army Special Forces, Deny Caballero examines the Cold War’s secretive Green Light teams.
These specially trained Green Berets prepared to infiltrate denied territory and employ Special Atomic Demolition Munitions, or SADMs, against critical targets if the Cold War turned into a conflict with the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact. The compact nuclear devices could be transported by individual operators, creating one of the most extraordinary mission sets in Special Forces history.
This episode explores the origins of Green Light, tactical nuclear weapons, Special Forces selection and training, infiltration methods, potential targets, nuclear security procedures, the extraordinary risks operators accepted, and the legacy of a mission that remained secret for decades.
