DjHistory Podcast: Moxie (DJH039)
2026/08/27
Moxie is a radio presenter, label head, compiler, promoter and, of course, DJ.As a radio DJ, she's held a number of residencies - the most prominent and lasting her association with @nts_radio, which began a month after it launched and continues to this day. Her label @onloopofficial is now 10 years old, and she was also nominated for Best Resident DJ at DJ Mag's Best of British Awards in 2019. We had a wide-ranging discussion, which included discovering DJing via an after-school club, her role as a female promoter, how she prepares for shows, and advice on how to get ahead in a notoriously tough music industry.Tune in now via Mixcloud, Spotify and YouTube now ✨Follow DjHistory Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/djhistorycom/ Follow DjHistory TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@djhistorycomFollow DjHistory Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/djhistory/Sign up to our Mailing List: https://www.subscribepage.com/djhistoryHome of the DjHistory forum and other arcane DJ ephemera 🖤For More info: https://djhistory.com/
DjHistory Podcast: Mike Pickering (DJH038)
2026/08/06
One of the first Dj's to dispense with the microphone and drag DJ culture kicking and screaming into the modern era, Mike Pickering has seen it all. From meeting most of his musical contemporaries via the terraces of Man Cities main road, and the away ends of division one. Through to forming a series of groups Quando Quango, through to M People. Pickering stayed one step ahead of the DJ game all the way through the 1980s via his residency at the Hacienda, and then winning brit awards and a Mercury music Prize. We talked to Mike about the life on the terraces, his time in Rotterdam, the influence of Quando Quango, T-Coy and M People and guiding Calvin Harris into the pop charts.
DjHistory: Crazy P (DJH036)
2026/04/30
Crazy P are a curious collective. Without ever having hits, they’ve become one of dance music’s most beloved outfits. As they enter their 30th year in the business, we reflected on a range of topics, from records that clear the floor, collaborating remotely, growing champion radishes and mourning the death of much-loved singer Danielle Moore.
DjHistory: Fish Go Deep (DJH036)
2026/04/02
Fish Go Deep is the pseudonym for Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson - their reputation in their hometown of Cork is already legendary - as long term residents in the cities Sir henrys nightclub. They transformed what was a largely rock venue into a citadel of modern electronic music, with a residency that lasted well over 10 years and cemented their reputation of two of the best DJs Ireland has ever produced. We chat about Corks varied musical history, the twisted tale of the cure on the cause and their studio working methods. Tune in!
DjHistory Podcast: Ruby Savage (DJH035)
2026/02/17
Ruby Savage joins us on the DJHistory podcast - Amsterdam-raised selector, broadcaster and one of the most thoughtful voices in modern club culture.
She reflects on growing up in the Dutch capital, where open-ended nights and eclectic radio shaped her musical instincts early on, and traces the path from those formative dancefloors to becoming a respected presence behind the decks and on the airwaves. We also discuss her Don’t Be A Creep initiative - a grassroots push to challenge behaviour in nightlife and protect the spaces that club culture depends on - alongside a wider conversation on independence, responsibility, and what it means to contribute something lasting to the culture.
DjHistory Podcast - Jamz Supernova (DJH034)
2025/12/22
Having shamelessly befriended Jamz Supernova a few weeks back, we managed to coax her into the DJH studio with the promise of a season ticket to watch Grimsby Town. We chatted about her rise through the radio ranks from local station in Sydenham to the BBC, where she has presented shows for ten years. Have listen, this is a woman with a mission and purpose.
DjHistory Podcast - Greg Wilson (DJH033)
2025/11/27
In an industry that venerates youth, it’s remarkable achievement to be still going in your 40s, yet Greg Wilson is so close to his retirement pot, he can smell it from here. He began spinning in 1975 as a 15-year-old teenager, went on to win residencies at the Haçienda and, more importantly, Legend in Manchester.
DjHistory Podcast - Neil Rushton (DJH032)
2025/09/25
Neil Rushton has enjoyed a lifetime of activity in dance music, from his discovery of northern soul to becoming a DJ and promoter. He's owned a bunch of record labels over the years, including Network, the label that turned Altern-8 into pop stars. He was also instrumental in the naming of a genre: techno. He explains how the seminal compilation, 1988's Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit came about.
DjHistory Podcast - Artwork (DJH031)
2025/08/28
Artwork – aka Arthur Smith – was there at the birth of dubstep, guiding it into the limelight via the quasi pop stars Magnetic Man and out of the other side. There are few producers or DJs as versatile as this dance music polymath. We map his adventures with the likes of Skream, Benga and Danny Harrison from Big Apple in Croydon to the actual Big Apple, New York.
DjHistory Podcast - Megatronic (DJH030)
2025/07/31
Singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, world itinerant, Megatronic wears a number of hats, which is handy cos in this weather she might need one. We chatted to her about living in Dubai, growing up in London, her love for PJ Harvey and how she pivoted from musician to DJ after the tragic death of a band member in her group Black Cherry.
DjHistory Podcast - Norman Cook (DJH029)
2025/06/26
After a couple of mini disasters, for this month's podcast, we dipped into the archives and exhumed an interview we did during the pandemic with Norman Cook, which has never been seen or heard before. Norman talks about playing the stooge on Tik Tok, his fascination with Suzi Quatro's all-in-one leather outfit, being played on the Rovers Return jukebox, pole dancing dancing with Sheryl Crow and having a dildo named after him. Oh and how to make a hit record.
DjHistory Podcast - Abigail Ward (DJH028)
2025/05/29
Abigail Ward caused a stir two years ago with her brilliant debut single, I Miss Your Love. Her uncompromising approach to music-making and DJing is expressed brilliantly in this discussion which covers her path to creativity, working in a record store, and her current disillusionment with the torpor of today's dancefloors.
DjHistory Podcast - Sean Johnston (DJH027)
2025/04/24
Sean Johnston's name may not necessarily be one that trips off the tongue so readily, but as one half of A Love From Outer space, he's most definitely in the frame. Sadly we lost his partner Andrew Weatherall almost exactly five years ago, but we talk to Sean about his early life in the farmlands of Yorkshire, early forays to the fleshpots of Driffield and Hull, before seeking fame, fortune and Balearic rarities in London. He also has a long overdue compilation out now, which you can buy here.
DjHistory Podcast - CC:DISCO! (DJH026)
2025/03/11
This month’s podcast guest is the indomitable CC:Disco! CC opens our discussion with extremely detailed instructions for her funeral, before we go on to discuss women, Lisbon, radio v club and the importance of Kevin & Perry Go Large.
DjHistory Podcast - Richard Sen (DJH025)
2025/01/30
Richard Sen's entry into youth culture was as the first person to be imprisoned for his graffitti work (under the name Coma). He was ‘saved’ when he turned his attention to acid house, becoming firstly a DJ and, in short order, a producer/remixer. We discuss his trajectory towards jail, his career as a DJ and producer and his accidental work as a criminologist.
