From Nearly 400 Pounds to Carnivore: Jordan Goforth’s Weight Loss, Faith & Fatherhood Journey
2026/09/29
Jordan Goforth was approaching 400 pounds and dealing with severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure, gout, diverticulitis, and a growing list of health problems.
Something had to change.
In this episode of the Fit Fathers Fellowship Podcast, I sit down with pastor, husband, father, and host of Goforth & Carnivore, Jordan Goforth, to talk about the wake-up call that finally pushed him to take control of his health.
Jordan shares how he began making changes, why years of trying different diets never created lasting results, and how he eventually transitioned to a carnivore diet—eliminating sugar, bread, pasta, rice, and other carbohydrates from his diet.
But this conversation is about more than weight loss.
We talk about faith, fatherhood, discipline, health, nutrition, and taking responsibility for the body and family God has entrusted to you.
We also discuss an important reality in fitness and nutrition: there isn't just one way to get healthier. Different approaches can work for different people when they're willing to consistently follow through.
In this episode, we cover:
Jordan’s journey from nearly 400 pounds
The frightening reality of severe sleep apnea
High blood pressure, gout, and diverticulitis
The health scare that finally forced him to change
Giving up soda and losing his first 30 pounds
Why previous diets never lasted
How he discovered the carnivore diet
Eliminating sugar and processed carbohydrates
The connection between health, discipline, faith, and fatherhood
Why dads need to take ownership of their health
Finding a nutrition strategy you can actually stick with
If you're a dad who knows you need to lose weight, improve your health, regain your energy, or simply start taking better care of yourself, Jordan's story is proof that your current situation doesn't have to be your final destination.
Fit Fathers Fellowship exists to help men grow stronger in faith, fitness, fatherhood, and life.

The Minimum Effective Dose for Busy Dads: Faith, Fitness & Getting Strong With Less Time
2026/09/22
Busy dad? You do not need 90-minute workouts, a perfect schedule, or hours of quiet time to make real progress.
If you want a simple full-body training plan built for busy dads, check out my workout program here: Grab a free trial here
In this episode of Fit Fathers Fellowship, I break down the idea of the minimum effective dose—doing the smallest amount of focused, intentional work that still moves you forward.
It’s a concept Tim Ferriss helped popularize in The 4-Hour Body, and it has shaped the way I think about training, especially in this season of fatherhood.
I love seeing dads take on Ironmans, ultras, and huge physical challenges. But that’s not the phase of life I’m in right now.
My goal is simple:
Get as strong, fit, athletic, and capable as possible with the limited time I actually have.
We talk about why three focused full-body workouts can go a long way, why intensity and consistency matter more than spending hours in the gym, and how daily movement can fill in the gaps.
I also share how the same principle applies to our faith.
While reading Charles Swindoll’s So, You Want to Be Like Christ?, I was reminded that we can easily fall into the trap of thinking that if we don’t have 30–45 minutes for Bible study or prayer, it isn’t worth doing.
But maybe you don’t have 45 minutes today.
Maybe you have four.
Four focused minutes in Scripture, prayer, or meditation on God’s Word is far better than waiting for a perfect window of time that never comes.
In this episode:
• The minimum effective dose for busy dads• Why shorter workouts can still produce great results• How to train hard without living in the gym• Why perfection often leads to inconsistency• How to simplify your faith without making it shallow• Building a “minimum” that keeps you moving forward in fitness, faith, and fatherhood
You do not always need more time.
Sometimes you just need to get more intentional with the time you already have.
Train hard. Stay faithful. Be present. Keep moving forward.
The 8-Week Fitness Push Every Dad Needs
2026/09/17
Stop waiting for January 1st.
You still have more than three months left in 2026 — plenty of time to get stronger, lose fat, rebuild your habits, strengthen your faith, and create serious momentum heading into the new year.
In this episode of the Fit Fathers Fellowship Podcast, I’m talking about the power of starting NOW instead of mentally writing off the rest of the year.
I also share what I’ve learned from 15 straight days of hitting 10,000 steps, why short walking breaks have actually helped my productivity, the story of my dad losing roughly 160 pounds after deciding to change on a random day in the middle of the week, and why an eight-week focused push can be so effective.

In today’s episode:
• Why January 1st isn’t magical — and why today is a perfectly good day to start• How to use an 8-week training block to create urgency and momentum• Why consistency doesn’t mean never missing — it means returning quickly• What hitting 10,000 steps per day has taught me about activity and productivity• The simple decision that helped my dad lose roughly 160 pounds• Why busy dads should build fitness around their actual lives• How to choose ONE clear physical goal instead of chasing 15 at once• The importance of daily minimums for protein, steps, Scripture, sleep, and hydration• Why “what gets measured gets managed”• How to stop one missed workout or bad meal from becoming a lost month• How to enter the holidays with momentum instead of waiting until January
You don’t need a new year.
You need a decision.
Pick a goal. Set your daily minimums. Track your progress. Give yourself eight focused weeks and see what happens.
Faith. Family. Fitness.
Let’s finish 2026 strong.

Welcome to Step-Tember.
For the month of September, the challenge is simple: hit 10,000 steps every day and read at least 10 verses of Scripture.
In this episode, I’m talking about one of the biggest excuses dads make as we get older: “My metabolism just isn’t what it used to be.”
While aging can play a role, the bigger issue for a lot of us is much simpler—we sit more, move less, and often eat more than we did when we were younger.
So today I’m breaking down five practical ways busy dads can stay more active outside of their normal workouts, including walking more, wrestling with your kids, family walks, practicing sports with your kids, and deliberately choosing the more physical option throughout your day.
I also share why this challenge is about more than steps. It’s about building consistency, feeding your faith, and learning to do the next right thing even when you’ve fallen out of rhythm.
This month’s goal:
10,000 steps per day.
10+ verses of Scripture per day.
Move your body. Feed your faith. Become a stronger husband and dad.
If this episode helps you, send it to another dad who needs the challenge.
How Busy Dads Get Back on Track | Fitness, Faith, Marriage & Fatherhood
2026/08/25
After nearly two months away from the podcast, I’m back—and this episode is about something I think every busy dad needs to hear:
You don’t have to fix everything today. You just have to do the next right thing.
READY TO GET BACK ON TRACK WITH YOUR FITNESS?
I have both a 3-day-per-week full-body program for busy dads who want maximum results with fewer training days and a 5-day-per-week program for guys who want to spend more time in the gym.
When you pay for a full year upfront, you’ll save compared to paying month-to-month—and after your free 7-day trial and annual payment, I’ll send you a FREE $50 1st Phorm gift card to put toward protein, creatine, or whatever you need.

Life gets busy. Work piles up. Your fitness slips. You stop spending time in the Word. Your marriage gets less attention. Your finances get pushed to the side. You feel like you haven’t been as present with your kids as you should be.
And the further you get from where you want to be, the harder it feels to start again.
In this episode of the Fit Fathers Fellowship Podcast, I talk about how I fell into that exact trap with this podcast—and the simple mindset I’m using to get back on track.
We talk about:
Identifying the next right thing instead of trying to overhaul your entire lifeCreating daily non-negotiables for your faith, fitness, nutrition, and familySetting weekly priorities that actually move your life forwardGetting back into a workout routine after falling offMaking small, consistent investments in your marriageTaking control of your finances instead of avoiding themGetting back into the Bible when you’ve been inconsistentBeing more present and intentional with your kidsWhy missing a day—or even a season—doesn’t mean you’ve failedYou don’t lose 30 pounds in a day. You don’t build a great marriage in a weekend. You don’t become the dad you want to be with one big decision.
You stack good days.
So if you’ve fallen off lately, don’t wait until Monday. Don’t build some elaborate six-month plan.
Figure out what matters most, decide what you can do about it today, and do the next right thing.
Strong dads build strong families.
Thanks for listening. Keep crushing goals and encouraging some other dads along the way.
