Episode 195: My Hobby Was Work (Until It Wasn’t)- Finding Life Outside My Business
2026/10/19
Summary
In this episode, I’m stepping away from business talk to get personal about hobbies. After a quick health update on my suspected MCAS and a heads up that my SEO webinars are coming in January, I share how reading was my biggest hobby as a kid, how school and building my business left no room for anything but work, and how I finally decided I deserve personal time. I walk through the hobbies I’ve tried since moving to California, while recognizing that not having kids gives me more time and that some seasons of life just don’t allow for hobbies. If you’re curious, this is your permission to try something, even for 10 minutes.
What I Talked About
My health update: a reaction after a game at UCLA and why I suspect MCASSEO webinars coming in January and a possible Black Friday pre-saleReading as my biggest childhood hobby, from library days to reading with my great-grandmaHow college, PT school, and building my business left zero room for hobbiesDeciding I deserve personal time and trying cooking, sourdough, Legos, piano, ceramics, and morePermission to start small, skip what doesn’t excite you, and honor your season of life

Episode 194: What to Ask Before You Say Yes to an Agency (Or Service Provider)
2026/10/12
Summary
In this episode, I’m walking you through the questions I think you should ask a service provider before you decide to work with them, specifically for websites, SEO, and ads. Before I dive in, I share a LextroMind update (applications open in December for a January start), let you know I’m booking all big projects into 2027, and talk about how much I’m loving collaborating with Shante on client sites. I also get real about a rough week, including a trip to urgent care. Then I get into the main topic, which came from an Instagram post about my radius policy and why I don’t work with the same type of provider in the same town. I cover questions about AI, conflicts of interest, who owns your accounts, what happens when you part ways, ad spend, reporting, who actually does the work, communication, references, and where your assets are being built. Everyone has a different process, and that’s okay. You just have to choose the variance you’re comfortable with, and you can’t do that if you don’t know what to ask.

Episode 193: Near Me Keywords (It's Not About Putting "Near Me" on Your Website)
2026/10/05
Summary
In this episode, I'm talking all about near me keywords and how to actually come up in local searches. Before I dive in, I catch you up on life: another Southern California heat wave, hosting both my family and Shante's family last week, and how being out of routine has my body flaring up as I keep working on managing my inflammation and swelling. I also share that I'm shifting toward more free and lower ticket education, including posting more helpful tips on social media again. Then I get into the main topic: why stuffing "near me" or your town name all over your website reads as spam to Google, how Google actually uses proximity, relevance, and prominence to rank you for near me searches, and three introductory things you can do right now to improve your chances of showing up locally.
What I Talked About
Hosting our families and why I build my business to be flexibleMy plan to put out more free and lower ticket educationWhat near me keywords are and why you should never add them to your websiteHow Google ranks near me searches using proximity, relevance, and prominenceWhy stuffing your town name everywhere hurts your credibilityThree things to do now: consistent name, address, and phone number, a "where to find us" section, and geotagged photos

Episode 192: Instagram Link-In-Bio Suggestions
2026/09/28
Summary
In this episode, I'm talking about the Instagram link in bio: where to build it, how to keep it updated, and the one thing I see people miss constantly. Build it on your own website instead of Linktree, keep it current, and always include a button that goes straight to your homepage, even when you have a program open for enrollment.
What I Talked About
Building your link in bio on your own website instead of LinktreeKeeping it updated and removing outdated buttonsAlways including a homepage button, even during a launchGiving people the autonomy to explore beyond your current offer

Episode 191: Blogging Can Help You Get Other Media Inquiries
2026/09/21
Summary
In this episode, I'm sharing a lesser-known benefit of blogging: your posts can get you featured in larger publications, journals, and the news. I tell the story of a client whose blog posts on a specific population led two people to reach out for features. I also tackle the biggest blocks I hear, like no time, no capacity, or not feeling like a good writer, and explain why you're already educating patients every day and just need to write it down.
What I Talked About
How a body of work on your website gets you found by journalists and larger publicationsA client story: blog posts that led to two feature requestsMaking your posts personal, not genericCommon blocks: no time, no capacity, "blogging is dead"Why you don't need to be a "good writer" to startMy Monday Minute journey to 100 newslettersBlogging as written patient educationBlog vs. social media for brick-and-mortar and online businessesWhy I recommend two blog posts a monthBlogging as a long-term investment

Episode 190: A Phrase I Love to Help Me Say No (Or Yes!)
2026/09/14
Summary
In this episode, I share one of my favorite decision-making frameworks: every time you say yes to one thing, you're saying no to something else. Before I get into it, I give a quick life update (it is extremely hot here and I am not okay), share that I started a ceramics class, and give a business update. I'm fully booked, taking on new projects into January and February, and thinking through ways to potentially serve more people.
What I Talked About
The heat wave hitting our area and why it's a bigger deal here than you'd thinkStarting a ceramics wheel class and possibly switching to hand-buildingTrying to make friends at an art studio (everyone has their AirPods in, of course)Business update: fully booked, waitlisted for new websites, booking into Jan/Feb for Google Ads, Meta Ads, and web projectsThe frustration of not having capacity to help people who've been burned by bad workIdeas I'm noodling on: live webinars and live SEO teachingMy time with Emma Jack in 2021 and how she helped me go all-in on my digital businessThe framework: every time you say yes to something, you're saying no to something elseHow I actually run through this question: time, energy, mental load, hobbies, finances, and peaceWhy predictability and energy exchange are always my top prioritiesA reminder that you get to decide what your business looks like

Episode 189: Discounted Evals and Meta Ads
2026/09/07
Summary
In this episode, I'm breaking down why I don't recommend running discounted eval ads for cash-based PT clinics. The discounted first session approach pulls in the wrong patients, creates a price transparency problem, and honestly mirrors the kind of healthcare experience most cash-based owners say they left behind. You'll hear my take on the goal of a Meta ad and how it isn't to sell a cheap eval, what happens when you pitch a full-price package after a discounted first visit, and why locking people into a landing page takes away their ability to make an informed healthcare decision. You don't have to discount your services to make ads work, and I'll tell you exactly what to do instead.
What I Talked About
Personal updates: pottery class, finishing Yesteryear, reading The Wedding PeopleBeing at max capacity and why I'm scheduling clients into the new yearMy Brick app auto-schedule and why I love having hard stops on work accessWhat the actual goal of a Meta ad is, and what it isn'tWhy a discounted eval pulls in the wrong people and creates a transparency problemThe disconnect between a discounted first session and then pitching a full-price packageWhy locking people into a landing page takes away their ability to make an informed decisionWhat to do instead: awareness-focused ads, transparent pricing, and letting clients come to you ready

Episode 188: Tech & Set-Up You Need to Record An Online Course
2026/08/31
Summary
This week I'm sharing everything I use to record my online courses, from my camera and mic setup to the software I use to record, edit, caption, and host. I also give a quick business and personal update before diving in, and I share why recording a course is actually the easiest part of the whole process.
What I Talked About
Business update: closed to new clients until 2027Health update: navigating unexplained allergic reactionsWhy building an audience comes before recording a courseThe LextroMind (enrollment opens end of year)Camera, mic, lighting, room treatemnt, software, editing, and moreHosting your course on Kajabi You don't need a perfect setup to begin

Episode 187: When Moving Your Website Actually Makes Sense
2026/08/24
Summary
In this episode, I'm diving into the topic of moving your website from one platform to another and why it's not always the right move. I share which platforms I recommend, why Squarespace is my top pick for health and wellness practitioners, and what it really means when switching platforms feels easy. The short version: if your website is easy to move (energetically and financially), it probably needs more work on it.
What I Talked About
Which website platforms I actually recommend and whyWhen moving your website does and doesn't make senseThe "forever home" concept and why your platform choice matters long-termWhy a price increase is not a good reason to switch platformsHow content and SEO work tie directly to committing to your platform

Episode 186: Meta Ads for Brick-and-Mortar Practices & What They're Actually For
2026/08/17
Summary
In this episode, I'm sharing my honest take on Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram) for brick-and-mortar practices. I break down why I don't believe Meta ads alone can fill your schedule, what they're actually useful for, and the order of marketing operations I recommend. I also share a quick life and business update, including that I'm nearly booked out for large projects through the end of the year.
What I Talked About
Why word-of-mouth and SEO should come before paid adsGoogle Ads vs. Meta Ads for brick-and-mortar clinicsWhy Meta ads are interruption marketing, not intent-basedThe real purpose of Meta ads: brand and service awarenessHow multiple marketing channels work together to actually fill your schedule

Episode 185: Legal Documents Your Website Needs And What They Mean
2026/08/10
Summary
In this episode, I'm keeping things light and talking about something I get asked about all the time- legal documents for your website. Before diving in, I share a quick life update: it's August and I'm already planning ahead for fall, which always brings a wave of inquiries. Most of my business is retainer clients at this point (some since 2021!), so spots are limited, and I'm booking into October and November. The main topic is the four legal documents most website owners need, what they do, and why they matter.
This comes with a big disclaimer that I'm not a lawyer and everything I share is from experience building websites and learning from legal professionals over the years. Consult with your own lawyer accordingly.
What I Talked About
Fall business planning and booking timelinesThe nature of my retainer client relationships and why clients stay long-termThe Bear and Ted Lasso as my current TV watchesThe four legal documents every website owner should consider: Privacy Policy — legally required; tells visitors what data you collect and how you use itTerms & Conditions — not legally required but highly recommended; protects you and sets rules for how people interact with your siteMedical Disclaimer — important if you publish health/PT content and don't want readers to mistake it for medical adviceAccessibility Statement — an emerging area of legal risk; shows good faith effort toward an accessible websiteAccessibility plugins (ElfSite and UserWay) as practical toolsWhy I don't recommend using AI to write legal documentsHow to add legal pages to your website (blank page + footer link)Course terms and conditions as an additional document if you sell digital products

Episode 184: Building a Business Around Your Body: My Autoimmune Journey
2026/08/03
Summary
In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on my personal history with autoimmune and chronic inflammation symptoms, and how that journey has shaped the way I run my business. I share how years of grinding through survival mode, taking calls at 5:30 AM, working multiple jobs, and building businesses while navigating huge life transitions, kept my body in a suppressed state for over a decade. Once my nervous system finally settled and I felt emotionally safe and calm, my body started speaking up. I've spent the last couple of years learning to actually listen. I walk through what managing a flare looks like for me, the specific habits and supplements I rely on, and why I've built my schedule and client relationships around protecting my capacity. The business lesson: design your work to support your body, not the other way around, and never throw your past self under the bus, because that version of you got you here.
What I Talked About
My history with chronic autoimmune symptoms (gut, skin, joints, rosacea) and family history of Crohn'sHow survival mode suppressed my symptoms for over a decade and what happened when my nervous system finally settledThe grind era of my business (2018–2023) and how a major life transition changed everythingThe "threat bucket" concept and how compounding triggers add upHow I manage a flare: liver rolling, lifting, supplements, diet modifications, and nervous system regulationHow I've redesigned my schedule, client work, and communication habits to protect my capacityWhy honoring your past self matters because the grind version of you made the current version possible

Episode 183: An Important Addition to Your Blog Page
2026/07/27
Summary
I'm fresh off a beach weekend cheering on Shante's mentor's (owner of Fringe Red Light) daughter while she played volleyball. The main topic today: one thing your website is probably missing if you're publishing content: a search bar on your blog page. I also talk about why sending people to your full website matters, and why writing your own content (not AI-generated) is more important than ever right now.
What I Talked About
Beach weekend watching volleyball with Shante's mentor, owner of Fringe Red LightStumbling into old grad school files and a podcast series idea brewing in my Notes appEvaluating my client load and how grateful I am for the people I work with
Why you should send people to your full website, not just a landing pageAdding a search bar to your blog page and why it mattersWriting your own content around the topics you treat — and why AI-generated blogs are a hard no for me

Episode 182: Switzerland, Bad Pod Review, and My Thoughts About Patient Drop-Offs
2026/07/20
Summary
I'm back from eight days in Switzerland watching volleyball, eating great food, and playing tour guide since we went last year too. Before getting into the main topic, I share a nine-month-old negative Apple Podcast review I stumbled across and why it reminded me that not everyone is your person and that's a good thing. I also ask you to leave a written review on Apple if you enjoy the show. Then I get into patient drop-offs: why I think they're not as negative as we treat them, why automated texts and emails are the wrong move, and why a personalized check-in will always beat a triggered sequence.
What I Talked About
Recapping eight days in Switzerland watching volleyballFinding a nine-month-old negative Apple Podcast reviewWhy your art is not a transactional resourceAsking you to leave a written review on Apple PodcastsTwo PT stories about patients who stopped comingWhy patient drop-offs deserve a reframePersonalized check-ins vs. automated drop-off sequences

Episode 181: Why AI-Built Websites Are a Trap
2026/07/13
Summary
In this episode, I'm getting real about the AI website problem. I break down why AI-built websites are a bad long-term investment for business owners, not because I'm biased as a website designer, but because they trap you into retainers, can't grow with you, and leave you unable to manage your own site. I also share a personal story about using AI as a brainstorming tool for a friend's website outside my niche and how I took that inspiration into Squarespace to actually build it out. At the end, I leave you with the key questions to ask before hiring anyone to design your website.
What I Talked About
Why AI websites all look the same (and okay, I have a style too)AI-built sites aren't designed to grow with your businessWhy a stagnant website hurts your SEOWhy all-in-one software is never the best optionHow clients get locked into retainers they never neededHow I used AI as a brainstorming tool, then built the actual site in SquarespaceThe questions you should ask before hiring a website designer
