Gililland, MD to discuss some of his recent articles published in the Journal of Arthroplasty. A Multilingual Chatbot Can Effectively Engage Arthroplasty Patients Who Have Limited English Proficiency – this study was conducted to evaluate whether a multilingual chatbot could effectively engage LEP patients and improve their outcome after total joint. Decreased Patellar Fractures and Subluxation With Patellar Component Replacement at Stage-One Spacer – Because periprosthetic joint infection is a devastating complication of total knee arthroplasty and often treated with 2-stage revision, we retrospectively assessed in this study whether replacing the patellar component with articulating stage-one spacers was associated with improved outcomes compared to spacers without patellar component replacement. Motivations and Barriers for Women Orthopaedic Surgeons Considering Arthroplasty Fellowship – With arthroplasty being one of the least gender-diverse orthopaedic subspecialties and very few studies conducted to understand decisions for or against arthroplasty specifically, we thought that with this study it would be important to look into fellowship choice by women as that’s a very critical step in the process of increasing women recruitment. In this special episode of The Journal of Arthroplasty’s: The Cut, Kimberly K. Tucker, MD and Elizabeth G. Lieberman, MD spoke with experts Antonia F. Chen, MD, MBA and Michael A. Mont, MD about an international delphi study on wound closure and dressing management for both total knee and total hip joint arthroplasty. The study consisted of 20 orthopaedic surgeons from both Europe and North America. A consensus was achieved after three rounds of anonymous voting which required at least 75% agreement. The study was birth from the recognition that very little and certainly not a lot of great literature currently exists on wound management and dressing.
