In this episode of the Meadow Podcast, Mike Townsend speaks with Tori Armbrust, founder of Satori Farms and one of Oregon’s licensed psilocybin mushroom growers, about cultivating mushrooms, building a business in a new industry, and what psychedelics can teach us about consciousness and perspective. Tori shares her journey from foraging chanterelles to building a mushroom education business and eventually becoming a licensed grower. She discusses the challenges of navigating Oregon’s emerging psilocybin industry, including finding property, licensing, and facing roughly 75 rejections along the way. Mike and Tori explore what goes into growing and testing mushrooms for Oregon’s legal program, including potency, different varieties, and the role of anecdotal experience and placebo. The conversation also moves into the deeper questions around psychedelic experiences. Tori reflects on how mushrooms changed her relationship with death, while Mike and Tori discuss perspective, attention, autopilot, time, and how psychedelics can shift the way we see ourselves and the world. They also touch on natural vs. synthetic psychedelics, psychedelic education, raising children around conversations about mushrooms, and the future of Oregon’s legal psilocybin program. If you’re interested in psychedelics, mushroom cultivation, consciousness, or Oregon’s legal psilocybin program, this episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at the industry and a thoughtful conversation about seeing life differently. _ References & Suggested Reading / Listening: → Satori Farms - Tori Armbrust’s licensed psilocybin mushroom farm and cultivation business in Oregon.  https://www.satorifarmspdx.com/   → Journeys - documentary exploring Oregon’s legal psilocybin program, including service centers, facilitators, growers, and testing labs. In this episode of the Meadow Podcast, Mike Townsend speaks with Anne Harris, a licensed therapist and psilocybin facilitator, about trauma, nervous system regulation, psychotherapy, and psychedelic-assisted healing. They explore how modern life drives chronic stress and emotional dysregulation, and why lasting healing often requires both clinical insight and embodied awareness. Anne shares her path from trauma therapy and social work into psilocybin facilitation, including how motherhood and postpartum mental health reshaped her understanding of urgency, regulation, and healing. She reflects on her first psilocybin experience and how it created shifts that felt comparable to years of traditional therapy. Mike and Anne discuss EMDR, how trauma is stored in the nervous system, and why preparation and integration are critical to psychedelic work. They also explore non-directive facilitation, what it means to hold space, and how healing can emerge through presence rather than intervention. The conversation also touches on modern burnout, information overload, and the loss of ritual in everyday life. They reflect on “optimization vs ritual,” and how small practices of slowing down can restore grounding and meaning in an overstimulated world. If you’re interested in trauma healing, nervous system regulation, EMDR, or psilocybin-assisted therapy, this episode offers a clear and grounded conversation on how we navigate healing in a modern context. In this episode of the Meadow Podcast, hosts Mike Townsend and Dr. Tracy Kim Townsend, MD explore stress, trauma, consciousness, and human potential through a grounded lens. They unpack how modern life keeps us stuck in chronic stress states, why our nervous systems become dysregulated, and how our relationship to pain, identity, and meaning shapes our experience of suffering. They discuss the difference between pain and suffering, how trauma lives in the nervous system, and why many of our modern stressors are psychological rather than physical. Mike and Tracy also explore dopamine, addiction loops, and the “Plenty Paradox” — why having more can sometimes leave us feeling worse — and how seeking challenge and discomfort may be key to recalibrating our system. The conversation expands into psychedelics as a tool for identity-level change, how psilocybin may support both mental and physical healing, and why these experiences can act as catalysts for reconnecting with awareness, purpose, and deeper consciousness. They also reflect on spirituality, ego dissolution, and the conditions that lead people toward profound transformation. If you’re curious about trauma healing, stress regulation, consciousness, or how psychedelics and intentional practices can unlock human potential, this episode offers a thought-provoking and expansive conversation. — References & Suggested Reading / Listening: → Waking Up App — meditation and mindfulness guidance by Sam Harris → The Body Keeps the Score — by Bessel van der Kolk → Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma — by Peter A.
