I am joined by my friend Henk from Crispi Aus-NZ to talk about the changes to the Crispi lineup for 2026. Henk very kindly provided me with a pair of the Futura PWR to use in NZ earlier this year and after spending a month in them on 3 seperate hunts I am keeping them. There may be some new products coming out and I'm advocating for a line of boots for female hunters but if you do have smaller feet, definitely look at the Future CX. As you all know, I've become a big fan of the many uses the Walk N Stalk Carbon+ bar offers on my hunting trips. My good friend Paul joins me to share his intimate knowledge as both a Paramedic and backcountry hunter, around what a first aid kit will look like for backpack hunting. We are working on developing a spreadsheet with a suggested list of items and there will be updates on this via my social media. CAVEAT: The views expressed in this podcast do not represent the official position of any state based ambulance service and only act as a guide as it does not take into account the circumstances of individuals. I also chat with Rod Bickerton from Pen Elegance about the unique pens he is making - which by the way would be perfect for Father's Day! I have one and get alot of comments on it. See what Rod can do for you with whatever pen you have in mind; www.penelegance.com - 0424 944 017. Rich from 'Shift Focus' joins me to discuss supplements that could be advantageous for the backcountry hunter - from energy, focus, stamina, sleep and recovery. The company is founded by first responders and Rich himself is a backcountry hunter. Shift Focus also produces 'Fuel & Repair' a creatine & collagen mixture and we discuss the potential advantages that this may offer. I know that after my month long trip to NZ I'm going to give it a go and see if my knees appreciate me for it. As a special gift to podcast listeners, the team at Shift Focus are offering podcast listeners a special code for 10% off and free shipping - listen in to find out what that code is. 4 of us ventured into the NZ west coast wilderness to hunt a tahr ballot block. This was my first time hunting with Jesse and Brando and I don't think I've ever laughed as much. We all got tested - physically, mentally and logistically. Despite some really challenging times, we all came out the other side of it and were planning our trip back before we'd even finished the chopper ride. I really want to thank everyone that has reached out to me so far with questions and comments. I learnt alot on this trip and will be making some changes to gear and ensuring I do some maintenance. Thinking about doing a similar trip? Come and join me on one of my Backpack Hunting Fundamentals course. Book through the Nature's Perks website. With a massive thanks to Glen Thurston from @MentalHunts we were taken into an amazing NZ backcountry location to chase Chamois. From the experience of the chopper ride to the wind storm, gear failures, physical challenges and a missed shot we had just about one of everything on this trip. It was an absolute honour to be hosted by Glen and spend time in the mountains with the 'Thurstonator'. Also a big shout out to our buddy Craig for coming along and making this trip even more enjoyable. Stay tuned because the hunts continue... Direct from my hotel room in New Zealand, I run through all the gear I've brought on this trip in the hope it helps me be successful and I don't freeze to death. We are on the countdown for our BIG New Zealand trip and I chat with Lawson about some of the decisions, prep and purchases he's made in getting ready for his first backpacking style hunting trip. We leave on April 22 and will be recording more episodes in the field to keep you in the loop on how we go. I also chat with the creator of Magnus Clip - a very useful tool for those that use rangefinders and need ready access to them. Ever dreamed of hunting in Alaska...me too. Ever dreamed of getting chomped on by a grizzly....me neither - but in this episode I chat with Tyler who was out hunting with his father and had a life changing bear encounter. Thankfully (and obviously) he lived and is able to tell us all about it. Not only that but he's turned this into a positive and is helping others to not become bear poop. Hi team, welcome to the first episode for 2026. In this episode I chat with James about using mountain bikes for a backcountry hunt in the Alpine National Park. We cover off on some of the difficulties he experienced with this form of backcountry transport and some of the benefits. James also passes on some tips for anyone looking to give this a try but if you'd like to see some pics from their trip check out his instagram; @james5platt If you are interested in the Walk N Stalk Game Bar Carbon+ bundle then head over to their website and use code ABH15 for 15% off or use this link; walknstalkstore.com/AHB15 Don't forget to check out my podcast partners; Guntraders.com.au NaturesPerks.com.au

This podcast brings together a coalition of independent podcast hosts from across Australia to engage in a measured, evidence-based discussion on the proposed changes to legal firearms ownership laws in Australian states. We begin by acknowledging the horrific atrocities that have prompted renewed public debate. We extend our sincerest condolences to all victims, families, and communities affected. Their loss is profound, and it deserves both respect and seriousness in how policy responses are considered. Across a large portion of the Australian public, there is clear agreement on one central point: law-abiding firearms owners are not responsible for acts of terrorism or violent extremism. The hosts united in this discussion contend that altering existing firearms laws would not have prevented the actions of determined terrorist extremists, who by definition operate outside legal and regulatory frameworks. Within this podcast, these issues—and many others—are examined in depth. Together, the hosts seek to present a unified message of solidarity, advocating for rational policy, accountability, and integrity in public discourse. This is a refusal to accept scapegoating in place of confronting genuine governmental and procedural failings, and a call for solutions that are grounded in facts rather than fear. This is not a culture war monologue; it’s a plan built on unity and calm persistence. We ask listeners to act locally, communicate clearly, and check on their mates. If you care about hunting, target shooting, conservation, or simply fair process, this conversation gives you the words and the steps to make a difference right now. If this resonated, share it with a mate, sign the petitions, and send your email today. Subscribe for follow‑ups and wins, and leave a review so more Aussies can find this conversation. Thanks for all your support in 2025 - Tobias.

It didn't take me long to realise after I started chatting to Rob that we would be able to talk for ages. What started out as an invite to chat about the children's book he's written "I am a Deer Hunter" turned into touching on just about everything else. A passionate and, self-described, late onset hunter, Rob and I go down a few rabbit holes but eventually get around to chatting about the book. Having read it myself, this is something I wish I'd had when my kids were little. The book (and future releases) are available through the website; thevenisondiplomat.com.au or via Amazon. Copies are also popping up in some gun shops and other places. After my hunt last year where I integrated a packraft to help us access some public land, I was inundated with enquiries and questions. Well, I've finally been able to get Ryan from Packraft Australia on the show to share everything he helped me with and more. If you're at all curious about using a packraft then tune in and feel free to contact Ryan afterwards to chat more. @packraftaustralia packraftaustralia.com.au I also chat with Kurt from Walk-n-Stalk about his intuitively designed 'sticks' that help hunters with everything from hiking, shooting, glassing, filming, butchering, checking for crocs and so much more. In this episode I sit down with Jason (@liquidantler) and we catch up so I can hear about hunting Sika in NZ. Jason is kind of obsessed about them and was lucky enough to get two hunts in this year - one of which he won through 'The Hunting Club'. Anyone interested in trying their luck at a Sika should listen in to the tips provided by someone who has hunted them for a while. After chatting with him I'm hoping this is something I can make happen in 2026. I also chat with Steve from Voortrekka Australia who rose up to meet a challenge of creating a better travel bag for his gear. Calling it a travel bag seems an oversimplification because it's an intuitive design that was made to make packing easy, gear accessible, and organisation effortless.
