Fleury-d’Aude, a town on France’s Mediterranean coast, plans to make its town-owned Rive d’Aude campground entirely naturist in 2028. The mayor sees naturist tourism as a way to compete with larger campgrounds offering pools and waterslides. The conversion would restore a naturist camping option in the area, though some longtime campers oppose the change and want a section kept for clothed visitors. More at www dot planetnude dot co. Hooksiel’s naturist camping area has closed after a campaign to preserve it fell short, ending a tradition maintained by the Naturistenbund Wilhelmshaven-Friesland since 1952. The campground will reopen in 2027 without its FKK section, while the club has voted to dissolve and members are making plans to visit other naturist destinations. The loss reflects growing economic pressures on Germany’s traditional naturist infrastructure, even as the nearby nude beach remains open. More at www dot planetnude dot co. This is a public episode. Naturists at Spain’s Playa de Cantarriján are challenging a regional government report opposing signs that would explain the beach’s longstanding nudist tradition. The local association argues that advance notice could reduce tensions between nude and clothed visitors without restricting access. The dispute raises a familiar question for Spain’s naturist beaches: how do you preserve an established nude culture while keeping the shoreline open to everyone? More at www dot planetnude dot co. The Naturist Society Foundation has announced it will close at the end of 2026, bringing more than four decades of naturist advocacy, education, and publishing to a close. Founded by Lee Baxandall in 1980, The Naturist Society helped connect the American free-beach movement, supported generations of naturist gatherings, and published N magazine, one of the movement’s most influential publications. Its closure marks a significant loss for American naturism and raises important questions about preserving its legacy. More at www dot planetnude dot co. This is a public episode. A Catalan woman is challenging police after officers confronted her for swimming nude at Cap de Bol and later followed her home to demand identification. The municipality points to a separate beach designated for naturism, but its published rules do not appear to prohibit nudity where the incident occurred. The dispute now turns on a basic question: if nudity is supposedly banned there, where is the law that says so? More at www dot planetnude dot co. This is a public episode. August’s nude news stretches from crowded clothing-optional beaches in Oregon and costly boundary mistakes in Sardinia to increased patrols beside Belgium’s naturist shore. Elsewhere, Detroit’s Naked Adventure Club offers a glimpse at a younger model of organized naturism, a Florida steakhouse experiments with clothing-optional dining, and one very small topless streaker becomes an unexpectedly large controversy. It’s another month of bodies, beaches, boundaries, and the strange ways nudity keeps finding its way into the news. More at www dot planetnude dot co. This is a public episode. Grand Lido Negril has reopened after nearly ten months of hurricane-related closure, restoring one of the Caribbean’s few dedicated naturist resorts. The boutique property remains part of Royalton’s larger Negril complex and Marriott’s Autograph Collection, making it a rare example of an explicitly clothing-free resort operating inside a major international hotel network. A North Carolina bill would make repeat indecent exposure a felony and require sex-offender registration, dramatically increasing the consequences of a law that does not require prosecutors to prove sexual intent. The proposal does not create a new prohibition on nonsexual nudity, but for naturists it raises the stakes of an existing statute whose reach is already unusually broad. Around 500 people cycled through Berlin naked or partially clothed on Sunday in what organizers describe as the first World Naked Bike Ride in a major German city permitted to proceed with complete nudity. After years of bans and clothing requirements elsewhere in Germany, Berlin organizers succeeded by making naturism itself central to the demonstration. More at www dot planetnude dot co. A monthly naturist swim that had operated continuously for forty-four years has been suspended following a change in management at Northampton's public pool.
