Inside the Aligned Sanctuary Retreat: What Happens When Women Slow Down at Home
2026/10/07
Click here to send Lisa a message.  This week I'm joined by my right-hand woman (well... technically my left-hand woman), Maggie Kitch, for a behind-the-scenes look at our very first Aligned Sanctuary women's retreat. Eight women, three days, and a home that was prepared with so much intention to hold them. The retreat sold out in just three weeks, and the group ranged from moms in their 30s with young kids to a beautiful woman who had just celebrated her 80th birthday. We talk about how this whole idea bubbled up for me after nine busy months of book promotion, why I chose to host it in my own home, and the simple way I prepared my space before anyone walked through the door. You'll also hear our favorite moments, a couple of hiccups we sailed through (including a last-minute presenter swap under a full moon), and one woman's powerful realization about the color of her bedroom and her sleep. In this episode, you'll learn: Why I scheduled slow, unhurried planning time every week leading up to the retreat, and why I'll do it for every event from now onHow I prepared my home to welcome guests: fresh air, a thorough space clearing, and setting an intention for every roomEasy ways to prepare your own space before hosting a holiday gathering, game night, or girls' weekendWhat "flow time" is and why it became one of the most-loved parts of the weekendHow the color of a bedroom can quietly affect your sleepWhat we learned, what we'd tweak, and what's coming next for spring 2027Special thanks to our retreat experts: Jen Heller of Homes That HealLindsay Fruchey, who led our intuitive watercolor experience and the creator of the Magic of Earth card deck. Meli Nubek and Maggie Kitch of the Celestial Curiosities podcast  Want to join the next retreat? How to Refresh Your Home Without Buying Anything New: 7 Easy Feng Shui Tips (Listener Favorite)
2026/09/30
Click here to send Lisa a message.  This week I'm re-sharing a listener favorite, and honestly, it's one I needed to hear again myself. You don't have to spend a single dollar to make your home feel new. Sometimes the most powerful shifts come from rearranging, editing, and simply seeing your space with fresh eyes. I start with the "fresh eyes" exercise I use with so many of my clients (it's also in my book, Aligned at Home), then show you how to shop your own home before you ever think about shopping in a store. From there I walk through seven simple Feng Shui refresh ideas, like rearranging furniture to change the flow of energy, swapping decor between rooms, clearing one surface completely, and creating a calm reset corner. And stay until the end for my favorite bonus: the practice of moving 27 things when you're feeling stuck or stagnant. It's simple, it's free, and you might be surprised at how renewed your home feels.   My book, Aligned at Home: https://www.purelivingwithlisamorton.com/book.html Join the Aligned at Home Collective: https://www.purelivingwithlisamorton.com/collective.html Send me a topic request on Instagram: @fengshuilivingpodcast     Support the show Thanks so much for listening to Feng Shui Living! Decluttering for ADHD Brains: Body Doubling, Doom Baskets & Making Peace with Your Home (with guest Stacey Hudson)
2026/09/23
Click here to send Lisa a message.  I have been counting down the days for this one. Today I'm joined by my podcasting friend Stacey Hutson, host of The Next Phase Podcast — a show for ADHD moms entering perimenopause who are looking for less information and more peace. Stacey is a longtime podcaster, former advertising copywriter, wellness chef, and food blogger, and she lives in Golden, Colorado with her husband, two daughters, a dog, and a cat. We get into a lot in this one. Stacey walks me through the remodel her family went through after their kitchen and newly finished basement both flooded — and the insurance fight that came with it. From there, we talk about what actually got her decluttering after years of researching how to do it: a line from decluttering coach Dana K. White that reframed the whole thing — decluttering not to impress anyone, but so her home would stop holding her back. Stacey also breaks down why decluttering can look so different for an ADHD brain. It's rarely a lack of information — it's the doing. She shares her go-to tool, body doubling (working alongside someone else, even virtually, to actually get something done), plus her own honest, funny systems: doom baskets, timing herself, even filming herself decluttering her closet to make the process feel less overwhelming. We also talk about the emotional side of belongings — the boxes and bags we can't seem to let go of, and why it's okay to keep some things, too. If you've ever felt frozen staring at a junk drawer or a closet that's been quietly stressing you out, this episode is for you. Stacey is gifting listeners a video of her decluttering one of her own doom baskets in 20 minutes flat — body doubling in action. Find the link in this week's newsletter, or head to Stacy's Instagram @stacehutson.   Support the show Thanks so much for listening to Feng Shui Living! 5 Feng Shui Bedroom Rules I'm Willing to Break (And the One I'm Not)
2026/09/16
Click here to send Lisa a message. I've been sitting on this episode for a while now, it’s one of those topics that keeps circling around in my head until I finally have to sit down and get it out. Today it's the master bedroom, and I'm walking you through five feng shui rules: which ones I'm genuinely willing to bend for a client's real life, and the one I hold firm on no matter what. Before we get into the rules themselves, I share a little bit about my own history with perfectionism… from struggling to get ready for school as a teenager, all the way to a very expensive hand-tufted carpet lesson during my private aircraft design days. It's the reason I don't believe in "good feng shui" versus "bad feng shui." I believe in a sliding scale and in releasing the pressure to get it exactly right. Here's what we cover in the master bedroom: The bed in the command position — bendable, sort of. New construction is making this harder than ever, and I'll tell you what to do if your bed can't avoid lining up with the door.Headboard against a solid wall — bendable. What to do when your only option is putting the bed in front of a window (including a real fix from a very oddly shaped bedroom of mine in Willoughby, Ohio).Matching nightstands and lamps — bendable, with one important caveat about proportion. Plus a client story about mismatched nightstands mirroring a mismatched relationship.Mirrors facing the bed — holding firm. This is one of the most consistent disruptors of restful sleep I see, and I'll give you a few real options if you can't remove it.No exercise equipment, desks, or screens in the primary bedroom — mostly holding firm, with a practical workaround for smaller homes, condos, and RVs. None of this is about getting your bedroom "right." It's about noticing your specific space and working with how you actually live in it. If this resonates, I'd love to have you join me in the Aligned at Home Collective — my monthly membership group, meeting the first Wednesday of every month from 7–8pm ET. Reach out for a free first month. Prefer to go deeper one-on-one? You can also book a free 15-minute discovery call — link in the show notes. It's Never About the Remodel: What Your Renovation Requests Are Really Telling You
2026/09/09
Click here to send Lisa a message. Over the past 20+ years of walking into homes as a designer and feng shui master teacher, I've noticed something that happens almost every single time. Someone calls me about their kitchen, their primary bedroom, or their basement, and within the first 20 minutes of really talking it through, that room starts to disappear. What comes forward instead is something so much bigger. In this episode, I'm sharing three real client stories that taught me this lesson over and over again. One couple asked for new cabinets and countertops, and what we uncovered was a marriage that had gone quiet, and a dining table that brought them back together. Another woman wanted her primary bedroom redone, and what we found was a woman who had spent years giving everyone else in her home the nicer things while she quietly went without. And a couple who wanted their basement finished ended up finally having the money conversation they'd been avoiding for years. None of this is about being dishonest with yourself. A remodel is often the most acceptable way to ask for something deeper — connection, rest, self-worth, or the permission to finally talk about what's really going on. I'll walk you through each story, and I'll leave you with a journal prompt of your own: what's a space in your home you keep saying you want to fix, and when you picture it the way you want it to feel, not look, what's actually missing? If this episode stirs something up for you, I'd love to talk it through. You can grab one of my free 15-minute discovery calls through the link below. Celebrating Year 3, Kicking off Year 4
2026/09/02
Click here to send Lisa a message. Can you believe it? We're closing out year three of Feng Shui Living and stepping into year four, and I'm celebrating by bringing back one of my favorite people for this milestone episode: trained astrologer, dear friend, and my right hand behind the scenes, Maggie Kitch. In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain a little. I'm sharing where the podcast has grown to (over 71,000 downloads, if you can believe it, with nearly double the growth this year alone), the surprising city that leads my listenership (hint: it's not the one you'd guess), and which episodes and client stories really resonated with you this year. We also revisit some of my most-loved client stories, including a little girl's neon bedroom that was accidentally recreating hospital energy, and a home wrapped top to bottom in plastic sheeting that needed far more than a deep clean. Maggie pulled up my astrology chart from the very first day I hit record back in August 2023 and compared it to right now, and what she found about the year ahead genuinely gave me chills, especially with the timing lining up right before my Aligned Sanctuary Retreat this September. Plus, I'm sharing a peek at what's ahead in year four, including new guest episodes and my upcoming Feng Shui Basics course this fall. Thank you for three amazing years. Here's to closing this chapter well and diving into year four together. Fire Horse Year Check-In: What to Carry Into Fall
2026/08/26
Click here to send Lisa a message.  As we move out of a fiery summer, I wanted to take a moment to check in on this Chinese year of the fire horse. It's been the boldest, most decisive energy we've seen in a while.  In this episode, I'm sharing what this year has looked like for me… from an unexpected book tour through Canada to the Aligned Sanctuary Retreat filling all eight spots in just three weeks. I'm also sharing a few client stories that capture that same fast-moving, no-hesitation energy. A client who took a job she said she had "no business applying for," a couple who sold their home without ever listing it, and a client who ended a relationship and moved to a new city, all within weeks. Then we shift into the practical part: three journal prompts to help you reflect on where fire has shown up for you this year (in good ways, and in "too much" ways), plus a few simple tips for grounding down as we move into the earth energy of late summer and the metal energy of fall. Organizing for Calm: A Wellness-First Approach to Your Home with Ashley Murphy of NEAT Method
2026/08/19
Click here to send Lisa a message.   Today I'm joined by Ashley Murphy, co-founder and CEO of NEAT Method and author of The NEAT Method Organizing Recipe Book. Ashley started her career as an in-home personal trainer, and it was there that she first noticed something surprising: a client's disorganized space could quietly undo the progress they were making everywhere else. That observation eventually grew into a national organizing brand with a community behind it that she's incredibly proud of. We talk about why the kitchen (not the closet) tends to be the biggest source of stress in a home, why she never recommends buying bins and baskets first, and the simple mindset shift — renaming your "junk drawer" — that can change how you feel about a space entirely. If you've ever felt like your home is working against you instead of for you, this conversation is for you. In this episode: How a personal training client taught Ashley that a disorganized home was affecting more than just her spaceWhy the kitchen and primary bedroom hold the most stress in a homeThe "quick win" to try before you buy a single organizing productMeasuring your "prime real estate" before you buy bins or basketsWhat The NEAT Method Organizing Recipe book is really teachingHow a side hustle grew into a 100+ market organizing communityLinks mentioned: NEAT Method: https://neatmethod.com/The NEAT Method Organizing Recipe book: https://neatmethod.com/products/bookJoin the Aligned at Home Collective: https://www.purelivingwithlisamorton.com/collective.html  Support the show Thanks so much for listening to Feng Shui Living! My 4-Part Method for a Bedroom That Feels Like a Retreat
2026/08/05
Click here to send Lisa a message.  Your bedroom should be the room you can't wait to walk into at the end of the day, not just another room on your to-do list. In this episode, I'm sharing my simple four-part method for creating a bedroom that actually feels like a retreat: starting with the foundation of your bed, layering with intention, choosing colors and textures that calm your nervous system, and finishing with the small details that make it feel unmistakably yours. These aren't big renovations. They're small, doable shifts you can start this week, whether you're craving a little more softness in your everyday or just ready for better sleep.   Support the show Thanks so much for listening to Feng Shui Living! How My Virtual Work Actually Works (Consultations + Space Clearings)
2026/07/29
Click here to send Lisa a message.  I get two questions all the time: “Lisa, how can you possibly help me if you’ve never set foot inside my home?” and “Wait, how does an energetic space clearing even work from far away?” In this episode I’m pulling back the curtain on both sides of my virtual work. First, I walk you through how a remote consultation actually happens. I share a story about a client in Savannah, Georgia, and how a floor plan, a few photos, and about 25 minutes together on Zoom told me almost everything I needed to know about her home, and her finances, before she said even a word. Then I go even deeper into distance space clearing itself. I’ll explain what it actually is, why I believe (and have seen) that it can be even more powerful than an in-person clearing, and I’ll share a story involving a gong that still gives me chills. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to work with Lisa, but I’m not local,” this episode is for you. Location has never been a barrier to either a consultation or a clearing, and I want you to understand exactly why. Also in this episode: I share an update on the Aligned Sanctuary retreat — it’s officially sold out, but there’s still a way to get on the list.   Support the show Thanks so much for listening to Feng Shui Living! 5 Ways to Regain Control of Your Home This Summer
2026/07/22
Click here to send Lisa a message. Have you ever walked into your home this summer and just... stopped? Not because anything's wrong exactly, but because it feels like chaos. Shoes multiplying by the door, mail piling up on the counter, half-empty water bottles on every surface. If that's you, I want you to hear me say this: it's so normal for this season of life. Summer connects to the fire element in Feng Shui, high energy, in and out the door, schedules that change every single day. Of course your home reflects that. In this episode, I'm sharing five simple, doable ways to regain control of your home this summer. No major cleaning day, no overhaul, no remodel required. In this episode, I cover: Why trying to fix the whole house at once leads to freezing instead of progress, and how to pick just one zone to startHow to create a landing pad for keys, sunglasses, and everything else that comes in the door with youThe two-minute fresh air reset that shifts both the feel and the energy of your homeA five to ten minute nightly surface clear ritual that changes how your whole morning feelsHow to notice when a system that worked for another season no longer fits where you are nowThis is a short and sweet one you can come back to anytime you're feeling overwhelmed. Ask Lisa: Attract Abundance, Break Free From Stuck Energy, and Blend Styles With Your Partner
2026/07/15
Click here to send Lisa a message. I'm back in the mailbag this week, answering three of your favorite kinds of questions, the raw, real-life ones. But first, I have to share something that filled my cup completely. Recently, I went home to my hometown for a talk and got to hug two of my elementary school teachers and reconnect with my very first friend, Wendy, who surprised me in the crowd. It was one of those days I'll hold onto for a long time. Going home to celebrate and share something I'm so proud of may have made my year! Then we dive into your questions: Adrienne wants to know how to bring more money and abundance into her home and life. I share my favorite way to start (a little everyday luxury), plus how to find and activate your wealth and abundance corner using the Bagua map.Marta is feeling frozen and stuck and wants to know what to do first. I walk her through a simple visualization to find the one thing that's holding her back.Jill asked one I hear all the time: how do you create a home that works for two people who like completely different things? I share my favorite tricks for blending styles.Whether you're craving more abundance, feeling stuck, or navigating decor with a partner who sees things differently, this episode has a little something for you. Why Your Organized Home Still Feels Chaotic (with Julianna Strickland)
2026/07/08
Click here to send Lisa a message.  I've talked a lot on this podcast about how our homes hold energy, but this week I wanted to bring in someone who sees it from a completely different angle: functional systems. My guest, Julianna Strickland, is the creator of Space Camp Home Organizing. She's organized thousands of homes, and what she shared completely lines up with what I see energetically... a space can look clean on the surface and still feel completely off, because it isn't actually functioning for the life you're living. We talked about why so many organizing systems fall apart within a few weeks, the difference between a space that looks good and one that actually supports you, and why buying bins before you measure your space (guilty!) is one of the most common mistakes people make. A few of my favorite moments from our conversation: Why a "clean" room can still be quietly stressing out your brainThe 20% rule — why leaving breathing room in a drawer or closet is what actually makes a system stickJulianna's simple trick for measuring your space using your phoneWhy you should get donations out of the house immediately, not "eventually"How to figure out what belongs in your easy-to-reach spaces vs. your hard-to-reach onesIf you've ever organized a space, only to watch it fall back into chaos a month later, this episode will help you understand why — and what to do instead.
