This week, we are teaching Exodus 17:8-15. Moses, the leader of God’s people, was helped by his brother Aaron and another man named Hur. During a battle, the Israelites started winning every time Moses held his hands and staff in the air. When he grew tired, Aaron and Hur brought Moses a stone to sit on, and they held up his hands. God worked through their help and support to lead God’s people to victory in a battle. Moses, Aaron, and Hur show how people are better together. We will teach preschoolers and kids from Psalm 103 this week, which is a song written by King David to celebrate God’s compassion and grace. Grace is undeserved love given to people by God. David reminded us that God’s love and forgiveness are undeserved yet freely given to those who trust Him. We will help preschoolers and kids see that experiencing God’s grace changes us from the inside out and gives us a fresh start. This week, we will help preschoolers and kids learn that God gives them hope. We will teach that hope means trusting that something good will happen and that God gives us hope! Our Bible story comes from Numbers 21, when God’s people complained and were punished with venomous snakes. God told Moses to make and mount a bronze snake on a pole so anyone who looked at it would be healed. Later, Jesus said that just as God’s people looked to the snake for healing, we can look to Him for forgiveness for our sin. This week, we will teach preschoolers and kids about Peter and Jesus. Before Jesus died on a cross, Peter denied knowing Jesus. But after Jesus rose from the dead, He sought Peter out and invited him to share the love of Jesus with others. Peter didn’t earn forgiveness; Jesus freely gave it. This week, we will teach preschoolers and kids that God can forgive us. Our Bible story from Mark 2 and Luke 5 is about a lame man whose friends carried him to Jesus. Before healing the man, Jesus forgave the lame man’s sins because forgiveness was his greatest need. After Jesus forgave the man, He also healed him! We have been teaching preschoolers and kids that God values them. In this last week of Wild and Wonderful andVIP, we will teach that God sent Jesus for us. In Ephesians 2:1-10, Paul wrote a letter to Christians living in the city of Ephesus. He wrote a reminder that Christians are dead in our sin because sin separates us from God. But because God sent Jesus, everyone who trusts and follows Him gets to have new life in Him both now and forever. Preschoolers and kids will learn that rescue from sin through Jesus is the greatest gift. Our Bible story this week is from Genesis 1:26–2:25 and will help preschoolers and kids learn that God made them on purpose. God created the world and everything in it. He made people unique and different because people are the only ones in God's creation who are made in His image. Preschoolers and kids can know that they are not an accident—God made them on purpose too. We are special and valuable not because of what we do but because of who God is and how He made us. This week we will teach preschoolers and kids that God seeks and celebrates us. Jesus told a story about a lost son in Luke 15. This son demanded his inheritance from his father before leaving and spending the money on foolish living. Once the money was gone, a famine devastated the land. The son found himself broke, alone, and hungry. He decided to return home and beg his father to make him like one of the servants. However, when the son was far from home, his father saw him and hurried to welcome him home. Later, Jesus told people that He came to seek and save the lost. Preschoolers and kids will learn that God seeks us when we are far from Him and celebrates when we discover a forever relationship with Him through Jesus. We get to teach preschoolers and kids that God made them with worth. In our Bible story from Matthew 19 and Mark 10, people brought children to Jesus, hoping He would bless them. However, the disciples tried to stop it from happening. When Jesus saw this, He became indignant. Jesus invited the children to come to Him, saying that the kingdom of God belongs to them. Preschoolers and kids will learn that God made them with worth! They don’t have to wait to grow up—God sees, knows, loves, and values them right here and now. We have a special Hooray Day in preschool and Game Changer in kids this week where we will pump up the energy and have deep and intentional discussions about celebrating that Jesus changes the game in our lives. Our Main Idea this week is God Leads me to Know Him in preschool and God Leads Me to True Identity in kids. In Psalm 139, King David wrote that God made him on purpose, and he praised God for making him remarkable and special. God made David to know Him and have a relationship with Him. God made us to know Him and have a relationship with Him too. God sent Jesus, making the way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to live the way He created us to live. Our Bible story this week will teach preschoolers and kids that we can love like Jesus. In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus taught that people who love and follow Him are to love differently. They are to love when it costs them something, even when they are not shown love and kindness in return. Jesus taught that they should even love their enemies. Jesus is our example of how to love. Kids and preschoolers will learn that loving like Jesus looks like loving all people—including and especially our enemies. It is not always easy, but God helps us love differently. In our Bible story from Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus told His listeners not to worry but to remember how God provides for His creation. God loves and cares for us more than the birds in the sky or flowers in the fields. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus for us. We can remember how God has provided for us in the past and choose to trust Him in the present and with our future. Our Bible story this week is from Matthew 5:38-42; 6:1-4,19-24. Jesus taught what it means to honor God by serving others. In this Bible passage, Jesus explained that we are called to choose kindness over anger and to care about people, even when we do not think they deserve it. We get to teach preschoolers and kids that God made us to serve because we love God, not because we want the praise of others. Jesus is the greatest example of what it means to serve because He came to serve us. This week we are teaching preschoolers and kids that they are designed for a purpose and part of that purpose and plan is to live like Jesus. In Matthew 7:24-29, Jesus explained that when we listen to Him and do what He says, we are like the builder who built his house on the rock—the strong foundation. Winds and storms will come, but the house stands strong because it is built on the right foundation. Jesus calls us to live like Him, and that starts with having the right foundation—a relationship with Him. While we and our world are broken because of sin, we can have hope and trust that something good will happen. Preschoolers and kids will learn this week that they need God’s hope. As we teach 1 Kings 17:8-16, kids will see how God provided for the prophet Elijah. In our Bible story, there was a famine and Elijah needed food. He trusted God to take care of him. Incredibly, God worked through a widow to provide food for Elijah in a miraculous way. We will teach preschoolers and kids that they can have hope, even in our broken world filled with challenging situations. We have an opportunity to teach kids that no matter what happens, God loves them, cares for them, and provides for them—like He did for Elijah.
