Why Beehiiv is Betting on Podcasts with Ainsley Rossitto
2026/09/29
Ainsley Rossitto is the first Head of Podcasts at Beehiiv, a publishing platform built to help creators grow and monetize their audiences. Beehiiv was founded in 2021 by Tyler Denk, an early employee at Morning Brew, and has since grown into a platform serving 60,000 newsletter writers. Unlike platforms that are increasingly trying to become destinations or social networks themselves, Beehiiv has positioned itself as the infrastructure behind creators and their audiences. This conversation covers: • What it means for Beehiiv to be an “operating system for creators” as opposed to simply a newsletter platform. • The advantages posed to creators that have a newsletter, website, subscriptions and podcast connected to each other. • What the podcast hosting landscape may look like in the next five years, and what role YouTube and video may have in that future. Why Some Organizations Need a Different Podcast Strategy with Richard Fawal and Colin Cole
2026/09/01
Richard Fawal is the Founder and CEO of Voxtopica, a podcast strategy firm focused on organizations whose success is measured by mission alignment and expansion rather than monetization. His recently developed Mission-Driven Podcast Framework argues that many podcast best practices were built for advertisers, creators, and media businesses—not nonprofits, universities, government agencies, associations, and other mission-first organizations. Joining Richard is Colin Cole, Director of Policy, Outreach, and Communications at More Equitable Democracy, an organization whose work depends on communicating complex ideas to the public and engaging the right audiences.  Today’s conversation will cover:  Richard’s six-phase framework for mission-driven podcasting. The importance of advancing a mission over maximizing monetization Why the same principles found in non-mission podcasts don’t always apply to shows that use podcasts as more than revenue generators You can find Richard @fawal, as well as Colin @colin-cole, on LinkedIn. Glenn Rubenstein on the AMP Accords
2026/08/18
Glenn Rubenstein is the founder of Adopter Media, one of podcasting's largest media buying agencies. Through Adopter, his team helps brands plan, buy, and optimize podcast advertising campaigns at significant scale. Glenn recently reacted to a proposal by the Alliance for Measurement in Podcasting (AMP), a cross-industry task force assembled to address what its members believe are some of podcasting's biggest measurement challenges in the industry's transition into video. Their proposal, a document known as The AMP Accords, was published in July 2026 and is a set of non-binding industry recommendations designed to reduce friction for advertisers and encourage broader adoption of podcast advertising. Today’s conversation will cover: What the AMP Accords hope to accomplish. Where podcasting is currently coming up short as a medium. The place of marketing in the future of podcasting. Laura Mayer on the Rise, Fall, and Reinvention of Podcasting
2026/07/21
Laura Mayer has spent her career inside the podcast machine: at WNYC, Panoply, Stitcher, Sony, ABC News, and now Talkhouse. In this conversation with Jeff Umbro, she traces the early days of podcasting, the rise and fall of network strategy, and what it really takes to build shows that people actually want to hear. Laura also reflects on Shameless Acquisition Target, the podcast that became a book and a sharp-eyed look at the business of audio. She explains how the show came out of frustration, why she made herself the butt of the joke, and what she learned from trying to turn her own career into a case study. Jeff and Laura talk through the big shifts that reshaped the industry: the rise of narrative true crime, the economics of branded content, the limits of “build it and they will come,” and why podcasting keeps reinventing itself. It’s a candid, funny, and deeply informed conversation about ambition, burnout, audience, and the future of audio. Looking for more actionable podcast strategies after today's episode?
