The New USDA Food Pyramid: What Changed and What Didn’t?
2026/01/08
The USDA’s 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines are out—and instead of reacting, we actually read them.
In this episode, we walk through what’s genuinely new, what stayed the same, and where the guidelines still fall short. We talk about the renewed emphasis on real food and protein, the continued fear of saturated fat, the missed opportunity around low-carb nutrition, and what these policies mean for schools, hospitals, and the military.
This is a grounded, honest conversation about food policy, chronic disease, and how we’re choosing to eat in the real world—without outrage, but without ignoring the contradictions either.
SNAP: How America’s Largest Food Program Reveals a Broken Food System
2025/12/17
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the largest nutrition assistance program in the United States—nearly $100 billion per year, supporting roughly 42 million Americans. But what is that money actually buying?
In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley follow Farm Bill dollars all the way to the grocery store and examine how SNAP functions in practice. They break down where the money comes from, how much goes to administration versus food purchases, and—most importantly—what categories of food dominate SNAP spending.
You’ll hear a clear breakdown of:
How SNAP fits inside the Farm Bill and why it represents 70–80% of total Farm Bill spending
Why only a small fraction of each food dollar ever reaches farmers
The difference between real food, packaged food, and junk food within SNAP purchases
Why sugar-sweetened beverages represent one of the single largest SNAP spending categories
How major food and beverage corporations benefit from the current structure
Why states are now requesting—and receiving—waivers to restrict certain SNAP purchases
The unresolved question at the heart of the debate:
Is SNAP a nutrition program, or an income supplement?
This conversation is not an attack on people who receive assistance. Rich and Shelley openly share their own family’s experience with WIC and SNAP. Instead, this episode challenges policymakers and taxpayers to ask whether the system is delivering nutrition—or simply recycling taxpayer dollars through a deeply broken food economy.
If you care about food freedom, public health, fiscal responsibility, and the future of American agriculture, this is a conversation you need to hear.
USDA Says They're Helping Farmers. They're NOT!
2025/12/11
In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley break down two major USDA announcements that, on the surface, sound like enormous wins for American farmers — a $12 billion bailout for row-crop commodity producers and a $700 million “Regenerative Agriculture Pilot Program.”
But when we follow the money, a very different picture emerges.
The big questions we unpack:
1. Who actually receives the $12B in “help”?
$11B of the bailout goes straight to commodity row-croppers — corn, soybeans, wheat, rice, cotton, and similar operations — not to regenerative farms. The other $1B to Specialty Farmers, to include sugar.
2. What’s really behind the $700M “regenerative” announcement?
Press remarks make it clear that the funding is not new money, but simply baseline EQIP and CSP dollars repackaged into a “pilot”.
Politico even had to ask where the funds came from, and USDA confirmed the truth:
“It’s baseline funding… We’re tagging that funding specifically for this pilot.”
3. Why were so many consumers excited about this?
The optimism comes from a misunderstanding:
Regenerative farmers are not receiving new support.
Row-crop agriculture is receiving the overwhelming majority of all funding.
4. Are farmers being freed… or managed?
This episode lays out why these announcements don’t create farmer sovereignty — they deepen dependence, strengthen banks and input suppliers, and maintain the systems that keep small farms struggling for air.
⭐️ IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN
Why the USDA’s $12B bridge payments overwhelmingly support industrial farming
Why the new “regenerative” program is mostly a rebrand with no new dollars
How these announcements create the illusion of helping farmers
Why most Americans think this is good news — and why it isn’t
What real farmer sovereignty would require
Why regenerative farms like Air2Ground still won’t see a cent of this money
⭐️ WHY THIS MATTERS
If Americans want healthy food, healthy land, and healthy communities, the truth must be told:
Bailouts don’t build freedom.
Rebrands don’t build regeneration.
And farmers are tired of being used for headlines.
This episode helps consumers understand what’s really happening — and why real change must start with truth, not announcements.

Small Farms Explained: Can They Feed a Nation?
2025/12/04
Can small farms actually feed America? In this conversation, we take on the question we hear all the time: “Can small farms feed the United States?” Using real numbers, real context, and our own experience running a regenerative farm, we break down what small farms can do, what they can’t do, and why both small farms and industrial agriculture play completely different but vitally important roles.
We talk about why small farms matter for community resilience, nutrition, local economies, and trust, and why they still can’t produce enough food to sustain massive population centers. As the transcript highlights, small farms simply can’t generate the volume needed to feed a city of 14 million people—but they can feed their communities incredibly well.
We also discuss how regulations limit small farm viability, and how much more local food could be produced if farmers and consumers were free to transact directly without expensive facilities or federal barriers. The conversation explores the difference between feeding America and feeding your community, and why supporting your local farmer is one of the most powerful actions you can take.
Bottom line: No, small farms can’t feed all of America—but they are absolutely essential, and they might just be the key to feeding you and your neighbors.
If you value real food, local food, and transparent food… support the people who grow it.

You’re Eating All Wrong… and It’s Not the Food!
2025/11/26
In today’s episode, we dive deep into insulin resistance, late-night eating, circadian metabolism, low-carb living, and why eating after 6pm can completely derail weight loss, energy, sleep, blood sugar, and your overall metabolic health.
Most people focus on food choices, but the science says the timing of your meals has a massive impact on insulin, glucose control, fat-burning, hormone balance, and healthy aging — especially during the holiday season when eating patterns get chaotic.
We break down:
✅ Why late-night eating raises insulin for 6–10 hours
✅ Why you can wake up insulin resistant even if you didn’t eat overnight
✅ The “dawn effect” and why morning glucose spikes get worse with age
✅ Why intermittent fasting done wrong can damage your metabolism
✅ Why skipping breakfast and eating at night is the worst pattern
✅ How nighttime carbs vs. nighttime protein vs. nighttime fat affect insulin
✅ Why older adults become more insulin resistant in the evening
✅ How meal timing affects metabolic flexibility, weight loss, and inflammation
✅ How to enjoy holiday food without wrecking your progress
✅ Why WHEN you eat may matter more than WHAT you eat
If you’ve ever wondered why low-carb or intermittent fasting sometimes “stops working”… or why mornings feel harder as you age… this episode connects the dots.
We reference research on circadian biology, glucose metabolism, aging, cortisol, insulin signaling, and the metabolic slowdown that happens at night — and how shifting your meals earlier can dramatically improve your health.
This is the missing holiday hack.
This is the metabolic reset you didn’t know you needed.
This one concept can change your health:
It’s not just WHAT you eat — it’s WHEN you eat.

What If Fat Isn't The Enemy?
2025/11/05
They told us fat would harm us — but what if that was the biggest lie in modern food history?
In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley uncover how Big Food and Big Pharma worked together to convince Americans that butter, lard, and tallow were dangerous — while pushing toxic seed oils as “heart healthy.”
You’ll Learn:
How the war on fat began in the 1950s
Why animal fats like butter, lard, and tallow are essential for health
The difference between real fats and chemically processed seed oils
How regenerative farmers are restoring real food freedom
Why flavor, satiety, and nutrition all live in the fat
This conversation isn’t just about diet — it’s about reclaiming control of our food, our health, and our freedom.

The Truth About Cheap Beef: It Was NEVER Real
2025/10/29
For decades, Americans have lived under the illusion of cheap beef — but was it ever real? In this week’s Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley of Air2Ground Farms dig into the truth behind record-high beef prices, Tyson’s $500 million beef losses, and the collapse of more than 100,000 cattle ranches across the U.S. From feed costs, foreign beef imports from Argentina, and corporate price manipulation, to the real economics of food production, they explore why beef prices are finally reflecting their true cost.
Topics include:
Why beef prices are rising while ranchers still struggle
How Tyson, Cargill, JBS, and National Beef shaped a false “cheap meat” economy
The illusion of efficiency vs. exploitation in modern food systems
How real food costs real money — and why that’s a good sign for food security
The beef market correction after Trump’s comments on Argentinian imports
The long game: heifer retention, herd rebuilding, and consumer reality checks

Skyrocketing Beef Prices | Trump's Solution is Argentina?
2025/10/22
Trump beef prices 2025, Argentina beef imports, and U.S. cattle market news are dominating the news— and this deep-dive episode digs into all of it.
President Donald Trump just said he’ll “work with Argentina to fix U.S. beef prices.” But will that lower prices, lower grocery bills — or sacrifice American ranchers? In this powerful episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich & Shelley McGlamory unpack the record-high beef prices, the shrinking U.S. herd (86.7 million head – lowest since 1951), and the politics behind importing foreign beef.
America can feed America — fix the structure, don’t import the fix.
Inside the episode:
• Intro – Trump’s “Beef Price Fix?” announcement and why it matters now
• Segment 1 – The Market Today: what record prices mean for consumers ($6–$8/lb beef)
• Segment 2 – How We Got Here: drought, feed costs, and the Tyson/Cargill price-fixing settlement ($87.5 M)
• Segment 3 – Market Motion: explaining CME feeder cattle moves without the Wall Street jargon
• Segment 4 – Argentina Import Plan: short-term band-aid vs long-term damage
• Sidebar – Brazilian Beef: tariff cuts?
• Segment 5 – Solutions: break up Big 4 packers, help to keep heifers, subsidize US beef
• Segment 6 – Reality for our farm & Call to Action

Food Emancipation Proclamation | Free Our Food!
2025/10/15
Is it really illegal to sell a pork chop you raised and processed on your own farm? In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley expose the truth behind America’s overregulated food system and why farmers like them are locked out of processing and selling their own meat. From Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle and the creation of USDA inspection to modern small-farm restrictions, this episode asks one powerful question: Who owns your food freedom?
Join Rich and Shelley as they call for a modern Food Emancipation Proclamation inspired by Joel Salatin — exploring how regulation became domination, how one-size-fits-all rules crush small processors, and why transparency and local trust should replace red tape.
Topics Covered
• The origins of America’s food regulations
• How the meat industry monopolized processing
• Why small farmers are locked out of legal direct sales
• The myth of “consumer protection” vs. real food freedom
• How social media justice and transparency could regulate the system naturally

Are You FIT Enough To Survive?
2025/10/09
What if your life depended on your ability to move your body — not in a gym, but in the real world?
In this Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley dive into functional fitness as a survival skill. They discuss what it means to be strong enough to live, not just to look fit — from carrying five-gallon buckets of water and wrestling gates to handling emergencies that demand physical capability and mental toughness.
This conversation is a wake-up call in a world where health is outsourced, convenience is king, and real strength is fading. They explore:
What “Fitness for Survival” truly means
The difference between aesthetic fitness and functional fitness
Why the farm lifestyle naturally builds resilience
The connection between physical strength, self-reliance, and freedom
How fitness ties into overall preparedness — not fear-based, but life-ready
This isn’t about chasing six-packs or personal bests. It’s about building the kind of body and mindset that can handle whatever life throws your way — from hard work to hard times.
Listen, reflect, and ask yourself: “Am I strong enough for the life I want to live?”

The MAHA Debate: Protecting Kids or Protecting Profits?
2025/10/01
North Dakota Ag Commissioner Doug Goehring says the MAHA movement is an “attack on seed oils” and a threat to farmers’ freedom. But what does the MAHA Strategy actually say?
In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, we break down:
What the Commissioner claimed about MAHA and “loss of choice.”
What the White House MAHA Strategy really says about ultra-processed foods and kids’ health.
Why framing this as an “attack” misses the point — and why defending ultra-processed foods isn’t the hill to die on.
At the end of the day, this debate comes down to one question: are we protecting kids, or protecting profits?
✦ North Dakota farmers, sunflower, and canola
✦ Ultra-processed foods and chronic disease
✦ Real freedom vs food manipulation
✦ The future of American farming and public health
Join us as we ask the tough questions: Should public health outweigh short-term economics?

What Science Just Revealed About Grass-Fed Beef
2025/09/24
What’s really the difference between grass-fed and grain-fed beef? In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, Rich and Shelley break down a groundbreaking new study that followed nutrients all the way from the soil to the steak. The results are eye-opening: grass-fed beef was shown to contain up to 5x more omega-3 fatty acids, nearly 4x more vitamin E, and significantly higher levels of antioxidants like glutathione and compared to grain-fed beef.
But what does that mean for you? We translate the science into plain English. From why omega-3s matter for heart health, to how antioxidants protect your body from oxidative stress, to what these differences could mean for chronic disease risk — we cover it all in a simple, practical way.
We also discuss the bigger picture: how regenerative farming, soil health, and diverse pastures don’t just build better beef, they build more resilient people and communities. If you’ve ever wondered whether paying extra for grass-fed is worth it, this episode is for you.

Is This Diet the Secret to Surviving Anything?
2025/09/17
In uncertain times, your body can be your backup generator by focusing on nutrition. In this episode of the Dust’er Mud Podcast, we explore why a no sugar, no grain, low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet builds personal resilience, aids in healthy eating and weight loss, and might just be America’s most resilient diet.
Keto isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about resilience. When your body becomes fat-adapted and runs on ketones instead of glucose, you gain steadier energy, fewer cravings, and the ability to thrive even if meals are delayed or food supplies are limited. We break down how ketosis works, why it reduces hunger, and how it supports brain and body performance during times of scarcity.
You’ll also hear why ditching processed carbs and sugars not only protects health but also stretches your pantry, lowers dependence on ultra-processed foods, and brings food security right into your own home. From real science to real farm life, we show why Keto is more than a diet—it’s a strategy for health and freedom.
Stay with us for practical tips, encouragement, and a new perspective on food resilience.
