Holiday Chaos, Playing the Long-Game, & What Really Matters in 2026
2025/12/24
The holidays are here, routines are messy, and motivation is unreliable — so what actually mattered this year? In this end-of-year episode of Coaches Uncut, we cut through the noise and reflect on the habits, decisions, and lessons that truly moved the needle in 2025 — across training, lifestyle, and coaching. · The habits that delivered real progress (and the ones that didn’t) · Consistency vs. intensity — and why frequency won this year · How to train through holiday chaos without burning momentum · The minimum effective dose for maintaining strength in December · Why the “January 1st reset” is mostly a myth · Common coaching mistakes we saw clients repeat in 2025 · One non-negotiable habit we’re carrying into 2026 This episode isn’t about extremes or starting over. It’s about playing the long game — building habits that survive real life, travel, stress, and the holidays. Train so your body lasts. Build habits that don’t burn you out. Progress doesn’t need to be extreme — it needs to be consistent. Please subscribe and leave us a 5 star rating and review if you liked the episode, this helps us to grow our podcast and reach others. Science-Based vs. Bro-Science Training: The Uncut Debate
2025/11/12
In this unfiltered conversation between the coaches, we dive headfirst into one of fitness’s biggest debates: science-based training vs. bro-science wisdom. From training volume and frequency to exercise selection and form, we break down what the research says — and how it actually plays out in the real world. We’ll tackle the science behind nutrition, supplements, and recovery, and share our take on when the research make sense… and when gym-floor anecdote trumps theory. Expect honest opinions, some friendly disagreement, and plenty of practical takeaways you can use in your own training — whether you’re a data-driven coach or a seasoned lifter who trusts the pump more than the paper. Topics Covered: · Science vs. bro-science approaches to training volume & frequency · Exercise selection and form: biomechanics or feel? · Nutrition & supplements: what’s hype and what’s helpful · Recovery and rest: research-backed vs. "grind mentality" · Bridging the gap between lab results and lived experience Please subscribe and leave us a 5 star rating and review if you liked the episode, this helps us to grow our podcast and reach others. 2025/10/08
For the October episode, we're diving into the frosty depths of the Winter Arc trend that's been storming social media. We give our unfiltered takes on: The psychology behind seasonal discipline Whether extreme routines actually build momentum If “Winter Arc” habits are beneficial or performative How to approach fall/winter for real fitness growth Is it time to lock in—or chill out? The Creatine Episode, A Supplement For More Than Just Muscle?
2025/08/13
In this early-August episode of Coaches Uncut, we dedicate the entire conversation to one of the most popular gym supplements that perhaps is the most studied, the safest, and the most effective for building strength and muscle mass—creatine. But there’s way more to creatine than just improving muscle mass. We begin by getting into the basics, explaining: · What creatine is and how it actually works in the body · The different types of creatine on the market (monohydrate, hydrochloride, buffered, and more)—and which ones are backed by science · How much to take, when to take it, and whether or not you really need a loading phase · The truth behind common myths—like bloating, kidney damage, or “only for bodybuilders” But we don’t stop there. We also explore emerging research showing that creatine might do more than just support performance in the gym—it could have significant cognitive and neurological benefits, from improving memory and brain function to potentially supporting mental health and aging. Whether you're a coach guiding clients, an athlete looking for an edge, or just someone who wants to separate fact from fiction, this episode is your no-fluff, science-backed guide to creatine. Velocity-Based Training, Klev/Danny's Routines, and 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla
2025/05/14
In the May episode of Coaches Uncut, we listen to Klev discuss his recent dive into the world of Velocity-Based Training (VBT)—what it is, how it works, and why it’s a game-changer for strength and performance. Coach Klev breaks down how he's using VBT in his own training and with his coaching clients, from tracking bar speed to optimizing load and fatigue, while Danny shares supporting thoughts on where tech meets intuition in the gym. We also pull back the curtain on our current training routines—what’s working, what we’ve adjusted, and what we’re learning as coaches who still get under the bar. With honest insights, personal anecdotes, and a few programming nuggets you might want to hang onto for your own training. And finally… we couldn’t resist tackling one of the internet’s most ridiculous yet strangely compelling debates: Could 100 men defeat 1 gorilla? We break down the biomechanics, hypothetical tactics, and the raw chaos of this thought experiment. Tap in for a mix of science, stories, and some serious (and not-so-serious) takes. The Last 6 Months of Fitness: Seed Oils, Anti-Obesity Drugs, Exercise Trends, and Morning Routines
2025/04/08
The coaches are back for the debut episode of Season 2! It's been 6 long months since the coaches have been able to hop on the microphones and record together and there are a lot of topics that have come up in that time that are relevant for discussion. Not only within our own personal lives, but also the greater landscape of the world, social media and the digital space, and the fitness community as a whole. We wanted to spend time in the first episode of our return to examine the changes that have been taking place. Last year was an election year and a new political party has taken power meaning changes to laws and regulations that impact health and fitness, including influence from newly appointed authorities. Also, advances in how people are approaching weight loss and new strategies that have continued to increase in popularity. As well as new exercise trends and what's popping on our Instagram feeds. Buckle up for a 30+ minute episode as we catch up with you, the listeners, and dive into these topics... and as always keep it UNCUT. 50th Episode Special: How Will We Train When We're 50 Years Old?
2024/09/10
This episode marks number fifty for us since we first launched the podcast in August of last year. We have enjoyed hopping on for good discussions and going back-and-forth on the topics that have been featured so far. With the number 50 in mind, we thought it would be a good idea to converse about the longevity of our training and how we plan to evolve it as we advance in age. In particular, for our fiftieth addition, this week's topic will center around how we plan to train when we reach 50 years old. Our time in the gym is a marathon, not a sprint, and so what we dive into on this episode we hope will be insightful for others as they progress through the course of their own personal fitness journeys. We compare what we are currently doing to the approaches that we will take in the future, while giving insight about how our own body's physiological aging process will impact what we do as it relates to our fitness. Tripods in the Gym, Social Media, and the Future of Fitness...
2024/08/21
Within the last decade, gyms have drastically changed. If you go to your average "big-box" gym nowadays, it's common to see just how the impact of social media and the current trends in fitness have molded the training environment into something completely different than you would find 10-15 years ago. This has led to an entirely different experience for both the average gym-goer and the seasoned vets who have been long-since been consistent in their pursuit of strength. This episode focuses primarily on our observations as coaches and the predictions we have for the future of what fitness will look like. From dodging tripod set-ups, to escaping the capture of gym mirror selfies, to discussing the contribution of future advancements in AI (artificial intelligence) and how fitness will look in 2030-2040 and beyond. The coaches discuss and offer feedback on the developing narrative of fitness and give our own personal thoughts on how things are changing... Motivation vs. Discipline: What Keeps Us Motivated to Stay Going to the Gym?
2024/08/07
Motivation is a buzz-word that is continually tossed around in the fitness world and relates to the drive that one has to go through the discomfort that training brings in order to improve themselves physically and mentally. There are many sources of motivation and reasons that someone might involve themselves in the gym and this is something that has the potential to evolve greatly over time. What motivates you now may not be what is the prime motivator for you months and years in the future. From experiencing pain, to channeling your motivation to create discipline and build habits, we discuss in this episode the basis for our own motivation and the observations that we have gathered from years of going through and seeing others through their fitness journeys. We also talk about the fleeting nature of motivation and the importance of establishing discipline/habits as the foundation within your routine. The Bulking & Cutting Strategy for Building Muscle and Losing Fat
2024/07/31
The bodybuilding and physique community popularized the idea in fitness of cycling through a "bulking" and "cutting" season and this concept has carried over into many individuals' approaches to improving their body composition through gaining muscle on a bulk and shedding body-fat by doing a cut. The real question is, will this approach yield the results that it promises and is it effective in terms of gaining size and getting lean? This episode focuses on the bulk/cut strategy with our experience and knowledge on the different approaches to bulking and cutting, the length/duration you should be bulking and cutting, and other useful insights and commentary that may help to guide your decision-making when it comes to implementing this strategy for yourself. Extremes in fitness are, most times, not needed to be able to see the type of results that you desire... this is just one of the key take-aways that we were able to come to from this episode. How to Warm-Up Effectively for Lifting Weights (Listener Question)
2024/07/24
The way that you begin your workout often will set the tone for the session and contribute largely to the effectiveness that comes from your training. While the warm-up shouldn't dominate the main focus of the entire session, it can still be a critical element in making sure that you are primed and ready to take on the challenges of the training day. Often times, there are misconceptions about the parameters that surround a good warm-up... How long should I be warming up for and at what intensity? What percentages of my working weights is appropriate to use? Which movements/exercises should I prioritize in the warm-up? In this episode, we take a listener question and dive in to our own personal anecdote from working with training clients and being inside the gym ourselves to be able to articulate the answers to the above questions and provide a blueprint to implementing an effective warm-up. Our goal of the podcast is to make fitness more simple and digestible to you, we hope that from this training-focused episode you have some key take-aways that can contribute to better experiences and results from the gym!
