Episode 161: Barbie and The Rockers What if I told you Mattel had that DAWG in them? Since 1959, Mattel's Barbie has shaped pop culture, as well as the imaginations, hopes, and dreams of little girls for decades. But in 1985, Hasbro took a shot at the queen with Jem and The Holograms, and Mattel wasn't having it at all. This battle of the brands swiftly turned into a battle of the bands as Mattel swiftly introduced Barbie and the Rockers, and the stories behind the scenes plays out like VH1's Behind the Music. Join us, and very special guests...our friends and Yesterdaze House band...THE FANTASTIC PLASTICS as we look back at Barbie and The Rockers! http://patreon.com/YesterdazePodcast

Episode 160: Heathcliff He's the other orange animated tabby that originated in comics, but preceded his more popular contemporary by five years!  Voiced by Mel Blanc, two times, this kitty managed to be animated twice, but only one had a bangin' theme song. Join us as we look back at Heathcliff. And you better believe we are talking about Cleo from Cats & Co. http://patreon.com/YesterdazePodcast

Ep 157: The Wuzzles   We close out August with the other side of a tale that began with last week's Gummi Bears episode, but as you will see…the ending is quite different. While the bears bounced their way toward success, another Disney jam that ALSO debuted the same exact day and time tried to deliver two kinds of fun wrapped up and rolled into one…but ultimately fizzled out. We have some strong opinions on this one, so join us please for a look back at The Wuzzles.   http://patreon.com/YesterdazePodcast

Journey with us now as we look back at Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, and how it moved the needle for a Disney that was on the verge of collapse.   http://patreon.com/YesterdazePodcast

S4 Ep 30: The Adventures of The Galaxy Rangers   The MOTU model of cross-market promotion in the 80s was tried and true, and easily replicated. So how then can a show with solid writing, amazing music, and possibly the BEST animation fail? Maybe it was timing, maybe it was the toy company partner, maybe kids don't like western themes? Whatever it was, we're talking about it as we look back at The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers! NOTE: "Birmingham" by Randy Newman, a song that may be considered triggering or problematic by some, does have an audio drop in this episode.   http://patreon.com/YesterdazePodcast
