| Is Japan rural life really a “slow life style”?
2026/10/02
In recent years, there has been a significant increase across Japan in the number of people who, drawn to the “slow life,” have moved to less populated rural areas. Both hosts have personally moved from the urban centers of the Kansai region to a small community in Hokkaido, so let’s ask them—based on their real-life experiences—whether they’re truly living the “slow life”!

Polite speech, courteous behavior, thoughtfulness, and apologizing may be characteristic of the Japanese language. Besides “kawaii” and “arigatou,” “sumimasen” is another phrase that foreigners often hear in Japanese. So, the two of us sat down to discuss why Japanese people say “sumimasen” so often!

What We Really Think v.s What We Say in Japan
2026/09/18
You might think of Japanese as a very polite and courteous language, but in reality, Japanese conversation is a mix of “true feelings that what we really think” and “what we really say.” It can be quite difficult to grasp this nuance when learning Japanese, but on the flip side, once you understand it, you will be able to speak Japanese even more like a native speaker! In this episode, we will talk about this tricky nuance.
