When God Goes Quiet and the Rent Is Due | The Chronicles of San Diego, Ep. 3

Rent was due. Her client had gone silent. And God said, "Don't tell anybody. Just watch me move."
In this episode of The Chronicles of San Diego, Michelle Onuorah shares one of the most stretching seasons of her faith. In 2018, the ghostwriting project funding her new apartment fell apart when the client stopped paying and then disappeared. With rent coming due, almost nothing in her account, and no family safety net to call, she turned to her journal and to the Lord.
Michelle reads two raw, unpolished journal entries from that season: her honest frustration with God, and what she heard Him say back. She talks about learning that a paycheck is a resource but God is the source, why it's safe to bring your complaints straight to God, and what it means to choose faith over panic when the math doesn't add up.
You'll hear:
- What happens when trust stops being theory and becomes a specific bill on a specific date
- Why crisis can reveal how close you really are to God
- How to hold God's timing when four days feels like nothing and everything
- The one question to ask God about the situation you're facing right now

What if the season of rest God gives you isn't a reward, it's preparation for what's coming?
In 2017, a visiting minister told Michelle Onuorah that God was about to promote her. She assumed that meant smooth sailing.
In Episode 2 of The Chronicles of San Diego, Michelle shares the season that came before the storm: being let go from a toxic job, hearing God tell her to rest instead of strive, a frustrated "show me the money" journal entry, and the provision that followed, from an unexpected ghostwriting contract to the one-bedroom "miracle apartment" she walked into by mistake.
Then she unpacks three lessons for anyone holding a prophetic word that hasn't unfolded the way they pictured:
God often gives a reprieve before He gives the test.
There's what God says, and then there's what we assume He means.
Presumption is not the same as belief.
This week's activation: Divide a page into two columns. Write what God actually said on one side and what you assumed He meant on the other. Then ask Him to help you separate the revelation from the interpretation.

In the Season 2 premiere of The Prophetic Listening Podcast, host Michelle Onuorah shares a testimony she has never told in full. July 17, 2017. She was 26, broke, and stuck in a job she hated. Then God did something she never saw coming. He told her to stay put, trust Him, and not apply for another job. In one of the most expensive cities in America. With paltry savings. No plan. Just an instruction and a promise.
This is the story of what happens when radical obedience meets real life. The fog lifted. The job disappeared. The faith walk began. And it produced something that would later become the Prophetic Listening Method, a framework that has changed lives ever since.
In this episode: the journal entry from the day she got fired, the word God gave her in real time, and three hard-won lessons about faith, risk, and the kind of dependence that comfort can never produce.
