Description

Weekly vegan news show, with headlines, commentary & discussion. Enough of the Falafel is a community of people who love keeping on top of the latest news in the world of veganism & animal rights. But there's one problem: We've had enough of all the "falafel" out there! Each week we release two different shows, hosted by a different combination of everyday vegans. No celebrities; no influencers; just normal vegan people from across the world! With the 'Vegan Week' podcast, we aim to keep listeners (& ourselves) informed & up-to-date with the latest developments that affect vegans & non-human animals; giving insight, whilst staying balanced; remaining true to our vegan ethics, whilst constantly seeking to grow & develop. A few days later we release another weekly show: 'Vegan Talk'. Here we'll pick a topic affecting vegans, or the animal rights movement & go into a bit more detail, whether it be through philosophical musings, weighing up different viewpoints, or simply sharing our own experiences.  If you spot any news stories that might catch our fancy, or have an idea for a discussion topic, get in touch via [email protected].  Thanks everyone for listening; drop us a message to say "hi"; it'll make our day! Much love, from Ant, Julie, Mark, Dominic, Kate, Paul, Carlos, Luke, Rich, Tom, Alex & everyone else at the Enough of the Falafel collective!

320- What is PETA trying to achieve with these headlines?
2026/10/22
Peta calls for pork-free menus as Peppa Pig show rolls into Grimsby...PETA call to replace Aberaeron Mackerel Fiesta with cabbage...Peta 'wants vegan-only black pudding' at Bury championship...PETA calls for eggs to be swapped with potatoes at Preston's traditional Easter egg roll event...PETA attacks Nintendo over fur-wearing Mario...Animal rights group PETA calls for Warhammer 'fur' ban...To name but a few...We're not bashing PETA. We're just wondering; what's with these wacky headlines? Do they work? Do they cheapen the vegan cause? And do we just leave them to it? Anthony & Shane weigh up the pros, the cons and the faux fur plastic warhammer figurines in this episode. We mention these news articles & campaigns in the discussion, amongst others... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-38802938 https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/peta-attacks-nintendo-over-fur-wearing-mario-flna119126 https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2026/feb/14/peta-pork-free-menus-peppa-pig-big-family-show-grimsby https://www.itv.com/news/granada/2026-03-31/calls-for-eggs-to-be-swapped-for-potatoes-to-modernise-easter-event https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/news/26429414.peta-wants-vegan-only-black-pudding-bury-championship/ https://www.tivysideadvertiser.co.uk/news/26431787.peta-call-replace-aberaeron-mackerel-fiesta-cabbage/ As ever, we love hearing your views on the topics under discussion (or  anything else!) so do drop us your thoughts via [email protected] ************* Enough  of the Falafel is a community of people who love keeping on top of the  latest news in the world of veganism & animal rights. 319- VIVA remove "gas chambers" advert
2026/10/19
After receiving a compaint, VIVA have removed posters from London buses with a picture of a pig and the phrase: "Next stop: The Gas Chamber". Was this justified? Did they know this would happen all along? Are there better ways to advocate for pigs? Much to discuss. As well as this story, Svenne, Mark & Shane will be discussing several others bits of news that have surfaced in the vegan & animal rights space in the last 7 days. Like what we do? 318- Do vegans say it best...when they say nothing at all?
2026/10/15
Many non-vegans would strongly agree with this question; but might there be an argument from vegans themselves, that sometimes the best animal advocacy involves silence from ourselves? And they say vegan parents indoctrinate their children... 313- Not eat meat for one day?! Belachelijk!
2026/09/28
Dutch rail operators NS allow most stuff to be advertised at their train stations. But when Wakker Dier applied to have an advert suggesting that people didn't eat animals for one day, they said no...until the courts made them change their mind. 306- Introducing "de latente veganist!" Going Vegan: Svenne's story
2026/09/03
One of our newest Falafellers is the very brilliant Svenne. In this episode she discusses her own vegan journey, which now has her engaging in activism on the weekends and flying the flag for animal rights...but it wasn't always that simple. The Going Vegan series shines a spotlight on the huge variety of everyday normal folk who choose to avoid animal expoitation through choosing a vegan lifestyle; for previous Going Vegan episodes (there's about 20 of them), scroll back in your podcast player. **************** Enough of the Falafel is a community of people who love keeping on top of the latest news in the world of veganism & animal rights.
