Why Some People Can Stop at One Cookie (And You Can’t)
2026/10/19
Have you ever noticed that eating one cookie can sometimes be harder than eating none? You tell yourself you’re just going to have one or two. But once you start, you find yourself wanting more. And before you know it, you’ve eaten way more than you planned.
For some people, it’s easier to avoid certain foods altogether. For others, having a few bites and moving on is no big deal. So, are some people naturally better at moderation? Or is it a skill anyone can learn?
In this episode, we talk about abstainers vs. moderators, why certain foods are so hard to stop eating, and how to find an approach that works for you. We also get into why chasing perfection can hold you back, how to break free from all-or-nothing thinking, and why learning to bounce back matters more than getting everything right.

Why You Keep Losing and Gaining the Same 5-10 Pounds
2026/10/12
If you keep losing and gaining the same five or ten pounds, the problem might not be how hard you’re trying. It might be how you’re trying to lose the weight in the first place.
In this episode, we talk about the 5-pound yo-yo: why the same weight can keep coming off and coming back, why normal weight fluctuations aren’t something to panic about, and how the habits you use to lose weight can make all the difference when it comes to keeping it off.
The goal isn’t to be perfect or stay at one exact number forever. It’s to build a way of eating, moving, and living that works in your actual life. And in a way that you can keep doing.

What Losing 20+ Pounds Taught This Doctor About Weight Loss
2026/10/05
Knowing what to do and actually doing it consistently are two very different things.
And our guest today knows that from both sides.
Dr. Kathleen Timme is a pediatric endocrinologist who understands the science behind weight loss. But after losing more than 20 pounds herself, she came away with a very different appreciation for what it actually takes to make those changes stick.
In this conversation, Kathleen shares what she learned about self-compassion, accountability, getting back on track, and something her coach called “the boring middle.”
We think you’re really going to enjoy this one.

Could People Pleasing Be Making Weight Loss Harder?
2026/09/28
Can people pleasing actually get in the way of your health and weight-loss goals?
Today, we're talking about how trying to keep everyone else happy can affect the choices you make around food and taking care of yourself.
We also get into why people pleasing can be so hard to recognize, how it can lead to eating when you're not hungry or using food to deal with stress, and why constantly worrying about how other people feel can be exhausting.
Most importantly, we talk about what you can actually do about it, from simply noticing when you're people pleasing to getting more comfortable saying what you really want and dealing with the short-term discomfort that can come with doing things differently.

Why Is Weight Loss Harder During Perimenopause? A Doctor Talks Hormones, GLP-1s & What Actually Helps
2026/09/22
Why can weight loss feel so much harder during perimenopause? In this episode, we talk with Dr. Cindy Libert, a family physician who specializes in functional and lifestyle medicine, about perimenopause, weight loss, and GLP-1 medications. Cindy brings a unique perspective because she’s not only a doctor, she’s going through perimenopause herself.
We talk about what really changes during perimenopause, why the things that used to work may not work the same way anymore, and the role of sleep, muscle, protein, stress, and emotional eating. We also talk about GLP-1s, what Cindy thinks people should know before taking one, and why your habits still matter whether you use medication or not.
Cindy also shares some of her own experience with weight loss and the small changes that made a much bigger difference than she expected.

Struggling With Weight Loss? You Might Need an Alter Ego
2026/09/15
What if you had an alter ego you could call on when you didn’t feel like working out, making the better choice with food, or doing what you know you need to do? That’s the idea behind the alter ego effect. And it’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not. It’s about using the strengths, values, and beliefs you already have when things get hard.
We talk about how we’ve been using alter egos ourselves, including how asking “What would an athlete do?” helped with workouts, food choices, and those times when the motivation just wasn’t there. Because you don’t have to feel motivated first. Sometimes you take action, and the feelings start to follow.
We also talk about how to create your own alter ego, when to use it, and even how things like music can help. So if you find yourself debating and negotiating with yourself when you’re trying to lose weight, get fit, or reach a goal, this might be something worth trying.

You’re Not Hungry. You’re Trying to Feel Different
2026/09/08
How do you stop emotional eating when food has become your go-to response to stress, frustration, loneliness, or overwhelm? Emotional eating usually isn’t really about the food. It’s about what the food allows us to escape, suppress, or avoid feeling.
We talk about how to sit with uncomfortable feelings instead of immediately reacting to them with food, why that’s so hard, and practical ways to create a pause and figure out what you’re actually feeling and trying to escape from.
If you struggle with emotional eating or stress eating, the answer probably isn’t more willpower. It’s learning what’s happening before you reach for food so you can respond instead of react.

10 Years in the NHL: Eric Nystrom on Habits, Pressure, and Accountability
2026/09/01
Eric Nystrom played 10 seasons in the NHL. Nearly 600 games.
And over a career that long, he learned a lot about what happens when things aren't going your way. Because even when you know you're doing the right things, the results don't always show up right away.
Sometimes you have to keep going. Sometimes you have to have a short memory and move on from a mistake. And sometimes you have to be honest enough to admit that what worked for you before doesn't work anymore.
That's a big part of what we get into in this conversation with Eric.
We talk about the pressure of playing professional hockey, the self-doubt he felt even after making it to the NHL, and what happened when the structure and accountability he'd had his entire life suddenly disappeared.
We also talk about consistency, dealing with setbacks, knowing when to stick with what you're doing, life after professional sports, and why Eric's approach to health and exercise looks a whole lot different today than it did when he was playing.
It's a really good conversation about what it actually looks like to keep showing up when nobody's making you do it anymore.

Skip This And Watch Your Diet Fall Apart
2026/08/17
We’ve all been there. If we can’t do something perfectly, sometimes we just don’t do it at all. So we skip the workout because we only have 15 minutes. We throw the whole day away because lunch didn’t go as planned. And somewhere in the middle of all that, we wonder why we’re constantly running on empty.
In this episode, we get into why that all-or-nothing thinking can leave you feeling burned out, what it does to your mood, your stress, and even your relationship with food. And the answer isn’t doing more. It’s doing something consistently, even when it’s small and even when it’s not all that exciting.
If you’ve ever felt edgy, burned out, or out of control around food, this one might connect a few dots you didn’t expect.

The Worst Time To Pause Your Diet
2026/08/10
The end of summer has a way of testing everything. School starts, work picks back up, and the healthy habits and routines you worked so hard to build feel like they're slipping.
Most people fall off their diet and fitness routine not because they were never taught how to be resilient.
And THAT's the skill that separates people who reach their health and fitness goals from the ones who keep starting over.
And the good news is that skill isn't something you're born with. It's something you build. The more you use it, the more you have it.

How To Use Music To Lose Weight And Exercise More
2026/08/03
Most people think motivation is what gets you to exercise. But after doing this for a long time, there are still plenty of days where motivation just isn't there.
In this episode we talk about something that almost always fixes that. It's free, it's fun, and most people already have it. We get into how to use it to get moving when you don't feel like it, how to use it to get through cravings, and some specific strategies most people have never thought of.
It might be the most underused tool in health and fitness. And once you hear it, you'll probably want to use it today.

Why Waiting To Start A Diet NEVER Works
2026/07/27
There’s always something coming up. A trip. A new job. A busy time at work.
So you tell yourself you’ll start losing weight or get back on track with your health and fitness when things finally calm down.
The problem is, that time almost never comes. And if you keep waiting for the perfect time to start losing weight or start working on your health, there’s a good chance you’ll still be waiting six months from now.
In this episode, we talk about why there’s never a wrong time to start working on your health, why a busy and chaotic time of life can actually be an advantage, and how to adjust your expectations based on what’s going on in your life instead of waiting for perfect conditions.

How To Deal With People Who Sabotage Your Diet
2026/07/20
You're doing everything you can to eat better and take care of yourself. And then you get home and find brownies on the counter. Or you go out with friends and someone says "you're not fun anymore." Or "I miss the old you."
It feels personal. But here's what most people don't realize. The people closest to you who seem to be working against you usually aren't doing it on purpose. There's a very real, very human reason this keeps happening. And once you understand it, it stops feeling like a personal attack and starts feeling a lot more manageable.
In this episode we get into why the people around you sabotage your weight loss and healthy eating, what's actually driving it, and the strategies that help you navigate it without damaging the relationships that matter most to you.

One Small Change Can Fix Your Worst Eating Habits
2026/07/13
Most people assume they keep falling off their diet because they don't have the right plan. Or enough willpower. Or enough motivation. But what if the real reason is something most people never think to look at?
In this episode we get into patterns, the invisible chains of behaviors that run on autopilot and quietly keep you stuck in the same place no matter how hard you try. We cover how patterns form, how to spot them, and why you don't have to overhaul everything to change them.
Sometimes you just have to find the first domino.
If you've ever thought "here I go again" and couldn't figure out why, this episode might finally explain why.

Why Am I Not Losing Weight? (After 20 Years, Here’s My Answer)
2026/06/29
I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years, and one of the questions I get asked more than any other is:
“Why can’t I lose weight?”
It’s a fair question. But over the years, I’ve become convinced that most people are looking for the answer in the wrong place.
We assume we need a better meal plan. More discipline. A different workout. Better timing. And while those things can certainly matter, I’ve found that one of the biggest reasons people stay stuck is because they keep asking food to solve problems food was never designed to solve.
In this episode, we talk about why cravings happen, how to tell the difference between physical and emotional hunger, and why understanding what’s driving your eating is often far more powerful than finding another diet or weight loss strategy.
If you’ve ever wondered, “Why can’t I lose weight?”, I think this episode will give you a completely different way to think about the answer.
